미국 복음주의 내 성경적 상담의 확장과 "신칼빈주의"

이 논문의 목적은 미국 복음주의 기독교상담 안에 최근에 일어나는 성경적상담 확장의 주요 원인으로‘신칼빈주의’의 부상을 고찰하는 것이다. 이 글은 먼저 성경적 상담이 복음주의 기독교상담 안에서 차지하는 위치를 검토한 후, 성경적 상담과 신칼빈주의가 어떻게 미국 복음주의권에서 확장되고 있는지를 기술한다. 이를 통해 최근의 성경적 상담 확장을 이해하기 위해서는 복음주의권에서 일어나고 있는 신칼빈주의를 고찰해야 함을 주장한다. 성경적 상담과 신칼빈주의의 연관성을 구체적으로 밝히기 위해 이 논문은 ‘신칼빈주의’의 대표적 지도자인 Timothy Keller와 John Piper의 글들과 성경적 상담의 연관성을 신학적인 영역과 상담적 영역으로 나누어 고찰한다. 구체적으로 신학적 영역에서는 칼빈주의의 특징인‘하나님 중심’‘성경중심’‘교회중심’을 그리고 상담적 영역에서는‘인간 이해’와‘동기 이론’을 고찰한 후, Keller와 Piper는 그들의 저작에서 성경적 상담과 같은 신학적, 상담학적 관점을 공유하고 있음을 지적한다. 마지막으로 이 논문은 기독교상담 연구에서 신학적 영향의 중요성을 지적하며 동시에 성경적 상담이 최근의 확장에 안주하기 보다는 그에 상응하는 구체적인 상담이론과 방법을 개발하는 연구가 필요함을 제안한다. The purpose of this study is to investigate New Calvinism’s influence as a major cause to the recent expansion of Biblical Counseling Movement in American Evangelicalism, The study first examines the status of Biblical Counseling in Evangelical Christian Counseling, and then describes how Biblical Counseling as well as New Calvinism have expanded in American evangelicalism. The study argues that to understand the rise of Biblical Counseling ‘New Calvinism” should be examined. To prove New Calvinism’s influence on Biblical Counseling, the study investigates the writings of Timothy Keller and John Piper, two important leaders of New Calvinism, in the areas of theology and counseling. The study pointed out that Biblical Counseling was founded on the principles of Reformed theology and has emphasizes God, the Bible, and Church. In the area of counseling theory, the article noted that Biblical Counseling put emphasis on biblical understanding of person and motivation of heart. Based on this examination, It was argued that Keller and Piper, in their writings, share these theological and counseling views with Biblical Counseling. As a conclusion, the study provides implication that examining theological influence in studying Christian counseling is important, and suggests that future studies need to develop concrete models of change and methods to enhance Biblical Counseling.

