Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor May Be Involved in the Behavioral Changes of Progeny Rats after Exposure to Ceftriaxone Sodium during Pregnancy

Yang, Xin,Tang, Ting,Li, Mengchun,Chen, Jie,Li, Tingyu,Dai, Ying,Cheng, Qian The Korean Society for Microbiology and Biotechnol 2022 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.32 No.6

Antibiotic exposure during pregnancy have an adversely effects on offspring behavior and development. However, its mechanism is still poorly understood. To uncover this, we added ceftriaxone sodium to the drinking water of rats during pregnancy and conducted three-chamber sociability test, open-field test, and Morris water maze test in 3- and 6-week-old offspring. The antibiotic group offspring showed lower sociability and spatial learning and memory than control. To determine the role of the gut microbiota and their metabolites in the changes in offspring behavior, fecal samples of 6-week-old offspring rats were sequenced. The composition of dominant gut microbial taxa differed between the control and antibiotic groups. KEGG pathway analysis showed that S24-7 exerted its effects through the metabolic pathways including mineral absorption, protein digestion and absorption, Valine, leucine, and isoleucine biosynthesis. Correlation analysis showed that S24-7 abundance was negatively correlated with the level of VEGF, and metabolites associated with S24-7-including 3-aminobutanoic acid, dacarbazine, L-leucine, 3-ketosphinganine, 1-methylnicotinamide, and N-acetyl-L-glutamate-were also significantly correlated with VEGF levels. The findings suggest that antibiotic exposure during pregnancy, specifically ceftriaxone sodium, will adversely affects the behavior of offspring rats due to the imbalance of gut microbiota, especially S24-7, via VEGF and various metabolic pathways.

Simultaneous removal of NOx and SO2 using two-stage O3 oxidation combined with Ca(OH)2 absorption

        Yang Zou,Yan Wang,Xiaolong Liu,Tingyu Zhu,Mengkui Tian,Maoyu Cai 한국화학공학회 2020 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.37 No.11

This paper proposes two-stage O3 oxidation combined with Ca(OH)2 for simultaneous removal of NOx and SO2 (NOx: Nitrogen oxides including NO, NO2 and N2O5). In two-stage oxidation, NO was first oxidized to NO2 in an oxidation tube, and NO2 was further oxidized into N2O5 in the spray tower. NOx and SO2 were simultaneously removed in the spray tower. This method can effectively reduce the extra waste of O3 caused by the decomposition of N2O5, especially at high temperature. Effects of various factors on denitrification efficiency were investigated. The results showed that the NOx removal efficiency decreased and O3 extra consumption ratio increased with the increase of oxidation temperature or oxidation reaction time. When the O3/NO molar ratio was 1.8, one-stage O3 oxidation at 150 oC extra wasted 33.3% of O3. With the increase of O3 concentration at site 2, the NOx removal efficiency first increased and then stabilized. Compared with the one-stage O3 oxidation-absorption, the two-stage oxidation-absorption improved NOx removal efficiency from 62.5% to 89%. In addition, the increase of CaSO3 slurry concentration had little effect on the denitrification efficiency.

Study on chitosan/carbon nanotubes modified materials used to enhance the performance of dental binder

        Tingyu Tian,Yuping Cai,Shimao Yang,Yanwei Guo,Wei Zhou 한국탄소학회 2023 Carbon Letters Vol.33 No.6

In this study, we successfully grafted chitosan (CS) onto multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) to enhance their properties and potential applications in the biomedical field. FTIR spectroscopy confirmed the successful covalent bonding of CS onto MWCNTs, indicated by the new absorption peak of the amide bond (–CONH–). Thermal analysis showed that the modified MWCNTs (MWCNT-CS) had significant weight loss around 260 °C, suggesting the decomposition of hydroxypropyl chitosan, and confirming its presence in the nanocomposite. SEM images revealed that CS grafting improved the dispersibility of MWCNTs, a property crucial for their use as nanofillers in polymers. Moreover, the micro-tensile bond strength of dentin surface increased with increasing MWCNT-CS concentrations, indicating the potential of MWCNT-CS as a pretreatment for dentin bonding. After simulated aging, the bond strength remained significantly higher for MWCNT-CS groups compared to those without pretreatment. In biocompatibility assessment using the MTT assay, MWCNT-CS showed higher cell viability than MWCNT, suggesting improved biocompatibility after CS modification. The results of this study suggest that CS-modified MWCNTs could be promising materials for applications in dentin bonding, dentin mineralization, bone scaffolding, implants, and drug delivery systems.

Study on the Stability of Accumulated Layer Landslide under the Coupling Action of Earthquake and Rainfall

        Xiaohui Yang,Xianfeng Diao,Tingyu Zhou,Fei Hu,Sihan Wang 대한토목학회 2023 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.27 No.1

Tectonic movement, heavy rainfall and other environmental factors are important factors causing the slope instability of accumulation body. Aiming at jiangdingya H1 landslide in Bailong River Basin, Zhouqu County, Gansu Province, the deformation law and stability of accumulation landslide under the coupling condition of earthquake and rainfall were systematically analyzed by means of laboratory physical model test, numerical simulation and theoretical derivation. The results show that: 1) The crack development law of landslide model test under the coupling effect of earthquake and rainfall is analyzed, and the stability characteristics of landslide deformation and failure in three stages are obtained. 2) According to the model test and numerical simulation results, it is found that the coupling effect has the greatest influence on the stability of the slope toe of the accumulation landslide, and the failure mode of the accumulation landslide changes from “pull-shear” failure to “compression-shear” failure, and the failure of the accumulation landslide occurs in a local location. 3) Based on the unbalanced thrust method and GA model, a landslide stability calculation model of loose accumulation body under the coupling effect of earthquake and rainfall was improved by comprehensively considering the effects of complex factors such as seismic inertia force and seepage force. The research results can provide reference for landslide prevention, monitoring and early warning in Zhouqu area of Gansu Province.

CO2 capture and preparation of spindle-like CaCO3 crystals for papermaking using calcium carbide residue waste via an atomizing approach

        Liang Ma,Tingyu Yang,Yu Wu,Xiaoqing Yue,Jinrong Yang,Shuai Zhang,Qiang Li,Jianbin Zhang 한국화학공학회 2019 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.36 No.9

Spindle-like CaCO3 crystals with controllable sizes for papermaking were successfully prepared using CO2 (8% CO2/N2 mixture gas) and calcium carbide residue (CCR) waste, a by-product of acetylene gas and polyvinyl chloride production, as the raw materials by an atomization method at room temperature. The influences of solution concentration, reaction temperature, and gas/liquid flow rate ratios on the properties of the CaCO3 crystal were systematically investigated, and a possible atomization mechanism was proposed. The size of the as-prepared CaCO3 crystal with pure calcite phase was turned from 4.71×4.02 μm to 1.82×1.12 μm by adjusting the reaction conditions. The application of the as-prepared CaCO3 crystals from CCR waste as a filler for papermaking was explored. The R475 blue light whiteness of paper was increased from 77.3 to 80.6 with 11.4% CaCO3 crystals
