The saccharification and sensory characteristics of Sikhe, Korean traditional beverage of saccharified rice, made from thirteen glutinous rice varieties and one of non-glutinous rice named Ilpum were examined. During saccharification, Shinsunchalbyeo, Whasunchalbyeo, Yukdononhrimna 1 and Hangangchalbyeo showed the highest sweetness determined by refractometer. Yukdononhrimna I was good for the morphology and texture of cooked rice kernel during saccharification. There was interrelationship between contents of released reducing sugar and sweetness determined by refractometer during preparation of Sikhe. The overall acceptability determined by sensory evaluation of Sikhe made from Yukdonongrimna 1, was slightly higher than that of Sikhe made from Ilpum, the non-glutionous rice variety. Yukdononhrimna 1 was considered to the most suitable varieties of Sikhe.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the grade of fatty degeneration and atrophy of rotator cuffs on immediate postoperative MRI to those on preoperative MRI in patients with rotator cuff tears. Materials and Methods: Seventy patients were included in this study, who received arthroscopic rotator-cuff repair and underwent both preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and immediate postoperative MRI in our institution. Fatty degeneration of rotator cuffs and the atrophy of supraspinatus muscles were evaluated with T1 oblique sagittal images in the Y-shaped view. Fatty degeneration was evaluated using a Goutallier classification system, and the atrophy of supraspinatus muscles was evaluated using a modified tangent sign and a visual occupation ratio. Results: From 70 patients, a total of 100 tendons were repaired: 18, 69, and 13 tendons were treated for subscapularis, supraspinatus, and infraspinatus, respectively. The Goutallier grades (P = 0.012), modified tangent signs (P = 0.000), and visual occupation ratios (P = 0.000) of supraspinatus muscles were significantly decreased in immediate postoperative MRIs when compared to preoperative MRIs. In immediate postoperative MRIs, the Goutallier grades of supraspinatus muscles were decreased by one grade in 18.8% (n = 13) of the patients, and the atrophy of supraspinatus muscles was improved by one grade in 26.1% (n = 18) for modified tangent signs and 21.7% (n = 15) for visual occupation ratios. However, fatty infiltration by the Goutallier grades of subscapularis (P = 1.000) and infraspinatus (P = 0.157) muscles were not significantly changed after arthroscopic surgery. Conclusion: Immediate postoperative MRIs showed a significant improvement of fatty degeneration and muscle atrophy in supraspinatus muscles when compared to preoperative MRIs.
청소년들의 식생활 라이프스타일에 따른 음료 소비 행동 연구

본 연구는 서울 및 경기 지역의 음료에 대한 구매 및 섭취경험이 있는 209명 청소년들을 대상으로 식생활 라이프스타일에 따른 음료 소비 행동에 대해 연구하였다. 청소년의 음료 선택속성을 ‘구성성분’, ‘프로모션’, ‘외관’, ‘감각적 특성’의 네 가지 요인으로 분류하였다. ‘구성성분’ 요인은 (인공)첨가물, 원재료, 영양성분의 3문항으로 구성되었으며, ‘프로모션’ 요인은 할인행사/이벤트, 묶음상품/판매수량, 가격의 3문항, ‘외관’ 요인은 디자인, 용기, 포장방법의 3문항, ‘감각적 특성’ 요인은 맛, 향, 온도의 3문항으로 구성되었다. 청소년의 식생활 라이프스타일은 ‘유행추구형’, ‘건강추구형’, ‘경제추구형’, ‘안전추구형’의 네 가지 요인으로 분류하였고, 이에 따라 유행추구형 집단, 식생활 고관여 집단, 경제추구형 집단, 식생활 저관여 집단으로 분류하였다. 유행추구형 집단은 새로운 음식을 찾아 섭취하는 것을 좋아하고 유행을 빨리 받아들이는 편이며 트렌디한 음식이 무엇인지 잘 아는 집단이다. 식생활 고관여 집단은 모든 식생활 라이프스타일 요인에 대해 높은 점수를 보여 식생활에 대한 관심이 높고 유행, 건강, 경제, 안전 등을 모두 중요하게 생각하는 집단이다. 경제추구형 집단은 식품을 구매할 때 가격 정보를 늘 확인하며 식품을 구매하기 전에 리스트를 작성하는 경향을 보이는 집단이다. 