한국 성경적 상담 운동의 현재와 미래를 위한 과제

이 연구의 목적은 성경적 상담 운동의 배경과 새 물결의 흐름을 살펴보면서 한국 성경적 상담의 현주소를 확인하고 향후 과제에 대해 논의하는 것이다. 최근 성경적 상담은 북미 복음주의 기독교 진영 안에서 규모와 영향력을 점차 확장하고 있다. 북미에서 일어나고 있는 성경적 상담의 새 물결은 한국기독교에도 파장을 야기하고 있다. 현재 한국의 성경적 상담 운동은 전통적 성경적 상담을 넘어 진보적 성경적 상담으로 발전하는 과정에 있다. 한국의 성경적 상담 운동은 1세대 학자들이 성경적 상담의 개념과 가치, 원리를 소개하고(파종기), 1, 2세대 학자들과 실천가들이 학교와 기관 중심으로 성경적 상담의 싹을 틔우는 시기(육묘기)를 거처, 1, 2, 3세대가 함께 지역교회와 공공사회의 토양에 옮겨심기(이식기)를 시도하고 있다. 이 시점에서 한국 성경적 상담의 과제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성경적 상담 운동은 신학적, 기독교심리학적, 실천적 전문성을 갖춘 성경적 상담자를 양육해야 한다. 둘째, 성경적 상담 실천을 뒷받침하는 기독교 심리학적 이론 및 실천신학적 이론 연구가 발전되어야 한다. 셋째, 현장에서 활용 가능한 성경적 상담 방법 및 도구의 개발이 필요하다. 넷째, 지역교회와 전문기관 연대 및 공적 기능을 통한 지역사회와 소통으로 성경적 상담 운동의 확산을 야기해야 한다. This paper reviews the new wave of the biblical counseling movement and proposes tasks for the upcoming Korean biblical counseling movement. Biblical counseling recently has been gradually expanding its influence within the evangelical Christian camps in North America. The movement develops into the progressive biblical counseling, beyond the traditional perspective. This new wave has impacted on the Korean Christianity as well. The movement in Korea, initiated from evangelical schools and institutes, has introduced the concepts, values and principles of biblical counseling, and now seeks to embed them into local churches and the public. At this point, the tasks of Korean biblical counseling movement are as follows. First, a need is nurturing professional biblical counselors with expertise of theology, Christian psychology and counseling practice. Second, a task is to develop theological and Christian psychological theories (quantitative, qualitative research, and research methodology of doing psychology biblically), which support the practice of biblical counseling. Third, it is desirable to develop effective methods, counseling-structures, and tools available in the field. Fourth, creating the solidarity with local churches and social institutes, participants need to contribute to the spread of the movement of taking a role for the public faith in action. These proactive tasks would be the ready for the new wave.

상담자의 성 행동과 기독교상담윤리규정의 한계 및 대안

이 연구는 기독교상담에서 상담자와 내담자 간에 발생할 수 있는 성 행동을 분석하고 이런 문제를 예방하며, 바람직한 대처 방안을 모색하여 바른 지침을 제시하고자 하는 것이다. 이 연구에서는 상담윤리규정 제정의 의미와 배경, 내담자관련 성 행동의 실태와 폐해, 상담관련 성 행동의 발생원인과 취약성, 성 행동에 대한 상담윤리적 입장, 기독교상담적 대처방안 등에 중점을 두었다. 이 연구에서 성 행동은 성 행위(성교)를 포함하여 성 폭력, 성 폭행, 성 학대, 성 추행, 성적 호감 등 광범위한 성적 부정행위를 내포하는 용어로 사용하였다. 상담윤리라는 것은 상담에서 도덕적으로 옳고 그름을 판단하는 일련의 태도, 기준, 지침, 규칙, 규정, 규범 등으로 이해할 수 있다. 기독교상담자로서 자신을 지키는 것은 성령 안에서 기도하며 영성훈련을 통해 하나님과 밀착되고 비성경적인 유혹으로부터 이격되는 절제의 훈련이 중요하다는 것을 강조했다. 상담자의 잘못된 성 행동 예방을 위한 기독교상담적 대처방안으로는 상담사를 양성하는 기관에서 상담자가 확고한 기독교인간관을 수립하도록 하고 투철한 역할정체성을 확립하도록 해야 하며, 관리기관에서는 상담자의 자격유지를 위한 상담윤리교육을 강화해야 한다는 것이다. This research is to clarify the Christian counseling ethics on a counselor`s sexual misconduct. The researcher dealt with the meaning and the background of counseling ethics. The researcher also examined the realities and the evil effect of a counselor`s sexual misconduct, cause and weakness of a counselor`s sexual misconduct, and a Christian counselor`s preventive device against sexual misconduct. The definition of sexual misconduct used in this study consists of sexual intercourse, sexual violence, sexual assault, sexual abuse, sexual harassment, sexual attraction, and various sexual behavior. Counseling ethics deals with a moral and ethical standard, which includes a counselor`s attitude, guideline of conduct in counseling. The cases of sexual misconduct in counseling setting and also in Christian counseling setting have been reported frequently these days. A counselor`s sexual misconduct breaks the trust relationship between counselors and clients. Counselors who committed sexual misconduct are mainly male. Counselors should maintain a psychological and physical safety-distance from clients. Also, counseling institutes, such as associations, academies, societies, and graduate schools, in which they issue license of counseling should provide education system and/or curriculum on Christian counseling ethics in detail. One who wants to be a Christian counselor ought to have biblical perspective on human and Christian self-identify.

