삶의 의미의 중요도, 일치도와 심리적 건강의 관계 및 삶의 의미 증진 과정에서희망의 매개효과

국문 초록 (Abstract)

삶의 의미는 인간의 심리적 건강에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 보고되고 있으나, 삶의 의미가 어떤 과정을 통해 심리적 건강에 영향을 미치는지에 대해서는 실증적 연구가 부족하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 삶의 의미의 중요도, 일치도와 심리적 건강의 관계를 살펴보고, 삶의 의미의 증진 과정에서 희망의 역할에 대해 살펴보고자 했다. 대학생 집단(N=210)을 대상으로 연구자의 가설을 반영하는 연구 모형과 두 개의 대안 모형을 설정한 후 구조방정식 분석을 실시하여 각 모형의 적합도를 비교 검증하였다. 그 결과, (1) 삶의 의미의 중요도가 삶의 의미의 일치도의 매개를 통해 심리적 건강에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, (2) 삶의 의미의 중요도가 희망의 매개를 통해 삶의 의미의 일치도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, (3) 삶의 의미의 중요도가 희망과 삶의 의미의 일치도의 이중매개를 통해 심리적 건강에 영향을 미친다는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 삶에서 중요한 의미를 자각하고 이와 일치된 삶을 살아갈 때 심리적 건강이 증진될 수 있음을 보여주고 있으며, 삶의 의미를 증진하는 과정에서 희망을 강화하는 것이 심리적 건강을 개선하는데 유용하다는 것을 시사하고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The current study examined the relationships among the importance, consistency of meaning in life and psychological health, and the role of hope in the process enhancing meaning in life. Using the sample of university students, one hypothesized and two alternative models were tested by structural equation modeling. The results showed that the effects of importance of meaning in life on psychological health were mediated by consistency of meaning in life. Second, the effects of importance of meaning in life on psychological health were mediated by hope. Third, the effects of importance of meaning in life on psychological health were mediated by both consistency of meaning in life and hope. These findings suggest that an individual’s psychological health may be enhanced when they acknowledge importance of meaning in life and live their lives accordingly and when they find hope in their lives.
