과학영재 중학생과 일반 중학생의 성별과 학년에 따른 진로성숙도의 차이 = Differences in Career Maturity between the Gifted in Science and the Average Middle School Students by Gender and Grade

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근 영재에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 곳곳에서 영재교육이 실시되고 있고, 영재에 관한 연구도 활발히 이루어지고 있지만, 영재를 위한 적절한 진로지도나 상담활동은 매우 부족하며, 이에 관한 연구도 미미하다. 영재 진로 연구의 필요성에 따라 본 연구는 과학영재 중학생과 일반 중학생의 진로성숙도의 차이를 알아보고, 성별과 학년에 따른 진로성숙도의 차이를 밝히는 것을 연구의 목적으로 하였다. 연구의 대상으로 과학영재 집단으로는 부산대학교 과학영재교육원 학생 139명이 참여하였으며, 일반학생 집단으로는 일반 중학교 학생 187명이 참여하였다. 연구 결과를 살펴보면, 첫째, 과학영재 중학생은 일반 중학생에 비해 진로성숙도가 높았으며, 진로성숙도의 하위변인 모두에서도 과학영재학생이 일반학생에 비해 높은 점수를 보였다. 둘째, 과학영재 중학생 내에서는 진로성숙도에 성차가 나타나지 않았다. 그러나 학년에 따라서는 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 학년이 높을수록 진로성숙도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 일반 중학생의 경우 성차와 학년차가 모두 나타났다. 여학생이 남학생보다 진로성숙도가 높았으며, 학년이 높을수록 진로성숙도가 높았다. 본 연구는 지금까지 거의 연구되지 않은 과학영재의 진로성숙도를 일반학생과 비교하여 검토함으로써 그 차이와 특성을 밝히고 영재를 위한 진로지도와 학교상담의 필요성을 제기하였다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to find out differences in career maturity between the gifted in science and average middle school students. Differences in career maturity by gender and school grade were also investigated. The sample of this study consisted of two groups: 139 gifted students in science enrolled in the Education Center for Scientifically Gifted in Pusan National University and 187 average middle school students. The following results were obtained: First, the gifted in science showed higher scores in career maturity comparing to the average students. Second, within the gifted group, there was no difference in career maturity by gender. However, difference was found in career maturity by grade. The higher the grade, the higher the career maturity. Third, in average student group, differences in career maturity were found by both gender and grade. Average girl students showed higher scores in career maturity than average boy students, and higher-grade level students showed higher level of career maturity than lower-grade level students. In sum, the results of this study revealed differences in career maturity between gifted students in science and average middle school students and evoked the need of appropriate career counseling for both gifted and average students.
