Roles of PTEN (Phosphatase and Tensin Homolog) in Gastric Cancer Development and Progression
Xu, Wen-Ting,Yang, Zhen,Lu, Nong-Hua Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.1
Gastric cancer is highly invasive, aggressively malignant, and amongst the most prevalent of all forms of cancer. Despite improved management strategies, early stage diagnosis of gastric cancer and accurate prognostic assessment is still lacking. Several recent reports have indicated that the pathogenesis of gastric cancer involves complex molecular mechanisms and multiple genetic and epigenetic alterations in oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes. Functional inactivation of the tumor suppressor protein PTEN (Phosphatase and Tensin Homolog) has been detected in multiple cases of gastric cancer, and already shown to be closely linked to the development, progression and prognosis of the disease. Inactivation of PTEN can be attributed to gene mutation, loss of heterozygosity, promoter hypermethylation, microRNA- mediated regulation of gene expression, and post-translational phosphorylation. PTEN is also involved in mechanisms regulating tumor resistance to chemotherapy. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of PTEN and its roles in gastric cancer, and emphasizes its potential benefits in early diagnosis and gene therapy-based treatment strategies.
Resource Allocation based on Quantized Feedback for TDMA Wireless Mesh Networks
Xu, Lei,Tang, Zhen-Min,Li, Ya-Ping,Yang, Yu-Wang,Lan, Shao-Hua,Lv, Tong-Ming The Institute of Electronics and Information Engin 2013 IEIE Transactions on Smart Processing & Computing Vol.2 No.3
Resource allocation based on quantized feedback plays a critical role in wireless mesh networks with a time division multiple access (TDMA) physical layer. In this study, a resource allocation problem was formulated based on quantized feedback for TDMA wireless mesh networks that minimize the total transmission power. Three steps were taken to solve the optimization problem. In the first step, the codebook of the power, rate and equivalent channel quantization threshold was designed. In the second step, the timeslot allocation criterion was deduced using the primal-dual method. In the third step, a resource allocation scheme was developed based on quantized feedback using the stochastic optimization tool. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme not only reduces the total transmission power, but also has the advantage of quantized feedback.
Effect of polymer and additive on the structure and property of porous stainless steel hollow fiber
Xiao-Hua Ma,Zhen-Liang Xu,Yu Bai,Yue Cao 한국화학공학회 2014 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.31 No.8
Porous stainless steel hollow fiber has been widely used due to its high mechanical strength, excellentthermal conductivity and good sealing properties compared with other porous supports. We successfully prepared porousstainless steel hollow fibers using polyacrylonitrile (PAN) as polymer via dry-wet spinning followed by sintering throughtemperature programming method. The PAN concentration had an obvious impact on the structure and property ofporous stainless steel hollow fiber even if it would be burned off during sintering. The results showed that the morphologycould be tuned by adjusting the concentration of PAN. With increasing PAN concentration in casting solutionfor spinning, the viscosity was increased dramatically, resulting in much compact structures with high pure water flux(higher than 3×105 L·m−2·h−1·Pa−1). A more dense structure could be obtained by adding additive polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP) as viscosity enhancer.

Heishui county, located in northwest Sichuan province, southwestern China, is an endemic area of zoonotic visceral leishmaniasis (VL) and is the most intractable area. VL is never destroyed in it. Asymptomatic dogs (Leishmania parasites have been diagnosed but clinically healthy) are considered to be a potential reservoir host in zoonotic VL area, and most can lead to infection of individuals, that is a new challenge for controlling VL in humans. The present study aimed to assess the Leishmania infection rate of asymptomatic dogs in Heishui county. Total 105 asymptomatic domestic dogs were gathered from 4 districts in Heishui county to investigate the infection rate with serological and molecular methods based on ELISA and kinetoplast minicircle DNA(kDNA) PCR, respectively. Out of 105 dogs, 44 (41.9%) were positive by more than 1 method; 21 (20.0%) were positive by ELISA, and 30 (28.6%) were positive by kDNA-PCR. Our study showed that Leishmania infection of domestic dogs which is clinically healthy is prevalent in the studied district, and the asymptomatic dogs infected by Leishmania may be the primary reason for the prevalence of visceral leishmaniasis in the area.

In this paper, the topic of sampled-data based dissipativity control for Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy Markovian jump systems with incomplete transition rates and actuator saturation is addressed. First of all, by constructing an appropriate two-sided closed-loop function that captures the realistic information of sampling pattern, together with the free-matrix-based inequality approach, a sufficient condition is developed to ensure the considered systems to be strictly(Q,S,R)-γ-dissipative. Then, the corresponding mode-dependent sampled-data controllers are designed based on the given dissipativity condition. As a corollary, the controller design is presented for the system without disturbance. Furthermore, an optimization problem is investigated in order to maximize the domain of the attraction. Finally, simulation examples are offered to verify the feasibility of the results.
