비상하는 나무 이미지의 상징적 표현연구 : 본인 작품 <비상>시리즈를 중심으로 = (A) Study on the symbolism of 'image of flying trees' : focused on my < Flying >series

국문 초록 (Abstract)

현대는 정보화시대이며 다양화시대라고 할 수 있다. 현대인들은 극단적인 개인주의, 점점 더 양극화되는 사회에 살고 있다. 또한, 보편적으로 불안한 미래, 인터넷과 디지털 기술의 도래로 인한 통제할 수 없는 개방으로 인하여 익명의 관계성. 자아 상실, 풍요 속의 빈곤, 소외 등과 같은 고민들을 안고 산다.
‘예술’은 예술가와 그의 소산인 예술작품과 그것을 바라보는 감상자와 그 같은 예술을 잉태하게 한 사회를 모두 포괄한다. 화가의 최초의 임무는 자신의 캔버스에 정신을 부여하여 곧 생명화(animate)하는 일이다. 또한 예술작품이란 하나의 복잡하지만 명료하고 간결한 사상에 대하여 사고하는 율동적(rhythmic) 감정으로부터 시작한다. 생명, 사랑, 자아성(selfhood), 그리고 감정에 있어서 가장 거대한 영역이 되는 죽음에의 인식에 이르기까지의 정서적인 과정을 전체적으로 상징한다.
본 연구는 작품에서 나타나는 비상하는 나무 이미지 분석을 통해 무의식적인 공간에서 느끼는 희열을 현대인도 함께 공감하기 위한 목적으로 쓰여졌다. 그리고 심리적 상황을 다른 공간을 통해 희극적으로 표현한 것을 체계적으로 연구한다. 작품의 형식은 제한된 색채로 사물의 배치에 있어서 두 사물을 다른 사물로 대체하여 다른 이미지를 연출시키는 것이 아니라 정신적으로 사물이 그 공간에 놓일 수밖에 없는 상황을 만들어 재해석 한다. 따라서 작품의 목적은 화면의 ‘비상하는 나무 이미지’가 나타내는 상징성을 동양적인 사유법을 통해 바라본 이상향의 공간으로 관찰자에게 제시한다. 그리고 사물을 통해 진정한 의미의 메타포를 형성하는 것이다.
본 연구자는 자연적인 ‘비상하는 나무 이미지’를 통하여 현 시대상을 재해석된 이미지로 표현했다. 그 결과 일상의 삶에 활력을 주어 긍정적인 메세지를 표현하는 것이 본 연구의 의의라 할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Modern times can be called information-oriented era. We live in society overwhelmed with extremely radical individualism and gradually more polarizing tendency. In addition, we live with the unavoidable agony of anonymous relationship, loss of ego, self-effacement, poverty in the midst of plenty, and expanded alienation, etc.

‘Art’ shall include the artists, artistic works that are produced by them, the appreciators who look at the artistic works and the society that causes the pregnancy of the art works. Initial duty of a painter shall be to grant a soul on his or her canvas so that the artistic work can be animated with soul. Furthermore, we should know that an artistic work shall be started from a thinking rhythmic emotion to a complex but clear and brief idea. As the result, the artistic work shall symbolize totally the emotional progresses of life, love, selfhood, and even up to the death, the greatest area of emotion of human beings.

This study is made by the author of the thesis with the purpose to feel sympathy on the ecstasy in unconscious space of art through the analysis of images of flying trees depicted in the works. In addition, the author would consider the issues systematically that are expressed comically from psychological situations through other space.
Pattern of the works would not be to produce a different image by substitution for two things with other things but rather to produce an unavoidable situation where the things cannot but be there psychologically so that the work can be reinterpreted artistically and totally. Therefore, purpose of the work shall present the observers symbolism that the ‘Image of Flying Trees’ expresses on the scene as an idealistic space of paradise of the artistic work viewed and expressed through the law of Oriental thought. And the author would form metaphor in genuine sense through the arranged things on the scene.

The author of the thesis would express the phenomenal phases of the modern times as a reinterpreted image through the natural ‘Image of Flying Trees’. Meaning of the study would be to express a positive message through vitalization to our usual life.
