연장입양 가족의 경험에 관한 질적 연구 = A Qualitative Research on the Experience of Families Adopting an Older Child

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to understand the experience of families adopting an older child. To achieve this purpose, 10 families adopting an older child were selected as a focus group. Researchers collected and analyzed data through in-depth and unstructured group and individual interviews. The results of data analysis were as follows：The experience of families adopting an older child consisted of `ignorant or brave`, `today`s child different from yesterday`, `monster in an older child`s mind`, `the end of the tunnel is not visible`, `survival as a family`, `finding hope at the end of despair`, and `if I knew then what I know now`. Based on these findings, this study suggested policies and practice guidelines to help families adopting an older child better adjust. Necessary follow-up studies were also proposed to overcome the limitations of this study and to ensure more extensive information on families adopting an older child.
