Influence of Cobalt Content on the Fatigue Strength of WC-Co Hardmetals

The behavior of hardmetals under cyclic loads is investigated. Unnotched specimens were employed to obtain practical information regarding fatigue in hardmetals. All the tested hardmetals exhibit an increase in the number of cycles until failure with a decrease in the maximum stress, i.e., the hardmetals exhibit a high fatigue sensitivity. The fatigue strength increases with the cobalt content. Although distinct fatigue limits, as observed in metals, cannot be observed, the calculated fatigue limit stress at cycles is found to be approximately 70% of the flexural strength, and the stress value exhibits a linear relationship with the flexural stress.

Tree-ring analysis is an important field of science, including dendrochronology, dendroclimatology and modeling the tree growth environmental response system. In most cases the analyses have been conducted using one parameter from one tree-ring, e.g. ring-width, density, ratio of radioisotope, and so on. The information within a ring, however, has been less studied and many more things to be explored such as seasonal response in the shorter time scales. From another point of view, many species of softwood are often used into tree-ring analyses but our previous work revealed that simple CNN models did not work well in identification of softwood images where the morphology is rather regular or periodic. Therefore, substantial improvement in either feature extraction or the design of neural network was needed. In this study, therefore, we applied wavelet transform into deep-learning technique in order to extract information of tree growth environmental response in sub-seasonal time scales from softwood images.

Synthesis and Electrical Properties of Barium Uranium Sulfides

Barium uranium sulfides, $BaUS_3$ and $BaU_2B_5$, were synthesized in a single phase by the reactin of $(Ba, UO_2)(NO_3)_2$ at Ba/U=1 and 0.5 with carbon disulfide at 1273 K for 6 h. They crystallized in orthorhombic structure with space group, Pnma. The lattice parameters a, b and c are 7.493, 10.38 and 7.238$\AA$ for $BaUS_3$ and 7.525, 8.475 and 11.858$\AA$ for $BaU_2S_5$, respectively. The electrical conductivity of these compunds increased with increasing temperature above 200K, below which however, it was nearly temperature independent. The Hall coefficient suggested that they are n-type semiconductors.

세계 스포츠계의 국제유도는 1964년 도쿄 올림픽에서 남자유도가 정식종목으로 채택되었다. 이후 1988년 서울 올림픽에서는 여자유도가 시험적으로 채택되었으며 1992년 바르셀로나 올림픽에서는 정식종목으로 채택되었다. 이와 같이 대한제국이 일본강점기에 이용되었던 유도는 반세기를 지나서 올림픽 종목으로 채택되었으며 한ㆍ일유도선수들이 더욱 경쟁을 시작하게 되었다. 그 이후 1997년 한국에서도 한ㆍ우수청소년스포츠 교류사업의 진흥에 주력하게 되었다. 이를 통해 유도는 2003년 교류사업의 정식종목으로 채택되어 2003년 4월부터 한ㆍ일우수청소년유도공동합숙이 진행되었다. 이를 감안하면 대한제국에 일본강도관유도가 이입된 이후의 역사적인 여러 가지 사례가 있었으나 현시대의 한국유도계는 다른 대처방법이 변형되었다. 따라서 이 연구는 한국과 일본의 현제유도선수들의 유도의 사상적 이미지를 분명히 하는 한편, 한국유도에 대한 대처방법의 변화에 의한 교육효과를 목적으로 하고 있다. 이에 본 조사에서는 유도부에 소속되어 있는 일본인 선수 206명과 한국인 선수 178명 등 대학생들을 대상으로 하여 유도의 사상적 이미지를 확인하기 위한 20개 항목의 질문들을 통해 이를 상세히 살펴보았다. 이 같은 분석 후에 추론된 5가지 사실들 그리고 그것은 일본의 대학생들이 한국인 학생들에 비해 유도의 전통적 신체기법 및 사상적 유지를 전승하려는 것으로 명확하게 일치된 결과를 보였다고 사료된다. Efficacy and Safety of 5-Aminolevulinic Acid for Patients with Symptoms of Late-Onset Hypogonadism: A Preliminary Study

Purpose: As the concept of late-onset hypogonadism (LOH) has gained increased attention, the treatment of eugonadal patients with LOH symptom has become a clinical problem. Previous studies have shown the possible benefits of 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) on the somatic, psychological and sexual functions. We therefore conducted this randomized, double‑blind, placebo‑controlled study to confirm the efficacy and safety of 5-ALA for LOH symptoms. Materials and Methods: Thirty-two eugonadal subjects with LOH symptoms were randomly divided into a 5-ALA group (n=15) and a placebo group (n=17). Treatment was continued for 8 weeks. The change of the Aging Males’ Symptoms (AMS) scale score and several biochemical and endocrinological variables during treatment were compared between the groups. Results: After treatment, the change in the total AMS in the 5-ALA group was significantly greater than that in the placebo group (-7.4±4.7 vs. -4.9±4.9, p=0.029). However, the differences between the groups in the change of the somatic, psychological, and sexual sub-scores of the AMS did not reach the statistical significance, although these changes in the 5-ALA group were greater than those in the placebo group. Furthermore, the change in the biochemical and endocrinological variables in the two groups did not differ to a statistically significant extent. During the 8-week treatment period, no patients discontinued 5-ALA due to treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs). Conclusions: The intake of 5-ALA for 8 weeks was beneficial for eugonadal patients with symptoms of LOH and no severe TEAEs was experienced. 5-ALA should be considered as an option for those patients.