위드 코로나시대의 기독교상담

This study as a literature research is to clarify on Christian counseling in so-called ‘with COVID-19’ era. The researcher emphasized that there are four influences of pandemic as psycho-somatic problems: fatigue and sense of fatigue, relative aggression, isolation and alienation and mentalized fear. Christian counseling should solve these problems. There are also two kind things emotional anxiety and impossibility of sustainability in mentalized fear contains Christian counseling in ‘with COVID-19’ era will face radical change in psychological and spiritual conditions. In particular, online counseling, contact-free counseling and remote counseling in counseling methods will increase suddenly. Also, questions on theodicy will be questioned in counseling contents. Christian counseling have to make alternative counseling about fatigue and sense of fatigue, relative aggression, isolation and alienation and mentalized fear. First, the firm hope such as heavenly hope and kingdom of heaven will be the best method as a non-drug treatment to relieve fatigue and sense of fatigue. Also, to have ‘pleasant beliefs’ is the best method for solution both psychologically and spiritually. Second, ‘Immanuel therapy’ is the solution method for relative aggression and isolation, alienation. Third, it is possible to resolve the mentalized and emotional fear using means of grace. In conclusion, Christian counselors should focus on the essence of faith in the era of ‘with COVID-19’. 이 연구는 위드 코로나시대의 기독교상담에 대한 문헌연구이다. 이 연구에서는 팬데믹의 영향으로 인해 발생한 심리정서적 문제 가운데 피로와 피로감, 관계적 공격성, 고립과 소외, 정신화된 두려움 등을 심각한 문제로 보았다. 기독교상담은 이런 문제들을 해소, 해결해야 하는 과제를 안고 있다고 보고, 이에 대한 논의를 하려는 것이었다. 먼저, 연구자는 코로나-19가 남긴 심리영적 문제들을 피로 상승과 관계적 공격성, 고립과 소외, 정신화된 두려움이라고 보았다. 연구자는 정신화된 두려움에 정서적 두려움과 지속불가능성에 대한 두려움으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 위드 코로나시대의 기독교상담은 급격한 변화를 맞게 될 것으로 예측되는데 온라인, 비대면, 원격상담 급증할 것이고, 신정론적 질문에 대처해야 할 상황이 될 것이다. 앞서 진단한 위드 코로나시대의 기독교상담은 첫째로, 피로 회복을 위한 상담이어야 하며, 그것은 소망을 확고히 하는 것인데, 이는 비약물치료로서 가장 훌륭한 치료방법이 될 수 있다고 주장했다. 아울러 ‘유쾌한 신념’을 갖음으로써 심리적, 영적 피로를 해소할 수 있다. 둘째로, 고립과 소외 해소를 위한 상담이어야 한다. 이는 ‘임마누엘 치료’로 가능하리라고 본다. 셋째로, 두려움의 정서적 접촉감염에 대한 예방 상담이 필요하다.

