For the LED front lamp system, Universal Controller is gradually getting expanded in the world. For corresponding the technical trend and system optimization, we have approached in terms of vehicle level as well as LED load level. By understanding lamp system architecture and hardware functional distribution, we could make discrete LDMs into Universal LDM based on CAN communication. It enables us to control LED lamp very flexible and scalable with regardless of lamp variation depend on regional and specified option. Additionally, it is very compatible with future technologies such as pixel and matrix control in connection with autonomous driving.
The changing epidemiology of herpes zoster over a decade in South Korea, 2006–2015

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P><B>Background</B></P> <P>In South Korea, the population is rapidly aging and the prevalence of comorbidities has increased. We investigated longitudinal changes in the herpes zoster (HZ) considering demographic changes and comorbidities in the era of universal single-dose varicella vaccination.</P> <P><B>Methods</B></P> <P>We used the population-based database of the National Health Insurance Service in South Korea, with approximately 50 million subscribers during 2006–2015. HZ cases were identified using ICD-10 codes and comorbid conditions were also collected. Incidence rates (IRs) and incidence rate ratios (IRRs) per year were calculated adjusting for age, sex, comorbidities and socioeconomic status, and the temporal trends were examined using segmented negative binomial regression analysis.</P> <P><B>Results</B></P> <P>Over a decade, the adjusted HZ IR increased significantly from 4.23 to 9.22 per 1000 person-years (adjusted IRR 1.05, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.04–1.06). However, during 2012–2015, the increasing trends decelerated (adjusted IRR per year 1.01, 95% CI 0.98–1.04) and slope changes differed by age. There was a declining trend in children under 9 years, sustained increase in adults aged 30–39 years, and near-plateau in those aged 50–69 years. Nonetheless, the age distribution of HZ incidence did not change over a decade, with the peak in adults aged 60–79 years. HZ-associated hospitalization rates also increased, with a deceleration in the increasing trends during 2012–2015.</P> <P><B>Conclusions</B></P> <P>The HZ burden increased independently of demographic changes and prevalence of comorbidities. However, different trajectories by age group necessitate continuous HZ surveillance for better understanding of these changes, and to provide evidence for development of preventive strategies.</P>
Mutations in SOHLH1 gene associate with nonobstructive Azoospermia

<P>In a previous study, we found SOHLH1 (spermatogenesis and oogenesis-specific basic helix-loop-helix 1) as the first testis-specific basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor essential for spermatogonial differentiation. SOHLH1 therefore represents an excellent candidate gene for testicular failure such as nonobstructive azoospermia (NOA). We analyzed whether there were mutations in the SOHLH1 gene in 96 Korean patients with NOA. The sequence analysis discovered three novel variations: one intronic variant (c.346−1G>A), and two nonsynonymous exonic variants (c.91T>C and c.529C>A) with known single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), which included six intronic variants, two synonymous, and two nonsynonymous variants. We examined the consequences of mutations in SOHLH1 using in vivo and in vitro assays. Analysis of transcripts from minigenes carrying the c.346−1G>A revealed that splicing site variation leads to the partial deletion at a cryptic splicing site within exon 4. This deletion results in SOHLH1 with a truncated bHLH domain. Transient transfection assay showed that the SOHLH1 mutant with the truncated domain disrupted the transcriptional activity of KIT promoter, whereas two missense mutations harboring either p.Arg37Gln or p.Pro269Ser did not have a significant effect on its transactivation. Our findings indicate that a splice-acceptor site mutation that probably causes a nonfunctional SOHLH1 protein results in nonobstructive azoospermia by the lack of normal spermatogenesis. 선하역사는 역사 건물의 상부에 위치한 노반구조물을 통하여 열차 운행으로 인한 진동이 직접 역사 구조물로 전달되므로 소음 진동에 취약한 구조이다. 선하역사 내부의 소음은 주로 구조물의 진동으로 인하여 발생하는 고체소음이므로 보다 효율적인 진동 저감 대책의 수립을 위해서는 역사의 구조 형식, 부재 및 재료 등의 구성 요소에 따른 구조적 거동 및 감쇠 특성의 파악이 중요하다. 이 논문에서는 선하역사와 인접 교량과의 접속부의 역학적 특성에 따른 진동 특성 변화에 대한 검토 결과를 제시하였다. 해석 대상 역사는 대천역이며, ABAQUS로 유한요소해석을 수행하였다. 접속부 특성은 접속 교량이 있는 경우와 없는 경우, 그리고 있는 경우 라멘식과 받침형식으로 구분하여 검토를 수행하였다. Since the vibration induced by a train is transferred directly to a station via a roadbed structure, the elevated station is particularly vulnerable to noise and vibration. To establish more appropriate measures to reduce vibration, the structural behavior and damping characteristics depending on the structural type and the composition of a elevated station should be identified, because the noise inside the station is mainly structure borne noise by the vibration of a station structure. In this paper, the vibration characteristic changes depending on mechanical connection types between an elevated station and a connected bridge are analyzed. The finite element model for Daecheon Station is constructed for the purpose of this study, and the analysis is performed using ABAQUS. The analyses are conducted for with and without bridge connections, and for the bridge connections, ramen and bearing types are considered in the analysis.
Sea Clutter Covariance Matrix Estimation and Its Application to Whitening Filter

