      • Feature-preserving, Adaptive and Anisotropic Smoothing Algorithm for Triangular Mesh Models

        Liu Xu-min,Yang Li-xin,Li Cai-ling 보안공학연구지원센터 2014 International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Vol.9 No.11

Despite the great success in smoothing of triangular mesh, the classical methods mostly require human interactions. In order to reduce the parameter settings, an adaptive and anisotropic smoothing algorithm for removing noise and preserving features of triangular mesh model was proposed. First calculate the expected normal vector of the model triangles, the expected normal vector should be an accurate representation of the desired movement direction and be similar to the original surface normal vector, and then we compute the value of the offset value. We develop an adaptive coefficient scheme which can avoid the parameter settings to obtain the coefficient value for each vertex. Finally, we updated every vertex’s position of the model by formula. Experimental results show that the algorithm can be adaptive to preserve sharp features and avoid shrinkages by comparing with classical methods.

Bacterial Community Structure and Function Shift in Rhizosphere Soil of Tobacco Plants Infected by Meloidogyne incognita

        Wenjie Tong(Wenjie Tong),Junying Li(Junying Li),Wenfeng Cong(Wenfeng Cong),Cuiping Zhang(Cuiping Zhang),Zhaoli Xu(Zhaoli Xu),Xiaolong Chen(Xiaolong Chen),Min Yang(Min Yang),Jiani Liu(Jiani Liu),Lei Yu 한국식물병리학회 2022 Plant Pathology Journal Vol.38 No.6

Root-knot nematode disease is a widespread and catastrophic disease of tobacco. However, little is known about the relationship between rhizosphere bacterial community and root-knot nematode disease. This study used 16S rRNA gene sequencing and PICRUSt to assess bacterial community structure and function changes in rhizosphere soil from Meloidogyne incognita-infected tobacco plants. We studied the rhizosphere bacterial community structure of M. incognita-infected and uninfected tobacco plants through a paired comparison design in two regions of tobacco planting area, Yuxi and Jiuxiang of Yunnan Province, southwest China. According to the findings, M. incognita infection can alter the bacterial population in the soil. Uninfested soil has more operational taxonomic unit numbers and richness than infested soil. Principal Coordinate Analysis revealed clear separations between bacterial communities from infested and uninfested soil, indicating that different infection conditions resulted in significantly different bacterial community structures in soils. Firmicutes was prevalent in infested soil, but Chloroflexi and Acidobacteria were prevalent in uninfested soil. Sphingomonas, Streptomyces, and Bradyrhizobium were the dominant bacteria genera, and their abundance were higher in infested soil. By PICRUSt analysis, some metabolism-related functions and signal transduction functions of the rhizosphere bacterial community in the M. incognita infection-tobacco plants had a higher relative abundance than those uninfected. As a result, rhizosphere soils from tobacco plants infected with M. incognita showed considerable bacterial community structure and function alterations.

      • Self-assembly and sensing-group graft of pre-modified CNTs on resonant micro-cantilevers for specific detection of volatile organic compound vapors

        Xu, Pengcheng,Li, Xinxin,Yu, Haitao,Liu, Min,Li, Jungang IOP 2010 JOURNAL OF MICROMECHANICS AND MICROENGINEERING - Vol.20 No.11

<P>This paper reports MWCNT (multi-wall carbon nano-tube)-modified resonant micro-cantilever chemical sensors for detection of trinitrotoluene (TNT) vapor. The MWCNTs are pre-modified and then area-selectively self-assembled at the free-end gold pad of a micro-cantilever, in which a resonance-exciting heater and a signal-readout piezoresistive Wheatstone bridge are integrated. Featuring a high specific surface area, the MWCNTs are further functionalized with TNT-sensitive groups by grafting onto the sidewalls of the MWCNTs. To lower the non-specific absorption of water and other small organic molecules, the SiO2 surface of the micro-cantilever was also pre-treated for hydrophobicity and oleophobicity by self-assembling a monolayer of heptadecafluorodecyltrimethoxysilane. The results of our sensing experiments have shown a capability to rapidly detect ppb-level TNT vapor, and a high specificity of the functionalized groups to TNT molecules. The experiment has also confirmed a good long-term stability in detecting sensitivity.</P>

