(Abstract)
The purpose of this study is to check whether or not the textbook is properly compiled as a tool that realizes the curriculum, well reflecting the contents of the 7th curriculum of Korean language. For that purpose, the relationless between the contents of the 7th curriculum of Korean language and the textbook was reviewed. The 'Chapter 3. Content' of the 7th Korean curriculum is composed of 'the system of contents' and 'contents by school years', of which what is closely related to the contents of textbook is 'contents by school years'. Therefore the relationless between the contents by school years in curriculum and the chapters of the textbook was considered focusing on listening and speaking area of the textbook 「practical Korean」.
First of all, the meaning and function of the curriculum and the textbook, and based on them, the continuity between the curriculum and the textbook were investigated. The process revealed that it is necessary to accomplish the goal of the curriculum and to have the relationless between the textbook and the curriculum to realize the curriculum concretely.
Then, a concrete standard of analysis was prepared for the purpose. It was found out that the 'contents by school years' and 'explanation of the contents by school years' presented in the manual of middle school curriculum has the same constitution as that of textbook contents. Therefore the standard of analysis in the area of listening and speaking was presented comparing the content by school years and the textbook contents of the curriculum that have the same constitution.
Based on the standard of analysis, the relationless was investigated between the contents by school years of the curriculum and the object of learning in the area of listening and speaking. Analysis showed that out of the contents by school years of the curriculum, four items of listening area and two items of speaking area were omitted from the chapters of the textbook. In case of 8th school year, three items by school years of speaking area were presented repeatedly in the chapters of the textbook.
The part explaining the contents by school years of the curriculum was divided into three, 'the reason of selecting the contents and the explanation of the concept', 'the contents and method of teaching and learning', and 'basic and profound activity', and the relationless with the textbook that has the same constitution was examined thoroughly. Analysis showed that the chapters that reflect the intention of curriculum fully and have the proper continuity with the explanation of the contents by school years were only 7 out of total 14 chapters.
The result shows that the contents of the curriculum has not been fully applied to the listening and speaking chapters of the textbook. That is why the suggestion was presented to ensure a proper continuity between the curriculum contents and the textbook.
This study analyzed the relationless between the curriculum contents and the textbook to check whether or not the textbook is properly compiled as a tool that realizes the curriculum contents. It is expected that this study is useful for preparing a standard of learning contents, a standard of what to teach.
