꽃의 형태와 색의 상징성 연구 : 본인의 “Energy of Flower” 연작을 중심으로 = Study on Symbolism of the Colors and the Forms of Flowers : Focus on the Energy of Flower Series

Nature can grant rich plenty of significance to everyone, about which many artists have infinite yearning and zeal. This emotion is connected to a willing to reproduce a new style without making a pause as a simple sentiment, until it becomes a new creative work of beauty, in other words, art. The artists looking for motif of a work in nature capture and express the substance that it has its own existence rule and meaning even at the finest thing in it. When creating nature as an artistic work, the artist does not look at only visible exterior section, but transmits a message with it mixed with his or her internal world.
The flower gave unlimited fantasy to me, with whose transmitted message I express woman's holy beauty and overflowing energy. The images of the shown in work are human sentiment revealed through light, and mysterious interests given by color, which symbolizes vitality, and produces liberal mood in the change of feeling and form.
My workings brings out unceasing imagination from the viewers and invokes vividness, tries to transmit hopeful energy where I sort out the media called flowers in the beauty of vitality led by nature, and maximumly express soft surface and organic form appearing in the work with formative language.
It is due to the attributes of color that color becomes the tool of a man expressing his internal world, and exploring this world. When the color is contrasted with other surrounding colors by its own shape, it creates more weird.
Such attributes of color makes a man realize his existence, while he tastes contradictory experience to deny his existence. This is the very experience of color mystery. The mysteriousness has its substantial shape not in the process to certify its concrete subject in a rational and reasonable norm than in the emotional desire to die away its shape, and recognize absolute existence. Past recollections, a strip of light and images revealed in the contrast of black and white indicate the mystery of the very creation and transformation by color.
Ernst Hans Josef Gombrich said “Color is a factor having resort to human emotion, and bringing about emotional response, playing a key role in visual art.”. Experiencing color stimulates even to the bottom layer of a mind. The flower is erotic, which is expressed as various art work as the times, philosophical, aesthetical value change.
In this context, I endeavor to come up with a vitality, feminity and energy through <a study on the symbolism through the form of a flower>. Also I make an attempt to combine revealed eroticism, nature of life, specific emotion with visual language and pictorialism, and make the internal world of a man a formative shape.
In this vision, I try to convey the vitality and beauty of the flower, dismantle or visualize diverse shapes of expended and reduced dangled flowers to energy-full and passionate color, giving mystery. The flower as the materials of a work can be said to a fantastic and huge messenger of love and hope showing external and internal beauty with color.
Thus, I would like to inquire into the symbolism of color expressed through the form of a flower abstractly describing the internal world of a woman.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

자연은 누구에게나 풍부한 의미를 부여할 수 있으며 많은 예술가들은 자연에 대한 끊임없는 동경과 열망을 가지고 있다. 이러한 감정이 단순한 감상의 차원에서 그치지 않고 그것을 새로운 형식으로 재현하고자 하는 의욕으로 이어질 때, 이것이 곧 아름다움의 새로운 창조적 작업 즉, 예술이 되는 것이다. 자연에서 작품의 모티브를 찾는 예술가들은 자연의 가장 미세한 것조차도 그 자체의 존재 법칙과 의미를 갖고 있다는 그 본질을 이해하고 표현한다. 자연을 예술 작품으로 창조할 때 작가는 눈에 보이는 외면적 단면만을 보지 않고 항상 작가의 내면세계와 결합해 메시지를 실어 보인다.
꽃은 본인에게 무한한 환상을 주었고 전달하는 메시지는 여성의 성스러운 아름다움과 넘치는 에너지를 표현한다. 작업에서 보여지는 꽃의 모습들은 빛을 통해 드러나는 인간의 감성과 색채가 주는 신비로운 감흥들인데 이것은 생명력을 상징하며, 느낌과 형태의 변화에서 자체적으로 자유스러운 조형성을 연출한다. 본인의 작업은 보는 이로 하여금 무한대의 상상력을 갖게 하며 생기를 불러일으키고 희망찬 에너지를 전달하고자 하며, 자연이 주도하는 생명력의 아름다움 중에서 꽃이란 매채를 선택하여 작품에 나타나는 부드러운 표면과 유기적 형태, 자연이 가진 생명력을 조형적 언어로 극대화 하여 표현한 것이다.
색이 인간의 내면세계를 나타내고 또 이 세계를 탐색하는 사람의 도구가 될 수 없었던 것은 바로 색의 속성 때문이다. 색은 스스로의 모습에 의해서가 아니라 주위의 다른 색들과 대비될 때, 더욱 신비한 이미지를 만들어 낸다. 이런 색의 속성은 인간에게 자신의 존재를 인식하게 만들면서도 자신의 존재를 부정해야 하는 모순된 경험을 하게한다. 이것이 바로 색채 신비의 경험이다. 신비감은 이성적이고 합리적인 규범 속에 있는 자신의 구체적인 실체를 확인하는 과정에서 보다는 자신의 모습이 사라지고 절대의 존재를 인식하게 되는 감성의 욕구 속에서 구체화 된다. 마치 흑백의 대비에서 드러나는 과거의 회상이나 어둠 속의 한 줄기 빛과 이미지들은 바로 색에 의한 창조와 변신의 신비를 나타내는 것이다. 어네스트 곰브리치(Ernst Hans Josef Gombrich)는 “색채는 인간의 감정에 호소하며 정서적 반응을 불러일으키는 요소로서 시각예술에 있어 중요한 역할을 수행한다.”고 했다. 색의 경험은 마음의 심층까지도 자극한다. 꽃은 ‘에로티시즘(eroticism)’ 적이며 시대의 변화와 철학과 미적 가치가 변하면서 다양한 미술 작품으로도 표현된다. 본인은 이러한 맥락에서 <꽃의 형태와 색의 상징성 연구>를 통하여 자연이 발산하는 생명력, 여성성과 에너지를 제시하고자 한다. 또한 작품에서 나타나는 성적 에로티시즘이나 생명의 본질, 특유의 감성을 시각적 언어와 회화성을 결합시킴으로써 자연을 통하여 인간의 내면적인 세계를 조형화 시키려 한다.
이러한 시각에서 꽃의 생명력과 아름다움을 전달하고 확대, 축소하여 늘어지는 꽃들의 다양한 모습들을 강렬하고, 에너지가 넘치는 열정적인 색채로 해체 또는 이미지화 시켜서 신비로움을 주려고 한다. 작품의 소재인 꽃은 외&#8228;내형적인 아름다움을 색채로 보여주는 환상적이면서 거대한 사랑과 희망의 메신저라고 하겠다. 이와 같이 여성의 내면적 세계를 추상적으로 묘사한 꽃의 형상을 통해서 표출되는 색의 상징성을 연구한다.
