New Aggregation Algorithm for Tandem queue with Finite Buffers

We consider a two-stage fmite tandem queueing system with Poisson arrivals and negative exponential service times. The customer who has completed his service at the first station has to go directlty to the second station. If the queue of the second station is full at the moment of the service completion of the customer at the first station, then the customer receives, another service at the first station. This is repeated until the customer completes a service at the first station at the moment that the second station is not fulL The problem of calculating the steady-state probabilities of this queueing system by the ordinary balance equations is time consuming. We develop an efficient algorithm to obtain the steady-state probabilities that utilize the two-way state aggregation techniques.

The increasing number of replacement of the substitute cardiac valves were seen in these 2 years. Out of a total 1,408 patients with cardiac valve replacement, 54 required replacement of the substitute valves. Fifty-nine substitute valves replaced were 43 in mitral, 14 in aortic and 2 in tricuspid positions; and they were 36 Ionescu-Shiley, 15 Hancock and 3 Angell-Shiley bioprosthetic valves and 3 St. Jude Medical and 2 Bjork-Shiley prosthetic valves. Primary tissue failure was the most frequent reason of replacement[38 patients] followed by paravalvular leak[9 patients], prosthetic valve endocarditis[6 patients] and valve thrombosis[1 patient] in order. The most pronounced pathology of the failed xenograft valves seen in the primary tissue failure group was calcification and fixation of the cusps with or without tear and defect of the cuspal tissue. The operative mortality rate was 7.4%. Fifty early survivors were followed up for a total of 82.6 patient-years and there was no late death. Actuarial survival rate was 92.3*3.8% at 6 years after surgery. Although the definite tendency toward early and accelerated degeneration of the xenograft valves has been seen in patients younger than 20 to 25 years of age, no strict age limit from where the tissue failure slows down could be determined. The requirement of the ideal substitute valves would be the durability of the recently developed mechanical prostheses armed with the low thrombogenicity of the bioprostheses. At the present time, the need of compromise in selection between less thrombogenic bioprosthetic and more durable mechanical valves should be stressed. The difficulty in choice is yet important in patients of middle age and children where the use of homograft valves may be one of the solution despite of certain limitations from sociomedical reasons.

Jonghwan KimThe aim of this study is to examine Shakespeare's political attitude towards the populace presented in Julius Caesar and Coriolanus. Rome is a real background to both plays, but the plays are involved with the contemporary economic problems of the plebeian in England and the contemporary political conflict between the plebeian and the patrician. Shakespeare's attitude towards the populace is rather different in each play. In Julius Caesar, a play in the middle period of his theatrical career, the plebian are presented in the negative way. In Coriolanus, his later play written in 1608, the plebeian are presented more favorably than the irrational, unstable, fickle, and unreliable populace as in Julius Caesar.Conservative critics have argued that Shakespeare was not so negative when he depicted the plebeian as an individual, but he presented negative point of view on the populace when he depicted them as a mass; they are contemptible because of their irrationality and fickleness. They regarded Shakespeare as a conservative playwright who accepted the contemporary social hierarchy and its anti-popular myth. However, this is not true. Because Shakespeare's attitude towards the plebeian was dynamic rather than static, and it was presented as different aspects in different plays. To investigate Shakespeare's portrayal of the populace and his political attitude towards the plebeian, I will discuss the relationship between the plebeian and the patrician, the plebian and the tribune, and the patrician and the tribune in Julius Caesar and Coriolanus with a special reference to the socio-political contexts related with the plebeian. 전자무역 시스템 개발 프로젝트의 위험요인에 관한 연구

최근 정부와 기업에서는 종이서류 없는 무역환경 자동화를 통해 글로벌 경쟁력 강화에 중요하게 인식하고 있으며, 이에 전자무역 시스템 개발 프로젝트는 증가하고 있다. 정보시스템 프로젝트의 위험관리 연구는 지난 20년 넘게 수행되어 왔으며, 이에 전형적인 위험요인 목록을 도출한 연구 결과가 문헌을 통해 많이 제시되었다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 정보시스템 프로젝트의 위험요인 문헌 연구를 통해 전자무역 시스템 개발 프로젝트 환경에 맞는 위험요인 목록을 도출한다. 정보시스템 개발의 범위를 전자무역 시스템으로 한정하여 프로젝트 위험요인을 연구한 것에 의미를 갖는 본 연구는, 향후 발생할 전자무역 시스템 개발 프로젝트 실패를 줄이고 성공 가능성을 높임으로써 프로젝트 수행을 성공으로 이끄는 데 도움이 되고자 한다.

The normal physiological values of Korean mongrel dogs were studied, comparing them with foreign references, on the basis of control physiological data measured on 110 cases out of the dogs submitted to the experiments in our department. The hemodynamic measurements varied widely between the both limits of reported normal control data, with the mean value of heart rate $140.4{\pm}26.6$/min., and both the systolic and diastolic arterial blood pressures $137.2{\pm}31.7$mmHg and $104.7{\pm}14.4$ mmHg, as well as the venous pressure of $9.11{\pm}2.18$ cm.$H_2O$. Hematologically, the number of red blood cells $4,571,000{\pm}767,000$per cu.mm., the amount of hemoglobin $11.57{\pm}3.74$ gm/dl and the hematocrit $37.3{\pm}7.2$ per cent, were equally the values a little lower than the reported normal means. However, the white blood cells were within the reported normal limits both in number, $10,384{\pm}4,877$ per cu. mm and their differential counts with slightly broader ranges of variation. The platelet count was $149,800{\pm}47,000 $per cu. mm and was also far below the normal, while the coagulation time $9.03{\pm}2.69$min. and the prothrombin time $13.17{\pm}6.52$sec were within normal limits, though a little prolonged. The serum electrolytes, Na $146.6{\pm}10.44$mEq/L.,K $4.46{\pm}0.84$mEq/L., CI $118.3{\pm}7.88$mEq/L. and Ca $11.45{\pm}5.62$mg./dl, and the blood glucose level of $94.9{\pm}31.79$mg./dl were essentially not different from the reported normal values. The serum proteins, total protein $7.15{\pm}1.41$gm/dl., albumin $4.09{\pm}0.77$gm./dl. and globulin $3.18{\pm}0.88$gm/dl. were included near the higher limits of the reported normal levels. The thymol turbidity 0.1-3.04 units were normal in 10 cases, and the cephaline flocculation was within normal range except 2 cases out of 26 dogs, showing two positive in 24 hours. And the nitrogen series, NPN $34.61{\pm}10.29$mg/dl. and BUN $12.77{\pm}6.37$mg./dl. were normal. It may be concluded that from the point of view of hereby measured physiological data compared with the foreign references, the Korean mongrel dogs have a compatible laboratory data with only the special regards to their tendency toward anemia in red blood cell series.
