      • Estimation of Electromechanical Modes from Ambient PMU Data in China Southern Power Grid

Shi, Bonian,Wu, Jingtao,Yang, Dong,Liu, Yongjun The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2013 The Journal of International Council on Electrical Vol.3 No.3

Online estimation of electromechanical oscillation modes using ambient PMU data is adopted for monitoring the China Southern Power Grid (CSG). After some preprocessing steps, the ambient PMU data is processed by ARMA (Autoregressive Moving average) method, different identification results are obtained from multiple PMU sites. Then by utilization of a clustering method, oscillation modes representing the system operating conditions are derived. In this paper, we report on the preliminary results in CSG and restriction on the ambient data usage is explained. Application of ambient data analysis for oscillation event study is also proposed to judge the oscillation type by comparing the estimated damping ratio value before and during ringdown period. Some suggestions on further ambient data analysis study are also discussed.

Earthquake-related Crush Injury versus Non-Earthquake Injury in Abdominal Trauma Patients on Emergency Multidetector Computed Tomography: A Comparative Study

        Tian-wu Chen,Zhi-gang Yang,Zhi-hui Dong,Zhi-gang Chu,Si-shi Tang,Wen Deng 대한의학회 2011 Journal of Korean medical science Vol.26 No.3

The aim of this study was to investigate features of abdominal earthquake-related crush traumas in comparison with non-earthquake injury. A cross sectional survey was conducted with 51 survivors with abdominal crush injury in the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, and 41with abdominal non-earthquake injury, undergoing non-enhanced computed tomography (CT) scans, serving as earthquake trauma and control group, respectively. Data were analyzed between groups focusing on CT appearance. We found that injury of abdominalwall soft tissue and fractures of lumbar vertebrae were more common in earthquake trauma group than in control group (28 vs 13 victims, and 24 vs 9, respectively; all P <0.05); and fractures were predominantly in transverse process of 1-2 vertebrae among L1-3 vertebrae. Retroperitoneal injury in the kidney occurred more frequently in earthquake trauma group than in control group (29 vs 14 victims, P < 0.05). Abdominal injury in combination with thoracic and pelvic injury occurred more frequently in earthquake trauma group than in control group (43 vs 29 victims, P < 0.05). In conclusion, abdominal earthquake-related crush injury might be characteristic of high incidence in injury of abdominal-wall soft tissue, fractures of lumbar vertebrae in transverse process of 1-2 vertebrae among L1-3 vertebrae, retroperitoneal injury in the kidney, and in combination with injury in the thorax and pelvis.

      • β3GnT8 Regulates Laryngeal Carcinoma Cell Proliferation Via Targeting MMPs/TIMPs and TGF-β1

        Hua, Dong,Qin, Fang,Shen, Li,Jiang, Zhi,Zou, Shi-Tao,Xu, Lan,Cheng, Zhi-Hong,Wu, Shi-Liang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.5

Previous evidence showed ${\beta}1$, 3-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase 8 (${\beta}3GnT8$), which can extend polylactosamine on N-glycans, to be highly expressed in some cancer cell lines and tissues, indicating roles in tumorigenesis. However, so far, the function of ${\beta}3GnT8$ in laryngeal carcinoma has not been characterized. To test any contribution, Hep-2 cells were stably transfected with sense or interference vectors to establish cell lines that overexpressed or were deficient in ${\beta}3GnT8$. Here we showed that cell proliferation was increased in ${\beta}3GnT8$ overexpressed cells but decreased in ${\beta}3GnT8$ knockdown cells using MTT. Furthermore, we demonstrated that change in ${\beta}3GnT8$ expression had significant effects on tumor growth in nude mice.We further provided data suggesting that overexpression of ${\beta}3GnT8$ enhanced the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) at both the mRNA and protein levels, associated with shedding of tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinase TIMP-2. In addition, it caused increased production of transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-${\beta}1$), whereas ${\beta}3GnT8$ gene knockdown caused the reverse effect. The results may indicate a novel mechanism by which effects of ${\beta}3GnT8$ in regulating cellular proliferation are mediated, at least in partvia targeting MMPs/TIMPs and TGF-${\beta}1$ in laryngeal carcinoma Hep-2 cells. The finding may lay a foundation for further investigations into the ${\beta}3GnT8$ as a potential target for therapy of laryngeal carcinoma.

