데이터 기반 원불교학 연구의 현황과 과제|RISS 상세보기

국문 초록 (Abstract)

원불교 교단은 제3대부터 이어진 과제를 마무리하고 원불교의 세계화와 보편화를 위한 제4대 설계 계획을 실행해야 하는 시점에 와 있다. 이를 위해 데이터 기반 연구의 활성화가 필요하다는 문제의식 하에 관련 연구의 현황을 분석하였다. 먼저 연구를 위해 종합적인 학술데이터와 원문을 제공하고 있는RISS를 통해 2028개 원불교학 논문을 추출하여 검토하였다. 그 결과 데이터에 기반한 원불교학 연구가 이론적 연구에 비해 원불교학에서 차지하는 비중이 현저하게 낮음을 확인하였으며, 학위논문 연구자 중 상당수가 학위 취득후 연구를 이어가지 않는 경향을 발견하였다. 연구분야에 있어서는 일반 학생 대상 인성교육 등 일반교육에 관한 연구가 원불교와 직접 관련 있는 교화나 육영교육에 비해 비중이 높았는데, 이는 교단 행정당국과 교화현장의 관심과는 거리가 있다. 행정당국의 학술연구에 대한 재정적 투자 및 인사정책상의관심 부족과 아울러, 원불교학 학계에서도 관련 분야에서 척도개발과 그 활용이 활발하게 이루어지지 않은 영향이 있다고 보았다. 연구들의 내용을 분석한결과 연구방법론에 있어서 엄격하지 못한 점도 발견되었다. 상당수의 연구가반복측정을 통한 실험이 아닌 1회의 설문조사에 의해 이루어졌음에도 분석결과 변인들간의 상관관계를 제한적으로 해석하지 않고 인과관계로 확대해석하는 경향을 확인하였다. 반면, 일반화를 위한 양적연구 일변도에서 벗어나 원불교인들의 신앙 수행 현상을 있는 그대로 이해하는 데 목적을 둔 질적연구에 대한 관심과 시도는 긍정적이라 판단하였다. 현황 분석에 바탕하여 데이터 기반 원불교학 연구의 과제로 필요 연구과제의 확인, 제도적 지원, 척도의 활용및 개발, 교육기관의 활용, 빅데이터 분석의 필요성을 제시하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Starting from the realization of the critical need for data-driven research in -Buddhism to fulfill the ongoing objectives since the Order’s third generation and to achieve globalization and universalization in its fourth generation, this study reviewed and analyzed the current state of data-driven research in Practical Won- Buddhist studies. Initially, using the RISS database, which compiles comprehensive academic data and allows verification of original texts, 2028 Won- Buddhist academic papers and theses were extracted and reviewed. The results confirmed that data-driven Won- Buddhist research has a significantly lower proportion compared to theoretical research, and a considerable number of researchers do not continue their research after obtaining their degrees. In terms of research fields, studies on general education, such as character education for general students, had a higher proportion than studies directly related to Won- Buddhist edification, which is distant from the interests of the administrative authorities of the Won- Buddhism. This was attributed to a lack of financial investment and interest in academic research by the administrative authorities, as well as a lack of active scale development and utilization in the academic field of Won- Buddhist studies. The analysis of the contents of the research also revealed shortcomings in research methodology. Many studies interpreted limited correlations between variables as causal relationships without rigorous methods, even though they were based on a single survey rather than repeated measurements. On the other hand, the interest and attempts in qualitative research aimed at understanding the religious practices of Won- Buddhists as they are, rather than generalizing, were seen as positive. Based on the current analysis, the challenges of data-driven Won- Buddhist studies were identified as the need for necessary research tasks, institutional support, utilization and development of scales, utilization of educational institutions, and the necessity of big data analyses.
