노장사상으로 본 승무의 특성 = The characteristics of Seungmu considering Taoism (Lao-tzu and Zhuangzi Philosophy)

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

There are many people who lead weary and lonely lives in modern society. Taoism is believed that is needed most in this time. Taoism (Lao-tzu and Zhuangzi Philosophy) seems to be similar to traditional dance which puts a premium on imagery in each movement. The purposes of this study are to increase the value and dignity of traditional dance and to develop the philosophy of traditional dance which can be obtained when it is regarded as Taoism. My personal learned experiences, reference books, and interview are used as a study method. As massive repertories of traditional dance can`t be examined as a unified form, this study examines a Buddhist dance, the basic dance of traditional dance and representative work. Chief of all, this study deals with the movement of Han Yeongsuk, Yi Meabang, and Jo Gapnyeo which shows the characteristics of dance style, and the characteristics of aesthetic structure. This study regards ``Tao(道)``, ``muwi(無爲)``, and ``strolling (逍遙)`` as fundamental concepts according to the philosophical point of view of Taoism of Pak Yimun. This also interprets fundamental concepts as philosophy of Taoism shown in the concept of ``Tao``, religion of Taoism in ``muwi``, and ideology of Taoism in ``strolling``. This study is examined expressing generalness, naturalness, and taste for the arts by connecting the movements, aesthetic structure, and characteristics of dance in traditional works of Seungmu(僧舞) by Han Yeongsuk, Yi Meabang, and Jo Gapnyeo with the beat (Buddhist prayer, taryeong, and a tune performed during exorcism). This study is significant in the sense that it interprets traditional dance philosophically by relating classical thoughts to it and attempts various researches in terms of preservation of traditional dance. There is also its significance as the approach to classical philosophy of traditional dance in that it decreases room for traditional dance to disappear as the characteristic of extempore traditional dance is misunderstood as the one-time or illogical thing.
