      • Molecular Mechanisms of Casticin Action: an Update on its Antitumor Functions

        Rasul, Azhar,Zhao, Bin-Ji,Liu, Jun,Liu, Bao,Sun, Jia-Xin,Li, Jiang,Li, Xiao-Meng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.21

Casticin (3', 5-dihydroxy-3, 4', 6, 7-tetramethoxyflavone) is an active compound isolated from roots, stems, leaves, fruits and seeds of a variety of plants. It is well known for its pharmacological properties and has been utilized as an anti-hyperprolactinemia, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotetective, analgesic and immunomodulatory agent. Recently, the anticancer activity of casticin has been extensively investigated. The resulkts showed that it exerts protective potential by targeting apoptosis, considered important for cancer therapies. In this article, our aim was to review the pharmacological and therapeutic applications of casticin with specific emphasis on its anticancer functions and related molecular mechanisms. Chemotherapeutic effects are dependent on multiple molecular pathways, which may provide a new perspective of casticin as a candidate anti-neoplastic drug. This review suggests that additional studies and preclinical trials are required to determine specific intracellular sites of action and derivative targets in order to fully understand the mechanisms of its antitumor activity and validate this compound as a medicinal agent for the prevention and treatment of various cancers.

Genetic diversity and population structure assessment of Iraqi tomato accessions using fruit characteristics and molecular markers

Rasul Kamaran Salh,Grundler Florian M. W.,Abdul-razzak Tahir Nawroz 한국원예학회 2022 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.63 No.4

Accessions are a prospective source of genetic variability, as well as valuable genetic resources for crop improvement. Assessing the population structure and genetic diversity of Iraqi tomato accessions is therefore critical in breeding programs for the production of high-yielding cultivars, as well as widening the genetic base of tomato. Using fruit quality indices and molecular markers, a panel of 64 tomato accessions taken from six northern provinces of Iraq were analyzed for genetic diversity and population structure. In the analysis of variance, the fruit phenotypic data revealed a high level of significant variability (p ≤ 0.01) among tomato accessions. The most important characteristics for explaining fruit morphological variability, according to principal component analysis (PCA), were fruit weight, fruit size, fruit diameter, total soluble solids, and moisture content. Seven clades with different fruit characteristics were revealed in the cluster analysis. Genetic diversity and relationships among accessions were analyzed using thirteen inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR), twenty-six start codon-targeted (SCoT) polymorphisms, and fifteen conserved DNA-derived polymorphisms (CDDP). The ISSR, SCoT, and CDDP markers generated 121, 294, and 170 polymorphic bands, respectively, showing a high prevalence of polymorphism. The average polymorphism information content (PIC) values for ISSR, SCoT, and CDDP were 0.81, 0.84, and 0.84, respectively. The accessions were divided into two groups based on the cluster and STRUCTURE analysis results. The Mantel test revealed that three sets of markers had a positive and significant relationship. The increased genetic variation within the populations was found by the analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA), indicating considerable gene exchange between populations. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first extensive report on the use of gene-targeted molecular markers for genetic diversity analysis of tomato accessions in Iraq. Our findings demonstrated the utility of these markers for genetic diversity study in tomato accessions, as well as their potential for genome diversity and germplasm conservation.

        SOME ABELIAN MCCOY RINGS

        Rasul Mohammadi,Ahmad Moussavi,Masoome Zahiri Korean Mathematical Society 2023 대한수학회지 Vol.60 No.6

We introduce two subclasses of abelian McCoy rings, so-called π-CN-rings and π-duo rings, and systematically study their fundamental characteristic properties accomplished with relationships among certain classical sorts of rings such as 2-primal rings, bounded rings etc. It is shown that a ring R is π-CN whenever every nilpotent element of index 2 in R is central. These rings naturally generalize the long-known class of CN-rings, introduced by Drazin [9]. It is proved that π-CN-rings are abelian, McCoy and 2-primal. We also show that, π-duo rings are strongly McCoy and abelian and also they are strongly right AB. If R is π-duo, then R[x] has property (A). If R is π-duo and it is either right weakly continuous or every prime ideal of R is maximal, then R has property (A). A π-duo ring R is left perfect if and only if R contains no infinite set of orthogonal idempotents and every left R-module has a maximal submodule. Our achieved results substantially improve many existing results.