B, N-codoped 3D micro-/mesoporous carbon nanofibers web as efficient metal-free catalysts for oxygen reduction

        Qi Shi,Yongpeng Lei,Yingde Wang,Huaping Wang,Lehua Jiang,Hongliang Yuan,Dong Fang,Bing Wang,Nan Wu,Yanzi Gou 한국물리학회 2015 Current Applied Physics Vol.15 No.12

B, N-codoped carbon nanofibers were massively prepared by heat treatment of electrospun carbon nanofibers with the mixture of boric acid/urea in N2 (BNCf-N) and subsequently activated in NH3 (BNCf- NA). The directly electrospun self-standing 3D non woven structure with void spaces between each fiber facilitates the mass transport of reactant and resulted molecules. Further NH3 activation gives BNCf-NA a high surface area of 306.3 m2 g-1 with micro/mesoporous structure, providing abundant passageway for proton transfer. Simultaneously, NH3 activation also realizes the optimization of surface functionalities, such as more BeNeC and pyridinic-N. These intriguing features render BNCf-NA excellent catalytic behavior with nearly four-electron oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) process in alkaline media, especially much better stability and methanol tolerance than the commercial Pt/C catalyst. Our work provides a large-scale preparation method for efficient metal-free catalysts toward ORR, thus further intensifying the commercial application of fuel cells.

      • Gastrin 유발 위점막 손상에 대한 Nicotine의 보호 효과

        박세호(Shi Hao Piao),김동구(Dong Goo Kim),김덕남(De Nan Jin),오정구(Zhen Jiu Wu),홍춘란(Chun Lan Hong),김경환(Kyung Hwan Kim) 대한약리학회 1995 대한약리학잡지 Vol.31 No.3

Conflicting data have been reported on the effect of nicotine on gastric mucosal damage. To elucidate the effect of chronic intermittent nicotine on gastric mucosal damage, intragastric nicotine (5 mg/kg, 10 mg/kg) was administered twice per day for 9 days. Gastric mucosal damage was created by s.c. injection of a large dose (1.2 mg/kg) of pentagastrin followed by pylorus ligation for 6 hours. Nicotine treated rats showed reduced gastric mucosal damage about 50% of the control. To examine the mechanism of the protective effect of nicotine, gastric perfusion experiments were done. Basal acid secretion was not affected by intragastric or intravenous nicotine. However, pentagastrin-stimulated acid secretion markedly inhibited by a bolus injection of nicotine, and this response was dose-related. These data indicates that chronic intermittent administration of nicotine protects gastric mucosa against gastrin-induced gastric mucosal damage, and nicotine-induced inhibition of gastrin-stimulated acid secretion has an important role for the protective effect of nicotine. Considering reports concerning nicotine s aggravating effect on the gastric mucosal damage, it is suggested that the methods of administration of nicotine may be an important decisive factor of the divergent action of nicotine on the gastric mucosa.

MoJMJD6, a Nuclear Protein, Regulates Conidial Germination and Appressorium Formation at the Early Stage of Pathogenesis in Magnaporthe oryzae

        Li Zhang,Dong Li,Min Lu,Zechi Wu,Chaotian Liu,Yingying Shi,Mengyu Zhang,Zhangjie Nan,Weixiang Wang 한국식물병리학회 2023 Plant Pathology Journal Vol.39 No.4

In plant-pathogen interactions, Magnaporthe oryzae causes blast disease on more than 50 species of 14 monocot plants, including important crops such as rice, millet, and most 15 recently wheat. M. oryzae is a model fungus for studying plant-microbe interaction, and the main source for fungal pathogenesis in the field. Here we report that MoJMJD6 is required for conidium germination and appressorium formation in M. oryzae. We obtained MoJMJD6 mutants (ΔMojmjd6) using a target gene replacement strategy. The MoJMD6 deletion mutants were delayed for conidium germination, glycogen, and lipid droplets utilization and consequently had decreased virulence. In the ΔMojmjd6 null mutants, global histone methyltransferase modifications (H3K- 4me3, H3K9me3, H3K27me3, and H3K36me2/3) of the genome were unaffected. Taken together, our results indicated that MoJMJD6 function as a nuclear protein which plays an important role in conidium germination and appressorium formation in the M. oryzae. Our work provides insights into MoJMJD6-mediated regulation in the early stage of pathogenesis in plant fungi.

Study on the Effects of Pedestrians on the Aerostatic Response of a Long-Span Pedestrian Suspension Bridge

        Yu Li,Zhe Chen,Shi-Jie Dong,Jia-Wu Li 대한토목학회 2021 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.25 No.10

According to a long-span pedestrian suspension bridge, the sectional models of the human-footbridge system were proposed, and then the force measurement tests were performed to study the effects of the pedestrian density (ρ), pedestrian permutation, and wind attack angle (α) on the drag force coefficient (CH), lift force coefficient (CV), and pitching moment coefficient (CM), respectively. So, it is found that: (1) with the increase of ρ, both CH and CV with α < -2o increase, while both CV with α ≥ -2o and CM with ρ ≠ 0.0 P/m2 decrease. (2) when ρ> 0.2 P/m2, there is a significant effect of the pedestrian permutations on CH and CM, while the effect of the pedestrian permutations on CV is small. Then, the static wind forces were calculated and applied to the pedestrian suspension bridge, and the effects of ρ and pedestrian permutations on the aerostatic response were studied. So, it is found that: 1) with the increase of ρ, the aerostatic response increases; 2) the effects of the pedestrian permutations with ρ ≤ 0.5 P/m2 on the aerostatic response can be ignored, while there are disadvantageous effects of the pedestrian permutations with ρ > 0.5 P/m2 and larger wind-blocking area on the aerostatic response.

