Influence of Nitrogen/Hydrogen Atmospheres on Sintered Properties of P/M Components
Philips Thomas,Koh Kyung-Sug 한국분말야금학회 2006 한국분말야금학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2006 No.1
The effect of individual gas constituents in a sintering atmosphere is examined to optimize the sintered properties of Iron-Carbon P/M components. The influence of sintered properties is reviewed as a function of hydrogen percentages and dew point in the sintering zone. Microstructures, porosity, pore morphology and dimensional changes are the subject of this review. The effects of CO containing atmospheres are compared against the non CO atmospheres in terms of hardness, carbon control and dimensional changes.

Poly(diphenylamine-co-2-aminobenzonitrile) (P(DPA-co-2ABN)), a cyano group containing conducting polyaniline derivative, has been electrodeposited developed as the new material and utilized for the simultaneous electrochemical determination of trace levels of cadmium (Cd2+) and lead (Pb2+). P(DPA-co-2ABN) film preconcentrates effectively through cyano chelation and electrochemically strips the heavy metal ions with well separated potentials, which are beneficially utilized for ppb level simultaneous detection of Cd2+ and Pb2+. Differential pulse voltammetry studies revealed that Cd2+ and Pb2+ ions were simultaneously stripped with well-defined, separated and sharp peaks for Cd2+ and Pb2+. The influence of various operational parameters such as pulse amplitude, pulse time, scan rate, initial potential, end potential, accumulation potential and accumulation time on the electrochemical stripping of heavy metals were investigated in details. Under the optimal conditions, good linear correlations were obtained from 1.26 to 907.8ppm for Cd2+ and 0.26 to 58.73ppm for Pb2+, respectively. Low detection limits for Cd2+ and Pb2+, 0.255ppm and 0.165ppm, respectively, were observed. The practical utility of the new procedure was demonstrated in real samples.
Enhanced photocatalytic activity of CuxNi1−xFe2O4 -rGO composite
Agboola Philips O.,Shakir Imran 한국세라믹학회 2022 한국세라믹학회지 Vol.59 No.5
Here in this article, we reported the effect of divalent metal cations Cu 2+ on photocatalytic properties of spinel nickel fer- rite (NiFe 2 O 4 ). Copper substituted, and unsubstituted nickel ferrite particles were prepared by a wet chemical route. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy confirmed the successful formation of Cu-NiFe 2 O 4 and their composite with reduced graphene oxide (rGO). The rGO was used as conducting matrix as well as to enhance the catalytic sites on the surface of copper substituted nickel ferrites. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to confirm the preparation of Cu-NiFe 2 O 4 /rGO nanocomposite. The enhanced surface area of the prepared nanocomposite showed a drastic increase in their photocatalytic property. It was observed that photocatalytic activity of nickel NiFe 2 O 4 was enhanced up to about 30% when the crystal lattice of pure nickel ferrite was substituted by divalent copper metal ions. The Cu-NiFe 2 O 4 /rGO nanocomposite exhibited much higher degradation efficiency as compared to bare NiFe 2 O 4 . The photocatalytic activity of prepared copper substituted nickel ferrite, and their nanocomposite with reduced graphene oxide was further confirmed by electrochemical measurements. These included the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, photocurrent response, and Mott–Schottky measurements.

with the goal of providing data to academics, NGOs, IGOs, and national policy-makers focused on development and poverty reduction (http://www.crop.org/). After a 2003 CROP workshop in Greece, Poverty and Social Deprivation in the Mediterranean: Trends, Policies and Welfare Prospects in the New Millennium was published (2006). The book is a compilation of essays concentrating on the Mediterranean area. An ambitious and welcome contribution, it eschews the typical regional categorizations, instead analyzing poverty and solutions across the Mediterraneans differing political systems, economic levels, and social environments. Countries examined include Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece (Europe Union members and developed); Albania, Bosnia, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia,Croatia, Bulgaria, and Romania (the Balkan and Southeast European transitional economies); Turkey (a Middle Eastern-European cross-roads state); Israel (a Western-Middle Eastern hybrid); the Palestinian areas (zones struggling to develop amidst war), Lebanon (Middle Eastern and fractionalized), and the Maghreb states (North African). Given the regions historical connectedness, population movements, and cross-cultural linkages, this investigative focus was overdue.
Perceptions and Use of Open Access Journals by Nigerian Postgraduate Students
Ayeni, Philips Oluwaseun Korea Institute of Science and Technology Informat 2017 Journal of Information Science Theory and Practice Vol.5 No.1
This article investigates perceptions and use of Open Access journals (OAJs) by master's degree students in two universities in the southwestern part of Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was used in the study and the study population was comprised of 7,423 master's degree students in the University of Ibadan and 1,867 from Obafemi Awolowo University. A multistage random sampling technique was used to select a sample size of 249 and the data collection instrument was a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, mean, standard deviation, correlation, and regression analyses. The findings revealed that OAJs were used for learning, dissertation writing, personal research, and development. OAJs were not frequently used because of download delays, unavailability of Internet facilities, and limited access to computers terminals, among other issues. OAJs were found to be of relative advantage, positively perceived, and found to be compatible with existing values and quality assurance in scholarly publications, hence their use for academic activities. The regression analyses showed that there was a significant positive relationship between positive perception, perception of relative advantage, perception of compatibility, perception complexity, and master's degree students' use of OAJs. Negative perception was found to have a significant negative correlation with the use of OAJs. This article recommends that quality assurance of OAJs should be ensured in order to boost users' positive perceptions to increase their patronage and usage of these scholarly outlets for various academic activities, which will in turn encourage research and development across the various institutions of higher learning in Nigeria.
Synthesis of Novel Poly(amidoxime) Grafted Multiwall Carbon Nanotube Gel and Uranium Adsorption
Gopalan, A.,Philips, M.F.,Jeong, J.-H.,Lee, K.-P. American Scientific Publishers 2014 Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Vol.14 No.3
This is the first report on the synthesis of a new functional nanocomposite gel containing amidoxime functionalized multiwall carbon nanotube (AO-MWNT-FNC GEL). The surface morphology of AO-MWNT-FNC GEL was investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy. The modification of gel with amidoxine groups was confirmed by Fourier transform infra red spectroscopy. The AO-MWNT-FNC GEL provides effective binding with uranium ions as was ascertained by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The AO-MWNT-FNC GEL was utilized as the new adsorbent for the recovery of uranium ions from aqueous solution. UV-visible spectroscopy was used to monitor the adsorption capacity of the AO-MWNT-FNC GEL toward uranium ions. The influence of initial uranium ion concentration and solution pH on the adsorption capacity of the AO-MWNT-FNC GEL were studied in batch experiments. The new FNC-GEL designed in this study is distinguished by higher adsorption capacity for uranium ions due to the synergistic contributions from high surface area of MWNT and the functional AO groups in FNC-GEL and exhibits potential for efficient recovery of uranium ions.
