      • Autocorrelation's Effect on Process Capability Analysis

        The deviation of process output is usually estimated through the range or deviation of the sub-samples in the calculation of process capability indices (PCI) in quality management. There are autocorrelation between the adjacent data in many practical process outputs. But this influence on PCI is not considered in process capability analysis. The autocorrelation of output data can be represented with time-series model. Based on the several stationary stochastic process models of the time-series analysis, the impact of the sampling method, sub-sample size and deviation estimating methods in standard statistical process control are analyzed via simulation for the processes with autocorrelation. The autocorrelation testing of process should be undertaken in these cases. The proper analysis methods are set up in the paper.

        RNA polymerase I subunit D activated by Yin Yang 1 transcription promote cell proliferation and angiogenesis of colorectal cancer cells

        This study aims to explore possible effect of RNA polymerase I subunit D (POLR1D) on proliferation and angiogenesis ability of colorectal cancer (CRC) cells and mechanism herein. The correlation of POLR1D and Yin Yang 1 (YY1) expressions with prognosis of CRC patients in TCGA database was analyzed. Quantitative realtime polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and Western blot were applied to detect expression levels of POLR1D and YY1 in CRC cell lines and CRC tissues. SW480 and HT- 29 cells were transfected with si-POLR1D or pcDNA3.1-POLR1D to achieve POLR1D suppression or overexpression before cell migration, angiogenesis of human umbilical vein endothelial cells were assessed. Western blot was used to detect expressions of p38 MAPK signal pathway related proteins and interaction of YY1 with POLR1D was confirmed by dual luciferase reporter gene assay and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP). TCGA data showed that both POLR1D and YY1 expressions were up-regulated in CRC patients. High expression of POLR1D was associated with poor prognosis of CRC patients. The results showed that POLR1D and YY1 were highly expressed in CRC cell lines. Inhibition or overexpression of POLR1D can respectively suppress or enhance proliferation and angiogenesis of CRC cells. YY1 inhibition can suppress CRC progression and deactivate p38 MAPK signal pathway, which can be counteracted by POLR1D overexpression. JASPAR predicted YY1 can bind with POLR1D promoter, which was confirmed by dual luciferase reporter gene assay and ChIP. YY1 transcription can up-regulate POLR1D expression to activate p38 MAPK signal pathway, thus promoting proliferation and angiogenesis ability of CRC cells

        A New Anthracene-based Small Molecule as Cathode Interlayer for Efficient Polymer Solar Cells

        A new small molecule with excellent electron-transporting property, namely 9,10-bis(2-(N-octyl-1,8-naphthalimid-4-yl)ethynyl)anthracene (BNA), is prepared and characterized. A polymer solar cell (PSC) based on poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and [6,6]-phenylC61-butyricacidmethyl ester (PC61BM) is also fabricated by using BNA as the cathode buffer layer between the Al electrode and photoactive layer, and their influence on the performance of the PSCs is investigated. It is found that the open-circuit voltage (V oc ), short-circuit current density (J sc ), and power conversion efficiency (PCE) of a device with a 6-nm BNA layer improved to 0.63 V, 9.74 mA/cm2, and 3.74%, respectively, which correspond to an increase of 53.6%, 38.0%, and 177% compared to those without the buffer layer. The BNA buffer layer could effectively improve the interfacial contact performance between the Al electrode and photoactive layer, decrease the series resistance, and improve the collection efficiency of carriers. The devices with appropriate thickness of the BNA buffer layer can also replace the common low-work-function metal Ca for increasing the PCE and lifetime of PSCs.

        Acoustic emission characterization and cracking characteristics of reinforced concrete pipe

        Acoustic emission (AE) and digital image correlation (DIC) technology were used in this study to monitor the behavior of reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) in the optimized three-edge bearing test (TEBT). At the same time, the AE source location of different pipe sections was simulated. The results show that the whole compressive loading process for RCP could be divided into 3 to 4 stages. Both the AE counts and AE energy could well characterize the cracking of concrete, and AE energy was more sensitive to the breaking of steel bar. The amplitude and duration of AE signal produced by the breaking of steel bar were larger than those produced by the cracking of concrete. The AE frequency for concrete cracking was relatively scattered. The AE frequency for steel bar breaking was small and concentrated, and this frequency distribution showed an exponential decreasing trend. The results of optimized AE source location showed that the generation and development of cracks occur in the initial loading stage. The results of multi-index analysis showed that the cracks in the top (loading position) and the bottom (bearing position) of the RCP show that the cracks extend from the inner wall to the outer wall, while the cracks on the left and right sides perpendicular to the loading direction show that the cracks extend from the outer wall to the inner wall.

