Copper(II) complexes with tetraoxo dithia tetraaza macrocyclic ligands; [18]ane$N_4S_2$: 1,4,10,13-tetraaza-5,9,14,18-tetraoxo-7,16-dithia-cyclooctadecane, [20]ane$N_4S_2$: 1,5,11,15-tetraaza-6,10,16,20-tetraoxo-8,18-dithia-cyclocosane,Bzo2[18]ane$N_4S_2$: dibenzo-1,4,10,13-tetraaza-5,9,14,18-tetraoxo-7,16-dithia-cyclooctadecane, Bzo2[20]ane$N_4S_2$: dibenzo-1,5,11,15-tetraaza-6,10,16,20-tetraoxo-8,18-dithia-cyclocosane; were entrapped in the nanopores of zeolite-Y by a two-step process in the liquid phase: (i) adsorption of [bis(diamine)copper(II)] (diamine = 1,2-diaminoethane, 1,3-diaminopropane, 1,2-diaminobenzene, 1,3-diaminobenzene); $[Cu(N-N)_2]^{2+}$-NaY; in the nanopores of the zeolite, and (ii) in situ template condensation of the copper(II) precursor complex with thiodiglycolic acid. The obtained complexes and new host-guest nanocomposite materials; $[Cu([18]aneN_4S_2)]^{2+}-NaY,\;[Cu([20]aneN_4S_2)]^{2+}-NaY,\;[Cu(Bzo_2[18]aneN_4S_2)]^{2+}-NaY,\;[Cu(Bzo_2[20]aneN_4S_2)]^{2+}$-NaY; have been characterized by elemental analysis FT-IR, DRS and UV-Vis spectroscopic techniques, molar conductance and magnetic moment data, XRD and, as well as nitrogen adsorption. Analysis of data indicates all of the complexes have been encapsulated within nanopore of zeolite Y without affecting the zeolite framework structure.

Cholangitis is relatively uncommon but associated mortality is high due to the predisposition in people with underlying disease. For this recognition of contributing risk factors is necessary. Therefore, the present descriptive-analytical cross-sectional survey was designed to determine contributing risk factors for post-ERCP cholangitis in patients with pancreatic cancer. From 2005 to 2010, 110 consecutive cases of pancreatic cancer attending to a tertiary referral centre (Taleghani Hospital), Tehran, Iran were recruited. The patients all underwent stenting via endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). On univariate analysis, a metallic stent type (95% confidence interval (CI) 1.025-11.34, P=0.037), having no jaundice (1.44-2.22, P=0.009), having no pain (1.32-1.91, P=0.026), a history of prior ERCP (1.16-10.37, P=0.020), and having a proximal biliary stone (1.002-5.93, P=0.046) were related to cholangitis. However on multivariate analysis, none of these factors were found to be contributing risk factors. Cholangitis is avoidable with adequate biliary drainage. Because success rates are higher and complication rates lower for endoscopists performing large volumes of ERCP, performance of the procedure should be concentrated as much as possible in institutions with endoscopists having adequate experience. Patients with a high risk for complications may be best served by referral to an advanced center.
Effects of endodontic tri-antibiotic paste on bond strengths of dentin adhesives to coronal dentin
Parvin Mirzakoucheki,Ricardo Walter,Navid Khalighinejad,Maryam Zare Jahromi,Sanaz Mirsattari,Navid Akbarzadeh 대한치과보존학회 2015 Restorative Dentistry & Endodontics Vol.40 No.2
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of tri-antibiotic paste (TAP) on microtensile bond strengths (MTBS) of dental adhesives to dentin. Materials and Methods: Sixty extracted molars had their occlusal surfaces flattened to expose dentin. They were divided into two groups, i.e., control group with no dentin treatment and experimental group with dentin treatment with TAP. After 10 days, specimens were bonded using self-etch (Filtek P90 adhesive) or etch-and-rinse (Adper Single Bond Plus) adhesives and restored with composite resin. Teeth were sectioned into beams, and the specimens were subjected to MTBS test. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA and post hoc Tukey tests. Results: There was a statistically significant interaction between dentin treatment and adhesive on MTBS to coronal dentin (p = 0.003). Despite a trend towards worse MTBS being noticed in the experimental groups, TAP application showed no significant effect on MTBS (p = 0.064). Conclusions: The etch-and-rinse adhesive Adper Single Bond Plus presented higher mean bond strengths than the self-etch adhesive Filtek P90, irrespective of the group. The superior bond performance for Adper Single Bond when compared to Filtek P90 adhesive was confirmed by a fewer number of adhesive failures. The influence of TAP in bond strength is insignificant.
