<P>We have designed and synthesized novel symmetrical (4a, 4b) and unsymmetrical (6) copper (II), zinc (II) Phthalocyanine derivatives with (4-methoxynaphthalen-1-yl)oxy) and fluoro substitution. For this synthesis we started from nucleophilic substitution of fluorine atoms in tetrafluorophthalonitrile by 4-methoxy naphthoxy groups. The resulting three phthalocyanines have been fully characterized by a series of spectroscopic methods including electronic absorption, elemental analysis, MALDI-TOF mass, and IR spectroscopy. These phthalocyanine complexes were investigated by cyclic voltammetric measurements to observe the both metal-based and phthalocyanine ring-based reduction and oxidation electron transfer processes.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this study, the synthesis of di(ethylene glycol) naphthalene substituted metal-phthalocyanines was reported. These novel phthalocyanines were characterized by elemental and spectroscopic analysis, including 1H NMR, FT-IR, UV–Vis spectral and MALDI-TOF mass data. The aggregation behavior of these phthalocyanines was examined in chloroform at different concentrations, and we confirmed that the phthalocyanines were non-aggregated. Further thermal stability, electrochemical, theoretical studies and metal sensing properties also investigated. In addition, we successfully prepared phthalocyanine (<B>6d</B>) blended polyurethane electrospun (ES) nanofibers.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> In this study, the synthesis of di(ethylene glycol) naphthalene substituted metal-phthalocyanines was reported. </LI> <LI> Electrochemical studies suggested that the kinetics of the electrochemical reactions is diffusion-controlled. </LI> <LI> Here we successfully demonstrated the metal binding property of phthalocyanine <B>6a.</B> </LI> <LI> We prepared phthalocyanine (<B>6d</B>) blended polyurethane electrospun (ES) nanofibers. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this study, the synthesis of a new zinc porphyrin hybrid (<B>CNU-TJK</B>) is reported. This novel metal porphyrin was characterized by 1H NMR, FT-IR, UV–Vis and HR-MS analysis. This porphyrin shows a strong solvatochromism that is reflected by its absorption and emission maxima in different solvents. The reversible thermochromic property of this dye was investigated at different temperatures by UV–Vis studies in toluene. The large thermochromic effect detected for the dye was attributed to pyridyl, phenyl and acetylene groups, whose association and dissociation dynamics in toluene lead to an absorption spectral change with temperature, accompanied by a change in color. The axial coordination studies also conducted and finally, DFT calculations were performed to rationalize the dye structures.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> In the present study, porphyrin dye was synthesized and fully characterized. </LI> <LI> The thermochromic, solvatochromic and sensing properties of the dye were evaluated by UV–Vis and emission studies. </LI> <LI> DFT calculations were conducted to rationalize the dye structure. </LI> <LI> The thermochromic property of this compound was studied in toluene, different temperature variations. </LI> <LI> This is the first attempt of a study of solvatochromism and axial coordination studies of pyridyl-porphyrin monomers. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this study, a phenothiazine-carbazole electrochromic copolymer (CNU-CKP) was designed and prepared and fully confirmed by their 1H NMR, FT-IR, UV–vis, GPC and CV analyses. For this copolymer, we investigated its electrochromic properties by making an electrochromic cell. This cell consisted of polymer-spray-coated ITO glass and a gel electrolyte. We achieved good cyclic stability and electrochromic switching results with interesting color changes. Finally, the experimental results were compared with theoretical studies.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this study, we synthesized porphyrin dyes and structurally characterized them using 1H and 13C NMR and FT-IR and high-resolution mass spectrometry. By using these porphyrins, new TiO2-porphyrin catalysts (<B>TiO</B> <B>2</B> <B>-PORPC-1</B>, <B>TiO</B> <B>2</B> <B>-PORPC-2, TiO</B> <B>2</B> <B>-PORPC-3</B> and <B>TiO</B> <B>2</B> <B>-PORPC-4</B>), were prepared and the structures of these catalysts were confirmed by using SEM, TEM, solid-state UV-visible spectroscopy, XPS, FT-IR spectroscopy and EDS analysis. Studies on the photodegradation of methylene blue suggested that our TiO2-porphyrin photocatalysts were more effective for the degradation than bare TiO2-anatase, and furthermore, TiO2-Zn-porphyrins showed better photocatalytic activity than the metal-free TiO2-porphyrins because of their high charge-transfer properties. We evaluated the stability of the TiO2-porphyrins by repeatability test. Finally, we proposed a plausible mechanism for the photocatalytic activity.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Novel TiO2-porphyrin catalysts were prepared and characterized. </LI> <LI> Photocatalysts showed high activity in Methylene Blue (MB) degradation. </LI> <LI> TiO2-porphyrin photocatalysts were more effective than bare TiO2-anatase. </LI> <LI> TiO2-Zn-porphyrins showed better activity than nonmetalated TiO2-porphyrins. </LI> <LI> The plausible photocatalytic mechanism was projected. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>
