재활병원 작업치료사의 직무 스트레스, 소진 및 공감만족에 관한 연구 = Study of Job Stress, Burnout, and Compassion Satisfaction of Occupational Therapists in Rehabilitation Hospitals

This study evaluated the job stress, burnout, and compassion satisfaction of occupational therapists working in rehabilitation hospitals to determine the relationships among these factors. We recruited occupational therapists working in rehabilitation hospitals in the Yeongnam area and gathered data by questionnaires from 100 persons who understood the purpose of the study and agreed to participate. The collected data were analyzed using frequency analysis, t-tests, ANOVA, and correlation to establish co-relationships between the general characteristics of the applicants, baseline job stress, burnout, and compassion satisfaction. The score for job stress was 43.71, 23.43 for burnout, and 33.18 for compassion satisfaction. The items for job stress were statistically related to education, work experience, work position and working types; burnout was statistically related to work experience; and compassion satisfaction was statistically related to education, work experience, and work position. A meaningful correlation was obtained between job stress, burnout; and a statistically meaningful negative correlation was observed in particular between job stress and compassion satisfaction. Reduction of the burnout and increases in compassion satisfaction for occupational therapists working in rehabilitation hospitals will require methods that manage and relieve job stress. Further study on positive aspects such as compassion satisfaction is also needed, as current studies have focused primarily on the negative aspects such as job stress and burnout.