교회상담소 설치에 관한 목회자 인식연구 -예수교대한성결교회 목회자를 대상으로-

본 연구의 목적은 교회상담소 설치에 관한 목회자의 인식에는 어떤 차이가 있으며, 교회상담소 활성화에 영향을 미치는 요인이 무엇인지를 알아보는 데 있다. 이를 위해 예수교대한성결교회 목회자 191명을 대상으로 질문지법을 사용하여 분석하고 검증하였다. 본 연구의 분석은 SPSSWIN 21.0 통계 프로그램을 이용하였으며, 주요 통계기법은 빈도분석, t-test와 일원변량분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인구통계학적 특성에 따른 상담소 설치 필요성에 대한 인식에서는‘교회의 위치’에 따른 요인에서만 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 둘째, ‘교회 상담사역현황’에 따른 상담소 설치 필요성에 대한 인식에서는 모든 요인(교회 상담부서 유무, 교회상담소 설치 유무, 상담실 공간 여건, 평신도 상담사역 자원 유무, 성도의 상담요청 빈도에 관한 문항)이 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 셋째, 교회 상담사역 인식에 따른 상담소 설치 필요성의 인식에서는‘상담사역이 교회부흥에 미치는 영향’과‘상담소 운영 계획이 없는 이유’에서 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 결론적으로 교회상담소 설치의 활성화를 위해서는 이에 대한 목회자의 긍정적 인식의 전환이 가장 필요하며 이밖에도 상담소 설치를 위한 여건의 확보와 평신도 전문상담자 양성이 우선적으로 필요하다고 하겠다. The purpose of this study is to examine the pastors’ cognition about the installation of a church counselling office. This survey research was performed and analyzed on 191 pastors of the Jesus Korea Sungkyul Church for this purpose. The result confirmed by the study is as below. First, in the difference of the necessity of the installation of the counselling office due to the demographic characteristic, the difference of the necessity of the installation of the church counselling office due to a ‘church location’ has meaningful difference, but there is no difference due to other factors. Second, in the difference of a installation of the church counselling office due to ‘the current state of the church counselling ministry’, there is a meaningful difference for all items. Third, in the difference of the necessity of the installation of the counselling office due to the recognition on the church counselling ministry, both ‘the influence of the counselling ministry for the church revival’ and ‘the reason that is no plan for the counselling office’ have meaningful difference. As a conclusion, to activate the pastoral counselling, we could say it is needed the positive cognition of pastors about the installation of the church counselling office, and to train professional lay counsellors first of all.

자살에 대한 목회 상담학적 대책

본 연구의 목적은 자살에 대한 목회상담학적 대책을 수립하는데 있다. 이 연구 목적을 수행하기 위해서 다음 연구 문제를 다루었다. 첫째, 성경에 나타난 자살 둘째, 기독교 역사에 나타난 자살에 대한 이해 셋째, 자살에 대한 목회 신학적 이해 넷째, 자살과 우울증과의 관계 다섯째, 자살에 대한 목회상담학적 대책이다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성경에는 유다의 자살을 비롯한 일곱 명의 자살 사건이 기록되어 있다. 둘째, 기독교역사속에서 자살은 철저히 배격하였다. 셋째, 목회 신학적으로는 미래에 대한 소망을 상실했기 때문에 발생 한다. 넷째, 자살은 우울증과 깊은 관련이 있다. 다섯째, 자살에 대한 목회 상담적 대책은 다음과 같다. 1. 자살에 대한 올바른 성경적 해석과 예방상담이 필요하다. 2. 기독교대학에서 실천신학과 목회상담 교육이 강화되어야 한다. 3. 자살한 유가족을 위한 목회배려와 상담이 필요하다. 4. 교회가 말씀과 기도, 찬양을 통한 회복 사역에 관심을 가져야 한다. 5. 심방을 목회상담의 기회로 선용해야 한다. 6. 기독교인에게 내세 신앙을 강조하여 미래에 대한 소망을 갖게 해야 한다. 7. 절망의 상황을 극복하게 하고 희망의 이야기를 만들어가야 한다. 8. 성경을 목회 상담의 도구로 사용하여 마음을 새롭게 하고 변화된 삶을 살도록 도와야 한다. The purpose of this study is to establish alternatives to suicide for use in pastoral counseling. To that end, this study seeks to answer the following research questions. First, what kind of content on suicide does the Bible contain? Second, how has suicide been understood throughout the history of Christianity? Third, what is the pastoral theological understanding of suicide? Fourth, what is the relationship between suicide and depression? Five, what alternatives to suicide does pastoral counseling offer? First, the Bible records seven suicides, including that by Judas. Second, in the history of Christianity, suicide has been strongly rejected. Third, suicide occurs when a person loses hope for the future. Fourth, suicide occurs as a result of depression, indicating a deep relationship between the two. Finally, pastoral counseling offers the following eight suggestions for preventing suicide. 1. It is necessary to have a biblically based understanding of and preventive counseling for suicide. 2. Christian universities should strengthen practical theology and pastoral counseling education. 3. Families of those who commit suicide need pastoral care and counseling. 4. Churches should take more interest in the ministry work of recovery 5. Visits should be used as opportunities for pastoral counseling. 6. Christian belief in the afterlife should be emphasized to give hope for the future. 7. Encourage those in desperate situations try to write hopeful stories. 8. In pastoral counseling, the Bible should be used as a tool for the renewing of the mind so that people can live changed lives.