Influence of track irregularities in high-speed Maglev transportation systems

        Huang, Jing Yu,Wu, Zhe Wei,Shi, Jin,Gao, Yang,Wang, Dong-Zhou Techno-Press 2018 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.21 No.5

Track irregularities of high-speed Maglev lines have significant influence on ride comfort. Their adjustment is of key importance in the daily maintenance of these lines. In this study, an adjustment method is proposed and track irregularities analysis is performed. This study considers two modules: an inspection module and a vehicle-guideway coupling vibration analysis module. In the inspection module, an inertial reference method is employed for field-measurements of the Shanghai high-speed Maglev demonstration line. Then, a partial filtering, integration method, resampling method, and designed elliptic filter are employed to analyze the detection data, which reveals the required track irregularities. In the analysis module, a vehicle-guideway interaction model and an electromagnetic interaction model were developed. The influence of the measured line irregularities is considered for the calculations of the electromagnetic force. Numerical integration method was employed for the calculations. Based on the actual field detection results and analysis using the numerical model, a threshold analysis method is developed. Several irregularities modalities with different girder end's deviations were considered in the simulations. The inspection results indicated that long-wavelength irregularities with larger girder end's deviations were the dominant irregularities. In addition, the threshold analysis of the girder end's deviation shows that irregularities that have a deviation amplitude larger than 6 mm and certain modalities (e.g., M- and N-shape) are unfavorable. These types of irregularities should be adjusted during the daily maintenance.

Improvement of ATP regeneration efficiency and operation stability in porcine interferon-α production by Pichia pastoris under lower induction temperature

        Minjie Gao,Zhongping Shi,Shijuan Dong,Ruisong Yu,Jianrong Wu,Zhiyong Zheng,Xiaobei Zhan 한국화학공학회 2011 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.28 No.6

The performance of traditional heterologous protein production by Pichia pastoris with methanol induction at 30 ℃ is poor, characterized by low ATP regeneration rate and weak operation stability. A low temperature induction strategy at 20 ℃ was thus adopted for efficient porcine interferon-α production in a 10 L fermentor. With the strategy, maximal methanol tolerance level could reach about 40 g/L to effectively deal with methanol concentration variations,so that the complicated on-line methanol measurement system could be eliminated. Moreover, metabolic analysis based on multiple state-variables measurements indicated that pIFN-α antiviral activity enhancement profited from the formation of an efficient ATP regeneration system at 20℃ induction. Compared to the induction strategy at 30 ℃, the proposed strategy increased the ATP regeneration rate by 49-66%, the maximal p_IFN-α antiviral activity was enhanced about 20-fold and reached a higher level of 1.5×10^6 IU/mL.

Ganoderic acid A attenuates high‑fat‑diet‑induced liver injury in rats by regulating the lipid oxidation and liver inflammation

        Fuli Liu,Kejian Shi,Jiaojiao Dong,Zhousheng Jin,Yiquan Wu,Yaoyao Cai,Tingting Lin,Qianqian Cai,Le Liu,Yujian Zhang 대한약학회 2020 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.43 No.7

Ganoderic Acid A (GA) has many pharmacologicaleffects such as anti-tumor, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory,and immunosuppressive effects. However, the protectiveeffect of GA on liver injury has not been reported. Thisstudy aimed to investigate the action of GA on insufficientmethionine and choline combined with high-fat diet (HFD)-induced non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in rats. NAFLD model was established by insufficient methionineand choline combined with high fat feeding to rats. The levelsof Acetyl-CoA carboxylase, fatty acid synthase, sterolregulatory element binding protein, liver X receptors, AMPactivatedprotein kinase, peroxisome proliferator-activatedreceptor α, PPARg coactivator 1α and NF-κB pathway inthe liver were detected by western blot. The results of thisstudy demonstrated that the expression of GA can not onlysignificantly decrease the live weight and liver weight perbody weight of HFD mice, but also restore the alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, total bilirubinlevels, triglyceride and cholesterol in serum. In addition, the expression of GA increased the levels of high-densitylipoprotein cholesterol in serum, ameliorated pathologicalchanges and decreased NAS score of mice’s liver. In conclusion, the treatment with GA could improve NAFLD in ratsby regulating the levels of signaling events involved in freefatty acid production, lipid oxidation and liver inflammation.
