<P>Hybrid materials containing single atoms or molecule-based active species immobilized on nanomaterials have been suggested as new, efficient catalytic systems for various reactions. In this study, novel hybrid materials consisting of molecularly dispersed Ni-based species on a graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) framework are prepared, and their excellent electrocatalytic performance for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is discussed. Extensive chemical and structural characterizations confirm that the Ni-based species are attached and well-dispersed on the C3N4 network without agglomeration. In addition, results obtained from electrochemical characterization suggest that Ni-containing molecular entities dispersed on the C3N4 network are active species for the OER. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. DNA-Functionalized 100 nm Polymer Nanoparticles from Block Copolymer Micelles

<P>DNA-mediated self-assembly of colloidal particles is one of the most promising approaches for constructing colloidal superstructures. For nanophotonic materials and devices, DNA-functionalized colloids with diameters of around 100 nm are essential building blocks. Here, we demonstrate a strategy for synthesizing DNA-functionalized polymer nanoparticles (DNA-polyNPs) in the size range of 55-150 nm using block copolymer micelles as a template. Diblock copolymers of polystyrene-<I>b</I>-poly(ethylene oxide) with an azide end group (PS-<I>b</I>-PEO-N<SUB>3</SUB>) are first formed into spherical micelles. Then, the micelle cores are swollen with the styrene monomer and polymerized, thus producing PS NPs with PEO brushes and azide functional end groups. DNA strands are conjugated onto the ends of the PEO brushes through a strain-promoted alkyne-azide cycloaddition reaction, resulting in a DNA density of more than one DNA strand per 12.6 nm<SUP>2</SUP> for 70 nm particles. The DNA-polyNPs with complementary sequences enable the formation of CsCl-type colloidal superstructure by DNA binding.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

This study examined the effectiveness of Korean-Western cooperative treatment for patients with plantar fasciitis. Fifty patients received Korean medicine treatments (acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, herbal medicine) and Western medicine treatments (polydeoxyribonucleotide, and extracorporeal shock wave therapy). Evaluation methods used were comparison before and after ultrasound (P9), and numeric rating scale scores. Mesults revealed a significant improvement in the level of pain and evaluation of improvement using ultrasound. Moreover, it was suggested that Korean-Western cooperative medicine treatment may be effective for the treatment of plantar fasciitis.