        Video Watermarking Algorithm for H.264 Scalable Video Coding

        Because H.264/SVC can meet the needs of different networks and user terminals, it has become more and more popular. In this paper, we focus on the spatial resolution scalability of H.264/SVC and propose a blind video watermarking algorithm for the copyright protection of H.264/SVC coded video. The watermark embedding occurs before the H.264/SVC encoding, and only the original enhancement layer sequence is watermarked. However, because the watermark is embedded into the average matrix of each macro block, it can be detected in both the enhancement layer and base layer after downsampling, video encoding, and video decoding. The proposed algorithm is examined using JSVM, and experiment results show that is robust to H.264/SVC coding and has little influence on video quality.

        Cloning of porcine chemerin, ChemR23 and GPR1 and their involvement in regulation of Lipogenesis

        Chemerin is a novel adipokine which is abundant in adipose tissue to promote adipocyte differentiation and with significant relativity to BMI and insulin sensitivity. We report here the molecular characterization of porcine chemerin and its receptors ChemR23 and GPR1, as well as their transcriptional regulation during lipogenesis. Chemerin was mainly expressed in liver, intestine, kidney and adipose tissue, consistent with the expression pattern of GPR1, but not ChemR23, which was predominantly present in spleen and temperately in adipose tissue. We further investigated the lipogenesis-related transcriptional activation of PPARγ and KLF15 on chemerin and its receptors. The data showed that KLF15, but not PPARγ, can up-regulate the mRNA level of chemerin, ChemR23 and GPR1, which was consistent with the results of luciferase assay that confirmed the effect of KLF15 on ChemR23 promoter. Taken together, our data provide basic molecular information for the further investigation on the function of chemerin in lipogenesis. [BMB reports 2010; 43(7): 491-498]

        Synthesis and Photovoltaic Properties of Alternating Conjugated Polymers Derived from Thiophene-Benzothiadiazole Block and Fluorene/Indenofluorene Units

        A new donor-accepter-donor-accepter-donor (D-A-D-A-D) type 2,1,3-benzothiadiazole-thiophene-based acceptor unit 2,5-di(4-(5-bromo-4-octylthiophen-2-yl)-2,1,3-benzothiadiazol-7-yl)thiophene (DTBTTBr2) was synthesized. Copolymerized with fluorene and indeno[1,2-b]fluorene electron-rich moieties, two alternating narrow band gap (NBG) copolymers PF-DTBTT and PIF-DTBTT were prepared. And two copolymers exhibit broad and strong absorption in the range of 300-700 nm with optical band gap of about 1.75 eV. The highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energy levels vary between –5.43 and –5.52 eV and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels range from –3.64 to –3.77 eV. Potential applications of the copolymers as electron donor material and PC71BM ([6,6]-phenyl-C71 butyric acid methyl ester) as electron acceptors were investigated for photovoltaic solar cells (PSCs). Photovoltaic performances based on the blend of PF-DTBTT/PC71BM (w:w; 1:2) and PIF-DTBTT/PC71BM (w:w; 1:2) with devices configuration as ITO/ PEDOT: PSS/blend/Ca/Al, show an incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency (IPCE) of 2.34% and 2.56% with the open circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.87 V and 0.90 V, short circuit current density (Jsc) of 6.02 mA/ cm2 and 6.12 mA/cm2 under an AM1.5 simulator (100 mW/cm2). The photocurrent responses exhibit the onset wavelength extending up to 720 nm. These results indicate that the resulted narrow band gap copolymers are viable electron donor materials for polymer solar cells.