The accurate estimation of clutter covariance matrix (CCM) is essential in designing a radar detector/filter to suppress sea clutter. This estimation might not be easily accomplished because of the scarcity of valid training vectors adjacent to the range cell under test (CUT). We propose a new CCM estimation algorithm that is derived by modeling time-series clutter returns into a clutter Doppler spectrum in the frequency domain and exploiting mutual independence among spectral components. To justify its excellence over the conventional sample covariance matrix (SCM) algorithm, we design two filters—a maximum signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR)-based filter and a whitening filter—that use the estimated CCMs and compare their performance in a numerically simulated sea clutter scenario. Comparisons are made by showing the eigenvector spectra of the estimated CCMs and the frequency responses and outputs of the filters. Moreover, SINRs at the target Doppler bin are examined and compared with a theoretical, analytically derived SINR.
Interface Engineering of Hematite with Nacre-like Catalytic Multilayers for Solar Water Oxidation

<P>An efficient water oxidation photoanode based on hematite has been designed and fabricated by tailored assembly of graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets and cobalt polyoxometalate (Co-POM) water oxidation catalysts into a nacre-like multilayer architecture on a hematite photoanode. The deposition of catalytic multilayers provides a high photocatalytic efficiency and photoelectrochemical stability to underlying hematite photoanodes. Compared to the bare counterpart, the catalytic multilayer electrode exhibits a significantly higher photocurrent density and large cathodic shift in onset potential (∼369 mV) even at neutral pH conditions due to the improved charge transport and catalytic efficiency from the rational and precise assembly of GO and Co-POM. Unexpectedly, the polymeric base layer deposited prior to the catalytic multilayers improves the performance even more by facilitating the transfer of photogenerated holes for water oxidation through modification of the flat band potential of the underlying photoelectrode. This approach utilizing polymeric base and catalytic multilayers provides an insight into the design of highly efficient photoelectrodes and devices for artificial photosynthesis.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
Interregional synaptic maps among engram cells underlie memory formation

<P>Memory resides in engram cells distributed across the brain. However, the site-specific substrate within these engram cells remains theoretical, even though it is generally accepted that synaptic plasticity encodes memories. We developed the dual-eGRASP (green fluorescent protein reconstitution across synaptic partners) technique to examine synapses between engram cells to identify the specific neuronal site for memory storage. We found an increased number and size of spines on CA1 engram cells receiving input from CA3 engram cells. In contextual fear conditioning, this enhanced connectivity between engram cells encoded memory strength. CA3 engram to CA1 engram projections strongly occluded long-term potentiation. These results indicate that enhanced structural and functional connectivity between engram cells across two directly connected brain regions forms the synaptic correlate for memory formation.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Nobox is an oocyte-specific transcriptional regulator. <I>Nobox</I> deficiency disrupts early folliculogenesis and the expression of oocyte-specific genes in mice. In the present study, we found that peptidylarginine deiminase 6 (<I>Pad6</I>) was downregulated in <I>Nobox</I>-null ovaries. <I>Pad6</I> is preferentially expressed in oocytes and its transcript is detectable at embryonic day 16.5. In addition, we identified one Nobox DNA-binding element (NBE) within the mouse <I>Pad6</I> promoter. The NBE includes a core sequence TAATTA. Sequence-specific binding of Nobox to the TAATTA motif was confirmed. <I>Nobox</I> overexpression augmented transcriptional activity of a <I>luciferase</I> reporter driven by mouse Pad6. Our findings indicate that Nobox is a critical regulator that orchestrates oocyte-specific genes such as <I>Pad6</I> during folliculogenesis.</P>
Optimization of Herbicidin A Production in Submerged Culture of Streptomyces scopuliridis M40

Herbicidin A is a potent herbicide against dicotyledonous plants as well as an antibiotic against phytopathogens. In this study, fermentation parameters for herbicidin A production in submerged culture of Streptomyces scopuliridis M40 were investigated. The herbicidin A concentration varied with the C/N ratio. High C/N ratios (>4) resulted in a herbicidin A production of more than 900 mg/l, whereas maximally 600 mg/l was obtained at ratios between 1 and 3.5. In 5-L batch fermentation, there was a positive correlation between the oxygen uptake rate (OUR) and herbicidin A production. Once the OUR increased, the substrate consumption rate increased, leading to an increase in volumetric productivity. Mechanical shear force affected the hyphal morphology and OUR. When the medium value of hyphal size ranged from 150 to 180 μm, high volumetric production of herbicidin A was obtained with OUR values >137 mg O<sub>2</sub>/l·h. The highest herbicidin A concentration of 956.6 mg/l was obtained at 500 rpm, and coincided with the highest relative abundance of hyphae of 100-200 μm length and the highest OUR during cultivation. Based on a constant impeller tip speed, which affects hyphal morphology, herbicidin A production was successfully scaled up from a 5-L jar to a 500-L pilot vessel.
