The Impact of Organizational Resilience on Hotel Performance during Pandemic COVID-19

        Mohammad Hamsal,Sri Bramantoro Abdinagoro,Arif Zulkarnain,Dino Gustaf Leonandri,Mohammad Ichsan 사람과세계경영학회 2022 Global Business and Finance Review Vol.27 No.1

Purpose: This study aims to examine the impact of dynamic capabilities and organizational resilience on firm performance driven by environmental turbulence of the hotel industry in Indonesia during the pandemic COVID-19. Design/methodology/approach: Herein, an integrated conceptual framework is developed and then tested using survey data from a cross-section of 194 hotels using structural equation modelling. Findings: The result of this research reveals that environmental turbulence significantly affects dynamic capabilities empirically. In other words, the dynamic capabilities affect organizational resilience, however, there is no significant effect from organizational resilience to hotel performance. This shows an indication of survival mode in the hotel industry in Indonesia. Research limitations/implications: This study extends theoretically the concept of organizational resilience in the context of environmental turbulence especially during pandemic COVID-19. Practical implication of this study justifies that during such crisis, it is imperative for the organizations to focus on survival rather than financial performance. Originality/value: This study introduces the antecedents of organizational resilience, namely the dynamic capabilities and environmental turbulence in the context of pandemic COVID-19. It also advances the knowledge on how the hotel industry can be managed during that period.

The Effect of E-Commerce Capabilities on Firm Performance

Ivan Triyogo PRIAMBODO,Sasmoko SASMOKO,Sri Bramantoro ABDINAGORO,Agustinus BANDUR 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.6

The creative industry is also impacted by volatile economic and business conditions; many entrepreneurs using E-commerce as one of their business channels. Companies adaptation rate may depend on their capabilities, such as innovation capabilities and dynamic capabilities. Indonesia has various cultures and a vast geographic area, which make creative industry in Indonesia develop their own unique traits and features. Unique characteristics of creative industry and its relationship with their capabilities and E-commerce performance have yet been explored. In this paper, we discuss the phenomenon and produce findings related with direct and indirect impact between E-commerce capabilities, innovation capabilities, and creative firm E-commerce performance. Quantitative approach with cluster random sampling towards 383 entrepreneurs and business owners were used in this paper. Empirical result from this study has shown that creative firm E-commerce performance was significantly influenced through indirect relationship E-commerce capabilities and innovation capabilities. On the other hand, direct relationship result between E-commerce capabilities toward creative firm E-commerce performance was insignificant. This result means that innovation capabilities play an essential role as decent mediator and catalyst in order to enhance E-commerce capabilities impact for achieving superior firm performance in terms of creative industry, which may be used as guidelines for entrepreneurs and business owners.

Managing Sustainability of Energy Transition among Expert Engineers: Co-creating Technopreneurial Orientation

Yud Buana,Tirta Nugraha Mursitama,Sri Bramantoro Abdinagoro,Yosef Dedy Pradipto 사람과세계경영학회 2022 Global Business and Finance Review Vol.27 No.6

Purpose: Research to improve co-creation in engineering and technopreneurial orientation is required to support the energy transition toward sustainability. This challenge is aimed at power system expert engineers, whose central role in the electricity sector is becoming increasingly complicated by the possibility of stranded assets, intermittency paradigms, and new patterns of energy flow. This research explains the importance of the co-creation process as a mediator to enable the utilization of the technopreneurial orientation among expert engineers in supporting the sustainability of the electricity sector. Design/methodology/approach: The survey method was carried out to collect data from expert power system engineers with more than ten years of experience in the national electricity sector. The quantitative method with structural equation modeling analysis and a partial least square approach was used in this research. Findings: Empowering expert engineers in a technopreneurial orientation can encourage them to co-create by prioritizing dialogue that allows for accessibility and transparency when taking risks, which is an important aspect that boosts the co-creation effect in the energy transition to sustainability. The strong behavior of experts in utilizing technopreneurial orientation and the co-creation process has been demonstrated to be capability of adopting the three aspects contained in the energy trilemma index, energy security, energy equity, and environmental sustainability, which are modified to reflect a strong tendency to achieve sustainability in the electricity sector. Research limitations/implications: Although this study's respondents are limited to expert engineers in the electricity sector, the findings have implications for the management of experts in other strategic and large-scale sectors. The limited number of respondents to expert engineers with more than ten years of work experience makes millennials excluded. Originality/value: The measurement indicator becomes novelty in this study. Sustainability was adopted and modified from the energy trilemma index. Technopreneurial orientation adopted from Lumpkin & Dess (1996) was modified by the addition of technological expertise. Then, co-creation as a mediator is taken from the DART of value co-creation.

E-Commerce Readiness of Creative Industry During the COVID-19 Pandemic in Indonesia

PRIAMBODO, Ivan Triyogo,SASMOKO, Sasmoko,ABDINAGORO, Sri Bramantoro,BANDUR, Agustinus Korea Distribution Science Association 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.3

COVID-19 pandemic has brought the world into economic recession. This study aims to present an analysis of the readiness of creative e-commerce in Indonesia. Data was collected from various locations that may represent the Creative Industry in Indonesia. The quantitative method has been applied as a research approach by gathering questionnaires from 383 business owners selected using the cluster random sampling method. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion, it is concluded that E-Commerce Readiness is very important in times of uncertainty such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The level of readiness will determine the continuity and sustainability of a company or business in a volatile business environment. E-Commerce Readiness can be evaluated based on Technology Readiness, Organizational Readiness, and Environmental Readiness. Not all perspectives are taken into consideration in making decisions about the implementation or improvement of E-Commerce in the pandemic period. Technology Readiness is seen as the most significant impact on a company's ability to cope with volatility, while Environmental Constraints encourage businesses to adopt E-Commerce and take it to the next level. On the other hand, Organizational Readiness has no effect on the E-Commerce readiness of the company because the company or organization does not consider this aspect.
