남아시아 유학생의 지각된 차별감이 삶의 질에 미치는 영향: 우울의 매개효과 = The Role of Perceived Discrimination on Quality of Life of South Asian International College Students: Depression as a Mediator

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 남아시아 유학생의 지각된 차별감이 삶의 질에 미치는 영향에 있어서 우울의 매개효과를 확인하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 남아시아 유학생 211명을 대상으로 2019년 5월에서 6월까지 지각된 차별감, 삶의 질, 우울을 조사하였다. 수집된 자료를 바탕으로 각 변인들 간의 관련성을 살펴보기 위해 상관관계 분석을 실시한 후, 남아시아 유학생의 우울이 지각된 차별감과 삶의 질 간의 관계를 매개하는지 알아보기 위해 회귀분석을 실시한 결과, 우울은 지각된 차별감이 삶의 질에 미치는 영향에 있어 완전 매개효과를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 남아시아 유학생의 삶의 질을 효과적으로 향상할 수 있도록 하는 방안을 마련하는데 영향을 줄 수 있을 것이다. 이를 토대로 후속 연구에 대한 제한점과 의의를 논의하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this research is to investigate the mediating role of depression on the relationship between perceived discrimination felt by South Asian college students and their perceived quality of life they enjoy. For this purpose, survey responses are gathered in May and June 2019, and 211 usable data was used to analyze the relationships among perceived discrimination, quality of life, and depression. Regression was performed to analyze the mediating effect of depression on the relationship between perceived discrimination and quality of life after performing correlation among the variables of our research. Depression is found to fully mediate the relationship between perceived discrimination and quality of life. The result of current research can be useful in finding ways to improve South Asian college students’ quality of life. Also, suggestions and topics for further studies are proposed based on the result of the study.
