Intra-Organizational Factors Affecting Business Performance: An Empirical Study in Vietnam

Khuong Ngoc MAI,Thao Thi Thanh NGUYEN,Phuong Ngoc Duy NGUYEN,Khoa Tien TRAN 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.10

In the era of industry 4.0 with the robust digital transformation, especially under the trigger of the Covid-19 pandemic, the process of transforming businesses to achieve the desired business performance depends much on the mindset transformation of each member of the organization, beginning with the thoughts of leadership and stakeholders. This study will evaluate the relationship between leadership’s strategic reasoning perspectives on employee engagement or commitment and the company’s reputation, thereby directly or indirectly affecting organizational performance. The study examines data from 382 companies out of 500 samples in typical industries in Vietnam using the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) techniques. The results show that holistic thinking is closely related to employee retention and corporate reputation, thereby increasing the business outcomes of the organization, whereas there was no evidence to support analytical thinking in this study. As a consequence, transforming the business to achieve the desired business performance is heavily reliant on changing the mindset of each member of the organization, beginning with the top leaders and influencers of the business. This will assist Vietnamese leaders in gaining a comprehensive understanding of corporate governance and controlling the relationships between organizational constructs.

      • Ethical Leadership, Organizational Justice and Supporting Environment on Employee Engagement: Empirical Evidences for Public Policy Implications

Nguyen Ngoc Duy Phuong,Mai Ngoc Khuong,Thai Hoang Quoc,Le Nguyen Thanh Dong 한국유통과학회 2017 KODISA ICBE (International Conference on Business Vol.2017 No.-

The purpose of this study was to examine the direct and indirect effect of ethical leadership, organizational justice, organizational support on employee satisfaction and employee engagement. Very little research has been conducted to study those relationships in the socialization context. This paper attempts to fill the gap by analyzing data from a survey of 677 employees from industrial parks. This study used a survey instrument that consists of 2 sections. To ensure content validity, the survey items were derived from those used in previous studies. Each item was measured using a 5-point Likert scale. Ethical leadership scale with ten items were adopted from Toor and Ofori (2009). Partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) is employed for testing the structural models and exploratory study is also identified to evaluate the relationship among variables. The findings provided evidence that employee satisfaction is the most important to predict employee engagement. The results also reveal the important effect of ethical leadership, organizational justice and supporting environment on job satisfaction. Implications for public policy practice and further research are also suggested based on the results of structural analysis.

      • The Effect of Two-Dimensional Factor on Municipal Civil Servants’ Job Satisfaction and Public Policy Implications

Nguyen Ngoc Duy Phuong,Mai Ngoc Khuong,Le Huu Phuc,Le Nguyen Thanh Dong 한국유통과학회 2017 KODISA ICBE (International Conference on Business Vol.2017 No.-

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of two-dimensional factor of motivators and hygiene on civil servants’ job satisfaction by the partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) as a technique employed to analyze the measurement and structural models. This study used a survey instrument that consists of 2 sections. To ensure content validity, the survey items were derived from those used in previous studies. Each item was measured using a 5-point Likert scale. Exploratory study was identified to evaluate the relationship among variables. By using multistage stratified sampling, statistical data was collected from a survey of 441 public municipal civil servants who have employed in various levels (municipal government, districts and communes) in Vietnam. The findings provided evidence that hygiene factors (relationship with leader, salary, relationship with coworker and working environment) directly impact on civil servants’ job satisfaction. Meanwhile, only career development factor from motivators significantly influenced on public employee’s job satisfaction. The theoretical and practical significances of the study were discussed and public policy implications were suggested to the provincial government.

The Effect of Two-Dimensional Factor on Municipal Civil Servants’ Job Satisfaction and Public Policy Implications

Nguyen Ngoc Duy Phuong,Mai Ngoc Khuong,Le Huu Phuc,Le Nguyen Thanh Dong 한국유통과학회 2018 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.5 No.3

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of two-dimensional factor of motivators and hygiene on civil servants’ job satisfaction using the partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) as a technique employed to analyze the measurement and structural models. Exploratory study was deployed to evaluate the relationship among variables. Based on the empirical results, the hygiene factors of job satisfaction are more dominated that the motivators one. This finding suggests that municipal governments should focus policies on improving the hygiene factors which lead to higher job satisfaction on civil servants. Gaining a thorough understanding of the determinants of job satisfaction toward municipal public servants will enable policy makers to grasp the factors that results in retaining employees. Finally, the policy makers can use this knowledge to promote civil servants’ job satisfaction.

Phenothiazine Derivative as Organic Photocatalyst for Metal Free Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization

        Hoan Minh Tran,Lan Ngoc Tan Phan,Thang Van Le,Thuy Thuy Truong,Tam Huu Nguyen,Khuong Tung Truong,Le-Thu T. Nguyen,Mai Thanh Phong,Ha Tran Nguyen 한국고분자학회 2019 폴리머 Vol.43 No.4

A novel organic photocatalyst, 4-(10H-phenothiazin-10-yl)-N,N-diphenylaniline (PDPA) has been successfully synthesized from triphenylamine and phenothiazine moiety via Buchwald-Hartwig C-N coupling. The chemical structure of catalyst was characterized via proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) and the optical properties were investigated via UV-vis spectroscopy. The PDPA has been applied as an organic photocatalyst for metal free atom transfer radical polymerization (O-ATRP). The well-controlled molecular weights of polymethacrylates have been obtained with high yield of 95% and narrow polydispersity index (Đ).

Personality Traits, Perceived Risk, Uncertainty, and Investment Performance in Vietnam

Phung Thai Minh Trang,Mai Ngoc Khuong People&Global Business Association 2017 Global Business and Finance Review Vol.22 No.1

The study explored the impact of personality traits, perceived risk, and perceived uncertainty on investment performance of individual investors trading on the Vietnam stock market. The study conducted in-depth interviews, a pilot study, and a survey distributed to 430 individual investors. Results showed that Conscientiousness and perceived uncertainty directly affected investment performance. Openness, Extraversion, and Neuroticism indirectly influenced investment performance through the mediation of perceived uncertainty. This study suggested that individual investors should perceive uncertain situations when they invest in securities. Especially, investors who are prone to Openness, Extraversion, and Neuroticism must pay attention to uncertainty before they make investing decisions. Since Agreeableness did not affect investment performance, those who are dominant to this trait should have prudent considerations for equity investment decisions.