On annihilations of ideals in skew monoid rings

        Rasul Mohammadi,Ahmad Moussavi,Masoome Zahiri 대한수학회 2016 대한수학회지 Vol.53 No.2

According to Jacobson \cite{Jacobson}, a right ideal is bounded if it contains a non-zero ideal, and Faith \cite{Faith2} called a ring strongly right bounded if every non-zero right ideal is bounded. From \cite{Hwang}, a ring is strongly right $AB$ if every non-zero right annihilator is bounded. In this paper, we introduce and investigate a particular class of McCoy rings which satisfy Property ($A$) and the conditions asked by Nielsen \cite{Nielsen}. It is shown that for a u.p.-monoid $M$ and $\sigma: M \rightarrow {\rm End}(R)$ a compatible monoid homomorphism, if $R$ is reversible, then the skew monoid ring $R\ast M$ is strongly right $AB$. If $R$ is a strongly right $AB$ ring, $M$ is a u.p.-monoid and $\sigma: M \rightarrow {\rm End}(R)$ is a weakly rigid monoid homomorphism, then the skew monoid ring $R\ast M$ has right Property $(A)$.

A note on minimal prime ideals

        Rasul Mohammadi,Ahmad Moussavi,Masoome Zahiri 대한수학회 2017 대한수학회보 Vol.54 No.4

Let $R$ be a strongly $2$-primal ring and $I$ a proper ideal of $R$. Then there are only finitely many prime ideals minimal over $I$ if and only if for every prime ideal $P$ minimal over $I$, the ideal $P/\sqrt{I}$ of $R/\sqrt{I}$ is finitely generated if and only if the ring $R/\sqrt{I}$ satisfies the \emph{ACC} on right annihilators. This result extends ``D. D. Anderson, A note on minimal prime ideals, \emph{Proc. Amer. Math. Soc.} 122 (1994), no. 1, 13--14." to large classes of noncommutative rings. It is also shown that, a $2$-primal ring $R$ only has finitely many minimal prime ideals if each minimal prime ideal of $R$ is finitely generated. Examples are provided to illustrate our results.

      • A Simple and Robust Model-Based Loss Minimization Method for Direct Torque Control of Induction Motor

        S. Rasul Eftekhari,S. Alireza Davari,Peyman Naderi,Cristian Garcia,Jose Rodriguez 전력전자학회 2019 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2019 No.5

Across the different variety of loss decreasing methods, the loss-model-based methods (LMM) show a fast response and a low torque pulsation. Despite all the mentioned advantages, the approach needs the precise loss model and the knowledge of the motor parameters. Furthermore, the application of the model-based method is direct torque, and flux control is more complicated because the magnetic coefficients of the motor should accurately identify. In this paper, To solve the LMM’s issues, a new model based approach has presented. The inaccuracy problem has fulfilled by dividing the homogenous parameters by each other. Via using this technique, the need for magnetic coefficient identification and the effect of inaccurate parameters have dwindled. Coupled with this, the requirement for computation of iron core loss coefficients have omitted by replacing of iron core loss resistance, which by this deed, in a manner, the estimation precision of iron core loss will enhance. At last, the proposed method had verified by simulation and the results are presented in table format, withal, the parameters of the simulated motor have identified by analyzing an induction motor (IM) in ANSYS Maxwell.

Isoalantolactone, a sesquiterpene lactone, induces apoptosis in SGC-7901 cells via mitochondrial and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/Akt signaling pathways

        Azhar Rasul,Muhammad Khan,Bo Yu,Muhammad Ali,Yang Jing Bo,Hong Yang,Tonghui Ma 대한약학회 2013 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.36 No.10

Isoalantolactone, a sesquiterpene lactone, possessesanti-fungal as well as cytotoxic properties. In thisstudy, the effects of Isoalantolactone on cell viability, cellcycle, and apoptosis were investigated in human gastricadenocarcinoma SGC-7901 cells. The results demonstratedthat Isoalantolactone induced morphological changes anddecreased cell viability. Subsequently, we found that Isoalantolactoneinduced G2/M and S phase arrest, which wasassociated with a decrease in the expression level of cyclinB1. Apoptosis triggered by Isoalantolactone was visualizedusing propidium iodide (PI) and Annexin V-FITC/PIstaining. Isoalantolactone-induced apoptosis of SGC-7901cells was associated with the dissipation of mitochondrialmembrane potential (DWm) that was due to the down-regulationof Bcl-2 and up-regulation of Bax that led to thecleavage of caspase-3. Additionally, it was found thatIsoalantolactone was involved in the inhibition of phosphorylationof PI3K/Akt. Isoalantolactone-induced cytotoxicityand apoptosis of SGC-7901 cells involvemitochondria-caspase and PI3K/Akt dependent pathways, which gives the rationale for in vivo studies on the utilizationof Isoalantolactone as a potential cancer therapeuticcompound.