여대생을 위한 ‘기독교 코칭 상담 모델’ 적용 사례 연구

본 연구의 목적은 여대생들을 대상으로 상담을 하는 기독교/목회 상담 전문가들에게 기독교 코칭 상담의 중요성을 일깨우고자 함이다. 사례 연구 참여자들이 여성이기에 겪게 된 차별과 교회 봉사, 인간관계에서의 어려움은 사회와 교회 역사 안에서 오랫동안 반복되었다. 본 연구에서는 여대생이 겪는 어려움을 기독교 코칭 상담을 통해 극복할 수 있도록 돕는 과정을 질적 사례 연구를 통하여 진행하였다. 연구 참여자들은 20대 여자 대학생 4명이다. 이들은 각각 인문대, 공대, 음대, 미대 학생들이다. 연구 참여자를 모집하는 선정 방법은 주제에 따른 이론적 표집 방법이다. 질적 사례 연구는 참여자들과의 기독교 코칭 상담을 진행하여 구성하였다. 본 연구에서 여대생을 위해 적용한 기독교 코칭 상담의 실제 단계는 공감형성하기, 질문하기, 경청하기, 현실을 직관하기, 반성하고 행동하기의 5단계로 진행되었다. 본 연구는 기독교/목회 상담자와 여대생과의 기독교 코칭 상담 과정은 이들이 겪었던 상실 경험이나 분노, 스트레스의 감정들을 회피하지 않고 직면하며 현실을 지각한 후 유익한 방향의 행동을 실행함으로써 성장을 하고 동시에 미래 계획까지 세워볼 수 있었다는 점에서 의의가 있다. The purpose of this paper is to remind Christian/pastoral counseling experts who provide counseling for female college students of the importance of christian coaching counseling. Discrimination, church service, and difficulties in human relations experienced by case study participants as women have been repeated for a long time in society and church history. In this study, the process of helping female college students overcome their difficulties through coaching counseling was conducted through qualitative case studies. The study participants were four female university students. These are students from the College of Humanities, College of Engineering, College of Music, and College of Arts, respectively. The selection method for recruiting research participants is a theoretical sampling method according to the subject. The qualitative case study was composed by conducting christian coaching counseling with participants. The actual stages of Christian coaching counseling applied for female college students in this study consisted of five stages: empathy formation, questioning, listening, intuition of reality, reflection and action. In this study, the Christian coaching counseling process between Christian/church counselors and female college students is significant in that they were able to grow and plan for the future by facing the feelings of loss, anger, and stress they experienced as female college students, recognizing reality, and implementing actions in a beneficial direction.

