Works produced by researchers are products about strangeness of unfamiliar things occurred by inconsistency between conventional understanding of forms and materials. Actual size and visual images from objects was similarly represented in terms of actual size and visual images. On the contrary, emotional materials were utilized in terms of physical properties.
By producing and reinterpreting objects in mass produced, cold, and solid physical properties as warm-hearted, soft, and emotional materials due to the technological innovation in modern society, they evoke surrealistic and synesthetic emotions because of original visual images and the inconsistency of reinterpreted touch information. People in turn appreciate works and actual objects from new perspective by breaking up conventional touch, weight, meaning, and emblems of objects. In this way, they focus on destroying conventional understanding, seeing life from updated perspectives, and further past situations and minds of researchers as well as people are healed.
Modern art starts to deviate from the notion that emphasizes the past visual recognition and satisfies appreciators with visual, touch, auditory, olfactory senses. People are encouraged to terminate sense frames routinely accumulated in their memories and accept new synesthetic sense. Vision accepts information passively, yet recognizing information recognition through the sense of touch interacts actively so that they came to see daily life from new standpoint.
The introduction of new synesthetic memory does not end with recognizing visual images of works. Instead, people watch their reminiscence and emotion spontaneously commingled with works by being aware of emotion and situation through five senses. The active access to objets through five senses not only composes mind, but enables you to have interests for communication by stimulating sympathy on others and their lives.
“Memory tactility” refers to “experienced” “emotional” sense of touch through five senses and it was used as a major notion in this analysis. The author gave accounts on the difference between sense of touch and touch and further examined its characteristics in this study. “Memory sense of touch” in “material imagination” that refers to the elimination of restriction through Gaston Bachelard’s imagination and the expansion of the possibility of materials influenced over human beings in terms of physiology and psychology.
This study will reconceptualize vision based on sense of touch, explore the definition of Luce Irigaray’s concept of the “sensible transcendental” who studied sense of touch as mediating sense, and study psychological effects of touch as cognitive sense based on research on visual reconceptualization. Moreover, it investigated the implication and concepts of objets symbolized by artistic intention through the modification of characters.
Works are produced by converting memorable touch having solid physical properties into contrary soft textiles. The difference between remembered information and newly recognized information regenerates synesthetic memories. In the course of alteration and reawareness, works have a single emblem.
This study and work represent textile art, which is an emotional art with which people feel and interact physically, by utilizing a tapestry technique that weaves natural textile materials such as wools and cottons one by one in order to express benignancy and coziness. Although a single thread has a color and texture, it is represented into textile art that retains various senses and emotions by commingling with other different threads. Just as various colors and textures create new physical properties, textile art is expected to expand the possibility of modern art as a communication channel where diverse thoughts and emotions are mixed and represented into new senses.
