Microbial treatment of the powdered waste tire was studied to recycle the waste tires. Chemoautotrophic, acidophilic, iron-oxidizing bacterium was employed to unvulcanize the powdered tires. Biotreated rubber powder was compared to a untreated and a chemically treated powder. The results showed sulfur content of rubber powder (1.33%) were decreased to 1.22 by chemical treatment and 1.12% by microbial treatment for 20 days, 0.88%, for 30 days. One of the problems of the powdered utilization of the waste tires is that rubber powder leads to decrease mechanical properties when it is compounded with other virgin polymers. When the biotreated powder was compounded with natural rubber, the mechanical properties were less decreased when untreated or chemically treated powder. Therefore, the microbial treatment can be one of useful methods to recycle the waste tire.

This paper aims to look into internal/external representation of conflicts in Yeats’s political poems. To trace the nature of such conflicts, I look briefly at the rise of cultural nationalism to trace the nature of such conflicts. This cultural revival foregrounds the issue of conflicts between Yeats and audience, which creates tension that culminates in the Easter Rising, and result in the birth of terrible beauty. In this context, I would argue that what constitutes the “political” in Yeats's poems are Yeats's conflicts with himself. In this backdrop, I look at the conflicts in the poems “Easter, 1916”, “Sixteen Dead Men”, “The Rose Tree” and “On a Political Prisoner” through the central oxymoron “terrible beauty. In “Easter, 1916”, I would talk about how the sacrifice of the nationalists gives birth to terrible beauty, which is a fusion of representations of Ireland as beautiful young maiden and old ugly woman. In “On a Political Prisoner” as I would discuss how terrible beauty is embodied in a woman by juxtaposing an image of beautiful and young Constance Markiewicz in the distant past and in more recent past and present, when she turned ugly by her involvement in political activities and imprisoned as a result. I conclude by pointing to the ambivalence of conflicts as something which poses a threat and yet inspires Yeats's poetry.

Abstract

This study proposes an online walking-pattern generation algorithm with footstep adjustment. The algorithm enables a biped walking robot to effectively recover balance following external disturbance. The external disturbance is measured as a capture-point error, and a desired zero-moment point (ZMP) is determined to compensate for the capture-point error through a capture-point control method. To follow the desired ZMP, the optimal ZMP and the position of the foot to be changed are determined through model predictive control (MPC). In the MPC, quadratic programming is implemented considering a cost function that minimizes the ZMP error, the constraints that the ZMP maintains within the support polygon, and the constraints on the varying foot positions. The proposed algorithm helps a humanoid robot (DRC-HUBO+) to regain balance following disturbance, i.e., from strong pushing or stepping on unexpected obstacles.

Highlights

A balance-recovery algorithm for a biped walking robot is designed and implemented.

Capture-point control used to reflect the state of the robot in walking pattern.

Model predictive control used to generate dynamic and kinematic feasible walking.

Push recovery and walking on uneven terrain are achieved using DRC-HUBO+ robot.

Rapid Decrease of Phospholipase C Activity in NIH3T3 Cells by UV - irradiation
Joe, Cheol O,Giltsu Tchoi,Lee, Tae Hoo 한국유전학회 1989 Genes & Genomics Vol.11 No.4
Intracellular level of inositol phosphates was examined in UV-damaged NIH3T3 cells. The levels of three classes of inositol phosphates, inositol monophosphate, inositol bisphosphate and inositol triphosphate were dramatically dropped in the fibroblasts which were irradiated with 10J/M² of UV radiation and postincubated for 3 mins. Sudden drop of phospholipase C activity was observed in UV-damaged fibroblasts. Decreased inositol phosphate metabolism and phospholipase C activity by UV-irradiation were dose-dependent, When UV-damaged NIH3T3 cells were posttreated with phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA), protein kinase C activator, unscheduled DNA synthesis was markedly inhibited, and maximal level of inhibition was observed with 50 nM PMA. However no inhibition of replicative DNA synthesis was observed. These results suggest that inactivation of protein kinase C is the early event of DNA repair synthesis induced by UV DNA damage.
Inferential Privacy and Artificial Intelligence
Joe O’Callaghan 서울대학교 공익산업법센터 2018 경제규제와 법 Vol.11 No.2
The growing use and sophistication of artificial intelligence (AI) permits the generation of increasing volumes of inferential data about individuals, including data that may be privacy invasive. The generation of such data poses challenges to our existing regulatory models, including under EU’s General Data Protection Regulation. This article focuses on privacy and data protection law and associated guidance applicable in England and Wales. It considers how inferential data is generated and describes some relevant regulatory challenges this poses including in relation to the principles of fair and lawful processing, transparency, privacy by design and the purpose limitation. It considers relevant causes of action under the law of England and Wales where intrusive insights are generated and proposes that the field of “inferential privacy” is one that is ripe for further development from an academic and legal perspective.

The contents of transuranic elements ($^{237}Np$, $^{238}Pu$, $^{239}Pu$, $^{240}Pu$, $^{241}Am$, $^{244}Cm$ and $^{242}Cm$) in high-burnup spent fuel samples ($35.6{\sim}53.9\;GWd/MtU$) were determined by alpha spectrometry. Anion exchange chromatography and diethylhexyl phosphoric acid extraction chromatography were applied for the separation of these elements from the uranium matrix. The measured values of the nuclides were compared with ORIGEN-2 calculations. For plutonium, the measurements were higher than the calculations by about $2.6{\sim}32.7%$ on average according to each isotope, and those for americium and curium were also higher by about $35.9{\sim}63.1%$. However, for $^{237}Np$, the measurements were lower by about 52% on average for the samples.
