저소득가정 청소년의 감각추구성향이 위험행동에 미치는 영향에 대한 보호요인의 조절효과 = Moderating Effects of Protective Factors on the Relationship Between Sensation Seeking and Risk Behavior of Adolescents in Lower Income family

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to identify the moderating effects of protective factors (self-efficacy, father’s monitoring and controlling, mother's monitoring and controlling, social support) on the relationship between sensation seeking and risk behavior of adolescents. Additionally, the study attempted to verify differences in the moderating effects of protective factors by socioeconomic status of family. The subjects consisted of 717 students in their second year of ten middle schools located in four cities of G-Metropolitan location. The scales used for this research included “Adolescent Risk Behavior Questionnaire,” “Sensation Seeking Scale,” “Self-Efficacy Scale,” “Parent’s Monitoring and Controlling”, and “Social Support Perception Scale”. Statistical analyses of collected data have done by hierarchical multiple regression analysis using SPSS 19 as statistical package. The results of the analysis are as follows: First, among the protective factors, self-efficacy, mother's monitoring and controlling and social support show significant moderating effects to buffer or offset negative influences of sensation seeking on the risk behaviors. Secondly, the verification results on differences of moderating effects of protective factors show that self-efficacy have significant moderating effects for both group. However, mother's monitoring and controlling have a significant moderating effect only for the low income family group, whereas social support have a significant moderating effect for the general family group. In conclusion, moderating effects of protective factors seem to vary depending upon socioeconomic status. These results suggest that it might be necessary to organize educational interventions incorporating differentiated protective factors to reduce risk behavior in adolescents.
