The Impact of Income Inequality on Economic Growth: Empirical Evidence from Vietnam

Luong Quang HIEN 한국유통과학회 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.2

Each country’s economic progress creates opportunities for its citizens to raise their income. Meanwhile, the country has secured the people’s social security policies, particularly the protection of income equality, to promote harmonious and sustained economic development. Vietnam has been located in a dynamic economic development area in Southeast Asia since the 1986 economic reforms, with an annual growth rate of around 7%. Meanwhile, having achieved a middle-income status of roughly 3500 USD per person per year, Vietnam is attempting to maintain income equality and access to welfare systems for its inhabitants. As a result, the primary goal of this study is to use an autoregressive distributed lagged model to investigate the effects of income inequality and other economic factors such as foreign direct investment and trade openness on Vietnam’s economic growth from 1992 to 2019. The research focuses attention on literature on income inequality, economic development indicators, and economic development in unique ways in this study. Income inequality slows the rate of change in economic development in the same year, according to our findings. Finally, the study will make policy suggestions to the Vietnamese government.

An approach for multi-patch surface modification with a curve constraint satisfying convergent G1 continuity

        Luong Quang-Phap,Nam Jong-Ho,Le Tat-Hien 한국CDE학회 2022 Journal of computational design and engineering Vol.9 No.5

Conceptual shape design plays a critical role in determining the appearance and functionality of a product. Currently, computer-aided design systems can represent a complex shape through multiple surface patches; however, the methods used for multi-patch surface modification are still limited and counterintuitive. There is an ongoing need for more intuitive and efficient surface modification tools that allow designers to directly control shape changes through specific constraints while maintaining surface quality. In this paper, we propose an intuitive modification approach based on the designer’s activity to interactively manipulate a multi-patch surface with an arbitrary curve constraint with tangent continuity (G1) across connected B-spline patches. The advantages of the curve and surface superposition were used to change the shape of the surface. The first step was a shape-control mechanism that used shape functions to control the deformation of a superposed surface. A fine-tuning step was followed to ensure the aesthetic requirements and quality of the surface by achieving convergent G1 continuity in a linear manner. The efficiency and practicality of the proposed approach have been verified using application examples. The proposed approach can be applied to modify surfaces used in the design of a complex geometric model.

Herding Behavior in Emerging and Frontier Stock Markets During Pandemic Influenza Panics

LUU, Quang Thu,LUONG, Hien Thi Thu Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.9

We apply Return Dispersion Model by calculating CSAD (Cross-sectional standard deviation of return) and State Space Model to identify herding behavior in the period of pandemic (H1N1 and COVID-19). Employing data from TEJ and Data Stream, this paper examines whether the herding behavior is existing in Vietnam and Taiwan stock market, especially during pandemic influenza. We compare the differences in herding behavior between frontier and emerging markets by examining different industries across Vietnam and Taiwan stock market approaches. The results indicate solid evidence for investor herd configuration in the various industries of Vietnam and Taiwan. The herding impact in the industries will be greater than with the aggregate market. The different industries respond differently to influenza pandemic panics through uptrend and downtrend demonstrations. Up to 12 industries were found to have herding in Vietnam, while Taiwan had only 5 of 17 industries classified. Taiwan market, an emerging and herding-level market, has changed due to the impact of changing conditions such as epidemics, but not as strongly as in Vietnam. From there, we see that the disease is a factor that, not only creates anxiety from a health perspective, but also causes psychological instability for investors when investing in the market.
