        Prevention of Eye Disorders through Healthy Lifestyle with special reference to Padabhyanga

        Among five sense organs or Gyanendriyas 'Eyes' are considered as most important sense organs. They are said to be the path to mind and seat of Tejas (Light). Now a days due to their overuse and negligence in maintenance we are facing many eye related problems like Dry Eye Syndrome, Cataract, Age related Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, Computer Vision Syndrome etc. To observe the association of defective lifestyle and related eye problems with their preventive measures, different Ayurvedic procedures are reviewed from ancient literatures and some modern researches. Dinacharya (Daily regimen) explained in Ayurveda helps to prevent many derangements. Lifestyle modification in terms of proper daily regimen and dietary regimen could help to prevent eye problems. Padabhyanga (foot massage) is one of the procedures mentioned in Dinacharya, an effective therapy for healing of eye disorders.

      • Locating London in Prafulla Mohanti’s Through Brown Eyes

        Through Brown Eyes is a classic blend of the myriad ideas of England expressed in travel?autobiographies of the post?colonial migrant genre. The article shows the author navigate the different spaces created by the city in his mind? the childish and dreamy England; picturesque and Wordsworthian England; the cosmopolitan and individualist England; the xenophobic England and the largerthan?life England. These images are not monolithic; they alter over a period of time and are an omnipresent phenomenon that Mohanti has to live with. Through Brown Eyes blends admiration with resentment and accommodates elements of ambivalence. The book traces the darker aspects of the West? its racial intolerance, the angst of being alienated in a foreign land and the nostalgia that grips a lonely immigrant. It brings out the brown man’s idea of England as the ethnocentric ‘other’. Claiming a kind of equality, Prafulla Mohanti wrests the interpretative initiatives from the West.

        Microwave assisted sintering of high voltage porcelain material and its characterization

        The microwave assisted sintering of a commercial grade quartz body porcelain composition was carried out in air at a frequency of 2.45 GHz. The sintered samples were characterized by different analytical techniques. The properties of the microwave- sintered products were compared with those obtained by a commercially- processed method in a partial reducing atmosphere. It was observed that porcelain samples can be fast fired in a microwave furnace to give better mechanical strength. The required phase contents can be developed during fast microwave firing. The electrical properties such as volume resistivity, breakdown voltage, dielectric strength and dissipation factor are reported which are essential for high voltage applications. The comprehensive results obtained in this study indicate that significant savings in energy are possible in processing a complicated triaxial porcelain material.         Local diagonal extrema number pattern: A new feature descriptor for face recognition

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This paper proposes a simple and novel feature descriptor for face recognition called local diagonal extrema number pattern (LDENP). LDENP produces a compact code of facial features which is obtained by encoding the directional information of the face image. Further, LDENP micro-patterns are created using values and indices of the local diagonal extremas (i.e. minima and maxima) using first order local diagonal derivatives that extract the directional information. Moreover, the proposed algorithm partitions the face into several regions to facilitate extraction of features from each region individually. Consequently, the extracted features are concatenated into a single feature vector which is used as a face descriptor. In this work, only the diagonal neighbours are considered, hence, the dimension of the feature, and the computation time to recognize the face are reduced. Therefore, the curse of dimensionality problem is solved. Experimental results are carried out on standard benchmark databases like FERET, Extended YALE-B, ORL and LFW-a. Moreover, efficiency of LDENP descriptor is asserted by comparing recognition rates of the proposed method with other existing local-descriptor based methods.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> The proposed descriptor uses first order derivatives to encode the image rather than using masks. </LI> <LI> The proposed descriptor considers only the local diagonal pixels values rather than the local neighbour pixels. </LI> <LI> The proposed descriptor calculates the micro-patterns based on the first order local diagonal extrema number pattern. </LI> <LI> The proposed descriptor yields a high face recognition rate. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Primary multifocal cystic signet ring neuroendocrine tumor of liver: a case report