        Tissues Expression, Polymorphisms Identification of FcRn Gene and Its Relationship with Serum Classical Swine Fever Virus Antibody Level in Pigs

        Neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) gene encodes a receptor that binds the Fc region of monomeric immunoglobulin G (IgG) and is responsible for IgG transport and stabilization. In this report, the 8,900 bp porcine FcRn genomic DNA structure was identified and putative FcRn protein included 356 amino acids. Alignment and phylogenetic analysis of the porcine FcRn amino acid sequences with their homologies of other species showed high identity. Tissues expression of FcRn mRNA was detected by real time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (Q-PCR), the results revealed FcRn expressed widely in ten analyzed tissues. One single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) (HQ026019:g.8526 C>T) in exon6 region of porcine FcRn gene was demonstrated by DNA sequencing analysis. A further analysis of SNP genotypes associated with serum Classical Swine Fever Virus antibody (anti-CSFV) concentration was performed in three pig populations including Large White, Landrace and Songliao Black pig (a Chinese indigenous breed). Our results of statistical analysis showed that the SNP had a highly significant association with the level of anti-CSFV antibody (At d 20; At d 35) in serum (p = 0.008; p = 0.0001). Investigation of expression and polymorphisms of the porcine FcRn gene will help us in further understanding the molecular basis of the antibody regulation pathway in the porcine immune response. All these results indicate that FcRn gene might be regarded as a molecular marker for genetic selection of anti-CSFV antibody level in pig disease resistance breeding programmes.

        Tissues Expression, Polymorphisms of IFN Regulatory Factor 6 (IRF6) Gene and Their Associated with Immune Traits in Three Pig Populations

        Interferon regulatory factor 6 (IRF6) gene is a member of the IRF-family, and plays functionally diverse roles in the regulation of the immune system. In this report, the 13,720 bp porcine IRF6 genomic DNA structure was firstly identified with a putative IRF6 protein of 467 amino acids. Alignment and phylogenetic analysis of the porcine IRF6 amino acid sequences with their homologies to other species showed high identity (over 96%). Tissues expression of IRF6 mRNA was observed by RT-PCR, the results revealed IRF6 expressed widely in eight tissues. One SNP (HQ026023:1383 G>C) in exon7 and two SNPs (HQ026023:130 G>A; 232 C>T) in the 5′ promoter region of porcine IRF6 gene were demonstrated by DNA sequencing analysis. A further analysis of SNP genotypes associated with immune traits including IFN-${\gamma}$ and IL10 concentrations in serum was carried out in three pig populations including Large White, Landraces and Songliao Black pig (a Chinese indigenous breed). The results showed that the SNP (HQ026023:1383 G>C) was significantly associated with the level of IFN-${\gamma}$ (d 20) in serum (p = 0.038) and the ratio of IFN-${\gamma}$ to IL10 (d 20) in serum (p = 0.041); The other two SNPs (HQ026023:130 G>A; 232 C>T) were highly significantly associated with IL10 level in serum both at the day 20 (p = 0.005; p = 0.001) and the day 35 (p = 0.004; p = 0.006). Identification of the porcine IRF6 gene will help our further understanding of the molecular basis of the IFN regulation pathway in the porcine immune response. All these results should indicate that the IRF6 gene can be regarded as a molecular marker associated with the IL10 level in serum and used for genetic selection in the pig breeding.

        Finite element analysis of high-density polyethylene pipe in pipe gallery of nuclear power plants

        High density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe has many advantages over metallic pipe, and has been used in non-safety related application for years in some nuclear power plants (NPPs). Recently, HDPE pipe was introduced into safety related applications. The main difference between safety-related and non-safety-related pipes in NPPs is the design method of extra loadings such as gravity, temperature, and earthquake. In this paper, the mechanical behavior of HDPE pipe under various loads in pipe gallery was studied by finite element analysis (FEA). Stress concentrations were found at the fusion regions on inner surface of mitered elbows of HDPE pipe system. The effects of various factors were analyzed, and the influence of various loads on the damage of HDPE pipe system were evaluated. The results of this paper provide a reference for the design of nuclear safety-related Class 3 HDPE pipe. In addition, as the HDPE pipes analyzed in this paper were suspended in pipe gallery, it can also serve as a supplementary reference for current ASME standard on Class 3 HDPE pipe, which only covers the application for buried pipe application.