목회상담자로서의 요한 칼빈 재조명

본 연구의 목적은 목회상담자로서의 Calvin을 재조명하는 데 있다. 연구 과제로는 첫째, Calvin의 기독교강요에 성경적 상담의 원리가 나타나는가? 둘째, Calvin의 설교가 성경적 상담설교와의 상관성이 있는가? 셋째, Calvin의 목회적 돌봄 사역에서 상담자로서의 모습이 나타나는가? 이다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, Calvin의 기독교강요에 성경적 상담의 원리가 명확하게 나타난다. 하나님의 형상대로 지음 받은 인간은 기독교강요 제1부 15장에 근거하며, 죄로 인하여 타락한 존재인 인간은 2부 1장에 근거 한다. 그리고 마음의 문제를 지닌 인간은 제1부 3장과 2부 4장에 근거하고, 성경이 상담의 주요 도구가 되는 것은 제1부 6장과 1부 9장에 근거한다. 또한 예수가 상담의 모델임은 제2부 12장과 2부 13장에 근거하며, 인간은 고통당하는 존재인 인간에 대해서는 제2부 2장과 2부 3장에 근거하고, 성령의 역사로 변화되는 인간은 제1부 7장과 제2부 2장, 제3부 1장에 근거한다. 둘째, Calvin의 설교에 나타난 성경해석 방법론은 성경적 상담설교와 깊은 상관성을 가짐을 확인했다. 셋째, 목회 돌봄 사역에 나타난 목회상담자 Calvin의 모습은 심방과 상담을 따뜻하게 한 목회상담자였음을 확인할 수 있었다. The purpose of this study is to review Calvin as a pastoral counsellor. First, How the principles of biblical counselling are shown in Calvin’s Institutes of the Christian Religion? Second, How is Calvin’s preaching correlated with biblical counselling preaching? Third, How is Calvin shown as a pastoral counsellor in his pastoral care ministry? The results of the study were as follows. First, 1) Humans were created in God’s own image is based on Chapter 15 Book 1. 2) Humans were corrupted by sin is based on Chapter 1. ‘침묵’에 대한 기독교상담적 접근

상담에서 침묵은 다양한 의미로 해석될 수 있다. 상담자가 내담자의 느낌과 생각에 대한 동의 혹은 내담자의 자기탐색을 위한 상담자의 의도적인 침묵 행동 등의 침묵은‘말의 부재’그 이상의 의미를 담고 있다. 그동안 일반상담에서는 침묵의 중요성과 의미에 대한 연구들이 활발하게 진행되어 왔다. 그러나 기독교상담 관점에서 침묵에 대한 연구는 미비한 실정이므로 본 연구에서는 상담자의 침묵과 내담자의 침묵 그리고 복음서에 나타난 예수의 상담을 통해 예수의 침묵 반응은 어떤 의미인가를 주로 살펴보고자 한다. 예수의 침묵은 이야기의 반전을 가져오는 통로를 제공한다. 예수의 침묵은 관계의 소외, 단절이 아니라 관계의 연결과 개선, 회복의 이야기를 이끌어내고 있다. 이야기는 경험의 실체에 접근하는 방법으로 체험되고 말해진 이야기를 분석함으로써 내담자의 침묵을 이해하는 도구가 될 수 있다. 내담자가 지닌 경험 세계의 의미를 파악하기 위해서 개인 내부적으로 구성되는 지식과 의미의 파악이 중요하다. 즉 내담자 경험의 실체에 접근하기 위해서는 한 개인의 독특한 경험에 대한 기독교적 돌봄을 위해 이야기를 매개로 접근하는 것이 유용하다. 기독교상담의 치료적 실제는 우리의 삶이 인간과 하나님의 공동작품, 공동 저작이라는 본질적이면서도 새로운 해석과정이 되어야 한다. In counseling, silence may be interpreted as various meaning. The counselor’s silences such as those in consent to client’s feeling and thoughts or those intended to induce client’s self exploring etc, contain more than just ‘absence of speaking’. So far in psychological counseling, researches have been actively pursued on the importance and meaning of silence. However, study on ‘silence’ from Christian counseling perspective is scarce. In this regard, this study mainly reviews what meaning Jesus gave us in his silent response, through counselors’ silence and client’s silence as well as Jesus’ counseling described in the Gospels. Jesus’ silence provides the path to the reversal in client’s story. Jesus’ silence derives the narrative of connection, improvement and recovery of relationship, rather than alienation, severance. Narrative can be used as the tool to understand client’s silence, through experience as the method to access the true substance of experience and by analysis on the narrative that has been experienced and spoken. In other words, in order to approach the substance of client’s experience, it is useful to use a narrative as a medium, looking after the unique experience of a person in Christian ways. The therapeutic practice in Christian counseling shall be the process in the new and essential interpretation that human life is the coauthoring of the human and the God.