        Primary signet ring neuroendocrine tumors of the liver are extremely rare tumors. Morphologically, they mimic signet ring cell adenocarcinomas; however, the absence of mucin by special stains and the expression of neuroendocrine markers help to diagnose these tumors. We herein report a case of a 47-year-old female who presented with multiple solid and cystic lesions in both liver lobes, which were initially suggested to be biliary cystadenocarcinoma on imaging. Liver biopsy of the lesion revealed the presence of a signet ring neoplasm with diffuse expression of synaptophysin and pan-cytokeratin. The case was subsequently diagnosed as a primary hepatic signet ring neuroendocrine tumor. The patient was offered 3 cycles of chemotherapy and is well preserved after 14 months of diagnosis. Although this is an extremely rare entity, its possibility should be considered in the differential diagnosis of neoplasms characterized by signet ring cell morphology.         A new quarternionic dirac operator on symplectic submanifold of a product symplectic manifold

        The Quaternionic Dirac operator proves instrumental in tackling various challenges within spectral geometry processing and shape analysis. This work involves the introduction of the quaternionic Dirac operator on a symplectic submanifold of an exact symplectic product manifold. The self adjointness of the symplectic quaternionic Dirac operator is observed. This operator is verified for spin $\frac{1}{2}$ particles. It factorizes the Hodge Laplace operator on the symplectic submanifold of an exact symplectic product manifold. For achieving this a new complex structure and an almost quaternionic structure are formulated on this exact symplectic product manifold.

        Remote Sensing of Cloud Ice Water Path from SAPHIR Microwave Sounder Onboard Megha- Tropiques

        This study derives the ice water path of the atmospheric column from the microwave sounder SAPHIR onboard Megha- Tropiques. SAPHIR (Sondeur Atmosphérique du Profil d’Humidité Intertropicale par Radiométrie) is a cross-track, multichannel microwave humidity sounder with six channels ranging from 183.3 ± 0.2 to 183.3 ± 11 GHz near the 183.31 GHz water vapor absorption line. It measures the earth emitted radiation at these six frequencies. In this paper, Concurrent and collocated observations of Channel 183.31 ± 6.6 GHz, and 183.3 ± 11 GHz from SAPHIR and IWP (Ice water Path) from CloudSat have been used in the development the algorithm. A total of five sets of neural network model, each for 10° of incidence angle of SAPHIR have been developed. The model shows a correlation of 0.83 and RMSE of 195 g/m2 with an independent test dataset. The validation of the algorithm has been done by comparing the retrieval with various satellite derived IWP products such as CloudSat, GMI (Global precipitation measuring mission Microwave Imager) and MSPPS (Microwave Surface and Precipitation Products System). The instantaneous comparisons of IWP over a cyclonic storm ROANU demonstrate a good agreement between NN (Neural Network) derived IWP and CloudSat. A probability distribution of IWP indicates consistency between SAPHIR and CloudSat. A comparison of zonal mean between all the IWP products shows that SAPHIR performs better than GMI, and MSPPS.

        Rheumatiod Arthritis: An Updated Overview of Latest Therapy and Drug Delivery

        Rheumatoid arthritis is a severe autoimmune disorder, related to joints. It is associated with serious cartilage destruction. This causes disability and reduces the excellence of life. Numerous treatments are existed to combat this disease, however, they are not very efficient and possess severe side effects, higher doses, and frequent administration. Therefore, newer therapies are developed to overcome all these limitations. These include different monoclonal antibodies, immunoglobulins, small molecules used for immunotherapy and transgenes for gene therapy. One of the main goals of these new generation therapeutics is to address the underlying distressing biological processes by specifically targeting the causative agents with fewer systemic side effects and greater patient console. It is very fortuitous that loads of progressive investigations are going on in this field and many of them have entered into the successful clinical trial. But till date, a limited molecule has got FDA clearance and entered the market for treating this devastating disease. This review highlights the overview of conventional therapy and advancements in newer therapeutics including immunotherapy and gene therapy for rheumatoid arthritis. Further, different novel techniques for the delivery of these therapeutics of active and passive targeting are also described.