식생활 저관여 집단은 모든 식생활 라이프스타일 요인에 대해 낮은 점수를 보여 전반적인 식생활에 대한 관심이 낮은 집단이다. 이에 따라 식생활 라이프스타일 군집이 음료 선택속성에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과, 유행추구형 집단은 다른 집단에 비해 ‘감각적 특성’을 중시하는 경향을 보였으며, 식생활 고관여 집단은 전반적으로 모든 요인을 중시하는 경향을 보였다. 경제추구형 집단은 다른 집단에 비해 ‘프로모션’ 요인을 중시하는 경향을 보였으며 식생활 저관여 집단은 전반적으로 모든 요인을 중시하지 않았다. 또한, 청소년들이 식생활 라이프스타일 군집에 상관없이 ‘감각적 특성’ 요인과 ‘프로모션’ 요인을 중시하는 경향을 보였으며, 이는 청소년들이 감각적 자극에 민감하게 반응한다는 것을 보여주고 음료를 맛있어서 구매하는 경우가 가장 많음을 보여준다. 또한, 주 양육자에게 받은 용돈을 통해 음료를 구매하는 청소년들의 특성에 따라 이들이 가격 등에 민감한 것을 알 수 있다. 식생활 라이프스타일 군집에 따라 유행추구 집단과 식생활 저관여 집단은 탄산음료를, 식생활 고관여 집단과 경제추구형 집단은 우유 및 유제품을 가장 선호한다고 나타났다. 유행추구형 집단은 청소년의 또래 문화에 많이 받는 집단이며 스마트폰 SNS 등의 소셜미디어를 통한 활동에 민감한 경향을 보이므로 학교 및 학원 등의 단체 집단에서 지속적인 영양교육을 통해 바람직한 식생활을 영위할 수 있도록 해야 한다. 또한, 식생활 저관여 집단의 경우 음료를 선택할 때 중요하다고 생각하는 요인이 명확하게 자리 잡지 않은 집단이므로 올바른 식품 선택에 대한 관심을 높이기 위한 교육이 집중적으로 필요할 것으로 예상된다. Adolescent food choices and consumption have a significant impact on post-adult life, and adolescents have a higher preference for carbonated drinks than other age groups. The purpose of this study was to investigate the behavior of beverage consumption according to the food-related lifestyle among adolescents. Generally, adolescents tended to focus on ‘sense’ and ‘promotion’ regardless of the cluster, indicating that adolescents were sensitive to sensory stimuli, especially taste. Further, adolescents were sensitive to price, as they received allowances from their caregivers to buy drinks. In addition, the popularity-seeking group (PG) tended to focus ‘sense’ as compared to other groups, and the high involvement for food life group (HG) tended to focus all factors generally. The economy-seeking group (EG) tended to focus the ‘promotion’ compared to the other groups, and the low involvement for food life group (LG) did not focus on all factors generally. The PG and LG preferred carbonated beverages the most, whereas the HG and EG preferred milk and dairy products the most. The PG tended to be sensitive to the activities of social media, and they placed great importance on their peer group. Therefore, it is necessary for schools to maintain a healthy diet through continuous nutrition education. In addition, it is expected that intensive education will be needed to raise interest in correct food selection since the factors that are considered to be important in the selection of beverages are not clearly located in the LG.
Study on the Vascular Plants Found in Nearby Island Regions of Ganghwado

The total number of vascular plants found in the Ganghwado and nearby island regions (Seokmodo, Gyodongdo, Boreumdo, Jumundo) was 107 families, 388 genera, 616 species, 5 subspecies, 81 varieties, 11 forms. and 713 taxa. Among these, the area with the highest number of taxa was Ganghwado at 92 families 279 genus 454 taxa, followed by Seokmodo at 90 families 271 genera 442 taxa, Gyodongdo at 82 families 228 genera 338 taxa, Boreumdo at 66 families 196 genus 286 taxa and Jumundo at 145 taxa. Among the studied plants, there were 6 taxa of endemic plants to Korea, 11 taxa of rare species, and 14 taxa of Degree III or higher in terms of ecological significance. A total of 94 taxa of naturalized plants were confirmed, marking 13.2% of all the taxa studied. As a special note, ecologically detrimental species, such as Ambrosia trifida and Sicyos angulatus were observed in Boreumdo and Jumundo respectively, which is a reason for concern of rapid spread.
