아동의 일상적 스트레스가 사회불안에 미치는 영향 : 내적 통제성의 매개효과를 중심으로 = The Relationship between Daily Hassles and Social Anxiety of Children: The Mediating Effect of Internal Locus of Control

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effects of internal locus of control in the relationship between daily hassles and social anxiety of children. We surveyed 370 elementary school students in the fifth and sixth grades in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. The data were analyzed using t-tests, correlations and hierarchical regressions. The major findings suggested that boys reported a significantly higher level of parent-related stress than girls. Second, girls reported a significantly higher level of internal locus of control and social anxiety than boys. Third, daily hassles were positively associated with social anxiety but negatively associated with internal locus of control. Also, internal locus of control was negatively associated with social anxiety. Fourth, there was partial mediating effect of internal locus of control in the relationship between daily hassles and social anxiety. This study explored the direct effect of daily hassles on social anxiety and the indirect effect of daily hassles on social anxiety through internal locus of control. The results imply that personal cognitive factors should be considered to prevent social anxiety when planning programs or counseling for children.
