Objective: Although endoscopic drill has the advantages in manipulation and hemostasis, whose low efficiency and blurred vision reduce the efficacy of lumbar endoscopic unilateral laminotomy with bilateral decompression (LE-ULBD). The present study was designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of full-visualized trephine/osteotome in the LE-ULBD surgery for severe lumbar stenosis. Methods: Fifty-seven severe lumbar stenosis patients who underwent LE-ULBD between January 2020 to January 2023 were enrolled, who were divided into drill and visualized trephine groups. The medical records including demographics, operative duration, intraoperative electrophysiological findings, postoperative hospital stay or hospital stay, postoperative outcomes and complications were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed. Results: A total of 57 patients included 15 in drill and 42 in trephine group were enrolled in the study. There was significant difference in the pre- and postoperative visual analogue scale and Oswestry Disability Index scores in both groups (p < 0.05). The mean operative duration in the trephine group (101.05 ± 12.18 minutes) was shorter than that in the drill group (134.67 ± 9.68 minutes) (p < 0.05). There was no statistical difference between the 2 groups in electrophysiological monitoring, posthospital stays, postoperative outcomes and complications. Abnormal free-electromyography (EMG) were recorded in 2 (13.3%) and 5 patients (11.9%) in the drill and trephine group. Intraoperative somatosensory evoked potential changes occurred in 3 (20%) and 3 patients (7.1%) in the drill and trephine group and all patients recovered immediately when surgery ended. No serious complications and recurrence occurred in all the patients. Conclusion: Full-visualized trephine/osteotome has been approved to be convenient, safe and efficient in our study, which combined with translaminar inside-out technique and EMG monitoring especially free-EMG may offer a new choice in LE-ULBD surgery for lumbar stenosis patients.

<P>Dual ion batteries based on Na<SUP>+</SUP> and PF<SUB>6</SUB><SUP>-</SUP> received considerable attention due to their high operating voltage and the abundant Na resources. Here, cheap and easily obtained graphite that served as a cathode material for dual ion battery delivered a very high average discharge platform (4.52 V vs Na<SUP>+</SUP>/Na) by using sodium hexafluorophosphate in propylene carbonate as electrolyte. Moreover, the all-carbon dual ion batteries with graphite as cathode and hard carbon as anode exhibited an ultrahigh discharge voltage of 4.3 V, and a reversible capacity of 62 mAh·g<SUP>-1</SUP> at 40 mA·g<SUP>-1</SUP>. Phase changes have been investigated in detail through in situ X-ray diffraction and in situ Raman characterizations. The stable structure provides long life cycling performance, and the pseudocapacitance behavior also demonstrates its benefits to the rate capability. Thus, dual ion batteries based on sodium chemistry are very promising to find their applications in future.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
Fabrication of $MgB_2$ tape with metal powder addition

The $MgB_2$ tapes with several metal powder addition were fabricated by PIT method with or without heat treatment. The $J_c$ value of $5.600A/cm^2$ and $16.000A/cm^2$ at 4.2 K and 5 T were obtained for the $MgB_2$ tape and 10 vol % of Cu added $MgB_2$ tape without heat treatment respectively. The $J_c$ value of $8.000A/cm^2$ and $35,000A/cm^2$ at 4.2 K and 5 T were obtained for the $MgB_2$ tape and 10 vol. % of Al added $MgB_2$ tape with heat treatment, respectively. The $J_c-B$ curve shows enhancement in $J_c$ under magnetic field. which suggests enhancement in workability and grain connectivity with several metal powder addition.

The growth properties of MOD-YBCO films were investigated. To enhance the growth rate of YBCO layer and inhibit the build-up of HF gas during the annealing process in TFA-MOD for YBCO coated conductors the method of low pressure annealing was employed. Total pressure was changed from 700Torr to 1Torr and its effect on growth of YBCO films was compared with atmospheric one. The lower Pressure was effective to control of the pore size in MOD method . Surface morphology of YBCO films processed at low total pres sure was rough and composed of random YBCO (103) grains. But large pores, usually observed at atmospheric process in MOD disappeared and also the number of pores was reduced at low pressure annealing. Also discussed ate the effects of Fluorine-free Y and Cu precursor solution on the development of microstructure. Dense surface me phology and with less and small pores can be provided through controlling Fluorine content.
