<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The chromenone derivatives (<B>1</B>–<B>4</B>) from the root part of <I>Flemingia philippinensis</I> showed a significant inhibition against bacterial neuraminidase (NA) which plays a pivotal role in a cellular interaction including pathogenesis of bacterial infection and subsequent inflammation. The compounds <B>1</B> and <B>2</B> were the new compounds, philippin D (<B>1</B>) and philippin E (<B>2</B>). In particular, compounds (<B>1</B>–<B>3</B>) exhibited sub micromolar levels of IC50 values with 0.75, 0.54, and 0.07 μM. This is the first report that chromenone skeleton emerged as a lead structure of bacterial NA inhibition. In kinetic study, 8,8-diprenyl compounds displayed competitive inhibitory mode, whereas 4a,8-diprenyl ones showed noncompetitive behavior. It was manifested that all competitive inhibitors (<B>1</B> and <B>2</B>) were simple reversible slow-binding against bacterial NA. The binding affinities (<I>K</I> SV) of inhibitors to enzyme were agreement with their respective inhibitory potencies. Molecular docking data confirmed that the position of 3-methyl-2-butenyl substituent affects inhibitory mechanism against <I>Cp</I>NanI. The tri-arginyl cluster of R266, R555, and R615 and D291 in NanI tightly interact with the competitive inhibitors.</P>

The purpose of this study is to examine the changes in bone mineral density in long-stay patients of a geriatric hospital in relation to physical therapy, thereby providing basic data for preventing the onset or deterioration of osteoporosis in inpatients of geriatric hospitals or relevant facilities. The subjects of this study were 133 elderly patients who had been in H geriatric hospital in Yongin-si for more than four years. Their bone mineral density T-scores at admission and those after four years were measured to compare and analyze the changes in bone mineral density in relation to physical therapy. According to the results, the decrease in T-score for the group without physical therapy was greater by .40 than that for the group with physical therapy, indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups(p<.01). Accordingly, physical therapy proved to be effective in preventing bone mineral density loss and maintaining the current density.
A Wideband Circularly Polarized Pinwheel-Shaped Planar Monopole Antenna for Wireless Applications
Wang-Sang Lee,Kyoung-Sub Oh,Jong-Won Yu 한국전자파학회JEES 2012 Journal of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science Vol.12 No.2
A wideband circularly polarized pinwheel-shaped planar monopole antenna fed by a wideband feeding network is presented in this paper. The proposed antenna is formed by four wideband planar monopole antenna elements with aquadruple feeding network in order to improve the performance of circular polarization. Additionally, the antenna, which is introduced here, has a high gain in the z axis direction because of its folded antenna structure. The attractive characteristics of the proposed antenna are the wide impedance bandwidth of 87.3 % (1 ㎓ to 2.55 ㎓), the 3 ㏈ axial ratio (AR) bandwidth of 92.3 % (1.05 ㎓ to 2.85 ㎓), and the maximum gain within the 3 ㏈ AR bandwidth is about 8.24 ㏈ic.

The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation among bone mineral density(BMD), body composition and body circumference on 20's college women in Hwaseong. A total of 86 subjects were measured with BMD and body composition and body circumference. To evaluate the correlation between BMD and body composition, bone density and body weight, body mass index(BMI), lean body mass, muscle mass, fat mass and body fat mass were compared. The results of this study, weight was considered the strong correlation with BMD than the height and BMI seems to be greater significance rather than the lumbar spine and femur BMD. In addition, the relationship between body composition and BMD, lean body mass, muscle mass, body fat mass were the most relevant factors and BMD. The relationship between BMD and body circumference that have been difficult because of not enough previous studies but somewhat the study showed that association.

A novel β-proteobacterium, designated BXN5-27T, was isolated from soil of a ginseng field of Baekdu Mountain in China, and was characterized using a polyphasic approach. The strain was Gram-staining-negative, aerobic, motile, non-spore-forming, and rod shaped. Strain BXN5-27T exhibited β-glucosidase activity that was responsible for its ability to transform ginsenoside Rb1 (one of the dominant active components of ginseng) to compound Rd. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that this strain belonged to the family Comamonadaceae; it was most closely related to Ramlibacter henchirensis TMB834T and Ramlibacter tataouinensis TTB310T (96.4% and 96.3% similarity, respectively). The G+C content of the genomic DNA was 68.1%. The major menaquinone was Q-8. The major fatty acids were C16:0, summed feature 4 (comprising C16:1 ω7c and/or iso-C15:0 2OH), and C17:0 cyclo. Genomic and chemotaxonomic data supported the affiliation of strain BXN5-27T to the genus Ramlibacter. However, physiological and biochemical tests differentiated it phenotypically from the other established species of Ramlibacter. Therefore, the isolate represents a novel species, for which the name Ramlibacter ginsenosidimutans sp. nov. is proposed, with the type strain being BXN5-27T (=DSM 23480T=LMG 24525T=KCTC 22276T).

Background: The purpose of this retrospective study was to evaluate the clinical utility of an implant with a sandblasted, large-grit, acid-etched (SLA) surface and internal connection. Methods: Six patients who received dental implants in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Chonnam National University Dental Hospital, were analyzed by factors influencing the success rate and marginal bone loss. Factors included patient's age, sex, implant installation site, whether bone graft was done, type of bone graft materials, approaching method if sinus lift was done, and the size of the fixture. In addition, the marginal bone loss was analyzed by using a radiograph. Results: All implants were successful, and the cumulative survival rate was 100 %. Average marginal bone loss of 6 months after the installation was 0.52 mm and 20 months after the functional loading was 1.06 mm. Total marginal bone resorption was 1.58 mm on average. There was no statistically significant difference in mesial and distal marginal bone loss. Conclusions: The short-term clinical success rate of the implant with an SLA surface and internal connection was satisfactory. Moreover, the marginal bone loss was also consistent with the implant success criteria.
