The Effectiveness of Position Limits: Evidence from the Foreign Exchange Futures Markets
Ya-Kai Chang,Yu-Lun Chen,Robin K. Chou 한국재무학회 2012 한국재무학회 학술대회 Vol.2012 No.09
To test the effectiveness of position limits, this study examines the impact of the relative size of hedger and speculator open interests on the price discovery process in both JPY-USD and EUR-USD futures markets. Hedging trading has a negative impact, regardless of its size, on price discovery in futures markets. Hedgers are less likely to be information motivated, so their trading uniformly delays the price discovery process. However, there is a positive and nonlinear impact of speculators’ trade size on price discovery, the contribution of which depends on the relative size of the speculative open interest. Contrary to conventional wisdom among regulators, speculative trading does not harm the market in terms of price discovery; more important, as long as speculative trading is lower than an endogenously determined threshold, it even improves futures market efficiency.
Electrochemical Behavior of Sm(III) on the Aluminium-Gallium Alloy Electrode in LiCl-KCl Eutectic
Ye, Chang-Mei,Jiang, Shi-Lin,Liu, Ya-Lan,Xu, Kai,Yang, Shao-Hua,Chang, Ke-Ke,Ren, Hao,Chai, Zhi-Fang,Shi, Wei-Qun Korean Radioactive Waste Society 2021 방사성폐기물학회지 Vol.19 No.2
In this study, the electrochemical behavior of Sm on the binary liquid Al-Ga cathode in the LiCl-KCl molten salt system is investigated. First, the co-reduction process of Sm(III)-Al(III), Sm(III)-Ga(III), and Sm(III)-Ga(III)-Al(III) on the W electrode (inert) were studied using cyclic voltammetry (CV), square-wave voltammetry (SWV) and open circuit potential (OCP) methods, respectively. It was identified that Sm(III) can be co-reduced with Al(III) or Ga(III) to form AlzSmy or GaxSmy intermetallic compounds. Subsequently, the under-potential deposition of Sm(III) at the Al, Ga, and Al-Ga active cathode was performed to confirm the formation of Sm-based intermetallic compounds. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) analyses indicated that Ga3Sm and Ga6Sm intermetallic compounds were formed on the Mo grid electrode (inert) during the potentiostatic electrolysis in LiCl-KCl-SmCl3-AlCl3-GaCl3 melt, while only Ga6Sm intermetallic compound was generated on the Al-Ga alloy electrode during the galvanostatic electrolysis in LiCl-KCl-SmCl3 melt. The electrolysis results revealed that the interaction between Sm and Ga was predominant in the Al-Ga alloy electrode, with Al only acting as an additive to lower the melting point.
Effect of Tea on Resistance to Type 2 Diabetes
Peng Lu,Kai Fan,Ya-Ting Lu,Yuan-Xu Shi,Dong-Mei Fan,Xiao-Chang Wang 한국차학회 2015 한국차학회지 Vol.- No.S
Insulinotropic hormone glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) degrades rapidly under the catalytic of dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV). Consequently, DPP-IV which is widely expressed in small intestine takes a key role in the prevention and treatment of Type 2 Diabetes. To identify the capability of anti-type 2 diabetes by tea, the inhibition of different types of Chinese teas on DPP-IV was tested. The inhibitory ratio of Buddha Longjing is 31.74%, Tangji Gaoshan Tea is 62.08% (p < 0.01), Yunnan black tea is 66.29% (p < 0.01), Lapsang souchon is 76.40% (p <0.01), Dahongpao is 62.08% (p < 0.01), Tieguanyin is 66.85% (p < 0.01), Moganhuangya is 65.45% (p < 0.01),Huoshanhuangya is 50.56% (p < 0.05).
Risk Factors for Cervical Cancer in Rural Areas of Wuhan China: a Matched Case-control Study
Zhang, Bin,Zhou, Ai-Fen,Zhu, Chang-Cai,Zhang, Ling,Xiang, Bing,Chen, Zhong,Hu, Rong-Hua,Zhang, Ya-Qi,Qiu, Lin,Zhang, Yi-Ming,Xiong, Chao-Du,Du, Yu-Kai,Shi, Yu-Qin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.12
Cervical cancer is a serious public health problem in developing countries. We investigated possible risk factors for cervical cancer in rural areas of Wuhan China using a matched case-control study with 33 women diagnosed with cervical cancer and 132 healthy women selected from the same area as matched controls. A questionnaire, which included questions about general demography conditions, environmental and genetic factors, the first sexual intercourse, first marriage age, age at first pregnancy, pregnancy first child's age, female personal health history, social psychological factors, dietary habits, smoking and alcohol status and other living habits was presented to all participants. At the same time, HPV infection of every participant was examined in laboratory testing. Results showed HPV infection (P<0.000, OR=23.4) and pregnancy first child's age (P<0.000, OR=13.1) to be risk factors for cervical cancer. Menopause (P=0.003, OR=0.073) was a protective factor against cervical cancer. However, there was no indication of associations of environmental (drinking water, insecticide, disinfectant) genetic (cancer family history), or life-style factors (smoking status, alcohol status, physical training, sleep quality), including dietary habits (intake of fruit and vegetable, meat, fried food, bean products and pickled food) or social psychological factors with cervical cancer. The results suggest that the risk of cervical cancer in Chinese rural women may be associated with HPV infection, menopause and the pregnancy first child's age.