擴張된 DP 매칭법에 依한 흘림체 한글 온라인 認識

본 논문은 DP(dynamic programming) 매칭법을 확장하여 흘림체 한글을 온라인으로 인식하는 방법에 대하여 논한 것이다. 한글의 자소는 보다 간단한 자소에 선분이 점차로 추가되어 보다 복잡한 구조로 발전되는 특징이 있다. 자소의 조합에 의해 구성되는 한글에는 유사한 문자 패턴이 많다. 이러한 특성으로 인하여 한글에 대하여 DP매칭법을 적용하여도, 입력문자와 표준문자와의 패턴간 거리를 정확하게 구하는 것이 곤란하다. 본 방식에서는 DP매칭을 행하기 전에, 한글의 최초, 최후선분의 특성을 살린 대분류매칭을 행함으로써 DP매칭의 대상수를 줄였다. 본 방식은 DP매칭법에 자소패턴의 추출기능을 부가함으로써, DP매칭을 확장하여, 한글의 문자패턴간의 거리를 정확하게 측정하는 것을 시도한다. 자소패턴의 추출은, 자소패턴을 구성하는 선분의 ON/OFF, 방향코오드, 방향코오드의 변화, 배치 구조등을 조사함으로써 행한다. 이와같이 하므로써 필기운동 변화의 흡수와 비교적 안정된 스트로크의 분리가 가능함을 확인하였다. This paper presents an application of the extended DP matching method to the on-line recognition of cursive Hangeul (Korean characters). We decrease the number of matching's objects by performing rough classification matching which makes the best use of features in the first and the last segment of Hangeul. By adding the extraction function of the basic character patterns to DP matching method, we try to calculate precisely the difference among Hangeul. The extraction of the basic character patterns is done by examining the features of segments in character. Applying the extended DP matching method to the on-line recognition of cursive Hangeul, absorption of writing motion and stable separation of strokes can be performed with flexibility.

Review : Indications for and Technical Aspects of Colorectal Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection

Due to the widespread acceptance of gastric and esophageal endoscopic submucosal dissections (ESDs), the number of medical facilities that perform colorectal ESDs has grown and the effectiveness of colorectal ESD has been increasingly reported in recent years. The clinical indications for colorectal ESD at the National Cancer Center Hospital, Tokyo, Japan include laterally spreading tumor (LST) nongranular type lesions >20 mm and LST granular type lesions >30 mm. In addition, 0-IIc lesions >20 mm, intramucosal tumors with nonlifting signs and large sessile lesions, all of which are difficult to resect en bloc by conventional endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), represent potential candidates for colorectal ESD. Rectal carcinoid tumors less than 1 cm in diameter can be treated simply, safely, and effectively by endoscopic submucosal resection using a ligation device and are therefore not indications for ESD. The en bloc resection rate was 90%, and the curative resection rate was 87% for 806 ESDs. The median procedure time was 60 minutes, and the mean size for resected specimens was 40 mm (range, 15 to 150 mm). Perforations occurred in 23 (2.8%) cases, and postoperative bleeding occurred in 15 (1.9%) cases, but only two perforation cases required emergency surgery (0.25%). ESD was an effective procedure for treating colorectal tumors that are difficult to resect en bloc by conventional EMR. ESD resulted in a higher en bloc resection rate as well as decreased invasiveness in comparison to surgery. Based on the excellent clinical results of colorectal ESDs in Japan, the Japanese healthcare insurance system has approved colorectal ESD for coverage. (Gut Liver 2013; 7:263-269)

본 논문에서는, 일한기계번역을 위한 술부처리시스템에 대하여 논한다. 한일양국의 언어는 각각 술어의 활용이 매우 복잡하게 발달되어 있기 때문에 양국 언어간의 기계번역을 행할 경우, 복잡하게 활용된 이들 술부간의 변환이 어려운 문제가 된다. 활용이 단순한 일본어의 술부는, 동사의 활용처리등을 하여 어간과 활용어미를 구분할 수 있다. 이것에 비해 활용이 복잡한 술부인 경우에는 동사외의 부속어의 활용처리가 더 추가되어야 한다. 복잡하게 활용된 술부의 경우 본 시스템에서는, 동사의 활용처리와 함께 조술표현의 의미를 추출하므로써 일본어 술부를 해석하였다. 조술표현의 의미는 술부에 포함되어 있는 양상등의 보조적인 의미정보이다. 추출된 조술표현의 의미대응에 의하여 조술표현의 의미는 술부에 포함되어 있는 양상등의 보조적인 의미정보이다. 추출된 조술표현의 의미대응에 의하여 한국어 조술표현을 추출하였으며, 일한 술어대응사전을 참조함으로써 일본어 술어의 원형으로부터 한국어 술어의 원형을 변환, 추출할 수 있었다. 추출한 한국어 술어의 원형과 조술표현을 합성함으로써, 복잡한 활용의 일한 술부간의 번역을 유연하게 실행할 수 있었다. 본 시스템은 일한기계변역에 있어서, 술부내의 부속어의 의미에 근거를 두어 번역하기 때문에, 질 높은 술부번역이 가능하며 다른 여러 기계번역시스템에도 응용될 수 있는 특징을 가진다. The present paper reports a predicative part processing system for Japanese-Korean machine translation. After extracting a predicate and the meanings of auxiliary predicative expressions from an input Japanese predicative part, the system changes them into Korean expressions by consulting a Japanese-Korean predicate correspondence dictionary and a Korean auxiliary predicative expression table. The system makes a Korean predicative part from the Korean expressions on basis of their connection rules. Using the semantic correspondence of auxiliary predicative expressions, the system gives good results of machine translation.
