영유아의 교사 애착안정성에 영향을 미치는 관련변인 연구 = Determining variables affecting infants and young children`s attachment security to their teachers

To understand what best affects young children`s secure attachment to their teachers, this study draws from comprehensive basic data covering the overall period of infancy and early childhood, analyzing infant/child individual characteristic, home variables and their relationship to teachers` variables. The study subjects were 433 children ranging from one year to five years of age(165 infants, 268 young children; 232 boys, 201 girls) of ten child care centers in ‘G’ city, their mothers, and their 62 teachers in charge(35 teachers of infant classes, 27 teachers of young children`s classes). Data analyses findings follow. 1) infant attachment security to teachers was higher for girls than for boys, but there was no significant differences in terms of age or birth order 2) Children`s attachment security to teachers was also higher for girls than for boys, and significantly higher for four and five year old children. 3) Home environment variables showed significant correlation and predictive values for young children, but not for infants, rather, teacher`s influence was greater on infants than on young children probably because of the environment off infant /teacher bonding. 4) Teacher`s educational background and career were positive predictive variables for infants, but their careers were a negative predictive variable for young children. These findings can be helpful in deciding teacher assignments and in promoting awareness through in-service education on the importance of secure attachment to infant and child development.