The effects of paeoniflorin injection on soluble triggering receptor expressed on myeloid-1 (sTREM-1) levels in severe septic rats

        Liu, Xiao-Rong,Xu, Jie,Wang, Yi-Min,Ji, Ming-Suo,Liu, Fu-Shan The Korean Society of Pharmacology 2016 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology Vol.20 No.6

Paeoniflorin (PAE) is the most abundant compound in Xuebijing injection widely used to treat sepsis. We aimed to investigate effect of PAE on expression of soluble triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1 (sTREM-1) in a rat model of sepsis. Wistar rats were divided into Normal, Model, and PAE groups (n=20 each). Endotoxin was administrated at 5 mg/ml/kg in Model and PAE rats to establish rat sepsis model. 1 h after endotoxin administration, PAE was administrated at 4 ml/kg in PAE group once per day for 3 days. Routine blood tests and biochemical indexes were assessed, including aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB). The plasma sTREM-1 level was measured using quantitative ELISA. At the end of experiment, the small intestine, liver, kidney and lung were subjected to pathological examinations. A rat model of sepsis-induced multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) was established successfully with endotoxin administration (5 mg/ml/kg), evidenced by histo-pathological examinations, routine blood tests and biochemical indexes: platelet count decreased and white blood cell count increased (p<0.05), CK-MB and AST increased (p<0.05). PAE treatment significantly reduced the plasma levels of AST, CK-MB, and sTREM-1, compared to Model group (p<0.05). Meanwhile, sepsis-induced damages in the liver, lung, stomach and intestinal mucosa were also markedly ameliorated by PAE treatment. PAE demonstrated a significantly protective effect in a rat model of sepsis by decreasing plasma sTREM-1 level, reducing inflammation, preventing MODS and protecting organ functions.

SiC particulate reinforced aluminum matrix composite coatings prepared by laser powder deposition

        Xu Xiang-yang,Han Jian-min,Li Wei-jing,Liu Yuan-fu,Liu Long-mei 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2006 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.7 No.2

A SiC particulate reinforced aluminum matrix composite coatings for wear resistance improvement were investigated. Laser powder deposition processing was optimized, the microstructure of the coatings was analyzed, and the wear resistance of the coatings was evaluated. Under optimized processing, a laser powder deposited coating is free of cracks and porosity. SiC particles were uniformly distributed in the coating and well bonded with the matrix. A laser powder deposited coating consists of α-Al, SiC, Al4C3, Si and Al2O3 phases. Due to formation of Al4C3 and Si phases and crystal grain refinement, the wear resistance of laser powder deposited coatings was increased 2.06-3.76 times that of the aluminum alloy substrate based on the high hardness and deformation resistance of the SiC particles.

      • Sulfur–Graphene Nanostructured Cathodes <i>via</i> Ball-Milling for High-Performance Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

        Xu, Jiantie,Shui, Jianglan,Wang, Jianli,Wang, Min,Liu, Hua-Kun,Dou, Shi Xue,Jeon, In-Yup,Seo, Jeong-Min,Baek, Jong-Beom,Dai, Liming American Chemical Society 2014 ACS NANO Vol.8 No.10

<P>Although much progress has been made to develop high-performance lithium–sulfur batteries (LSBs), the reported physical or chemical routes to sulfur cathode materials are often multistep/complex and even involve environmentally hazardous reagents, and hence are infeasible for mass production. Here, we report a simple ball-milling technique to combine both the physical and chemical routes into a one-step process for low-cost, scalable, and eco-friendly production of graphene nanoplatelets (GnPs) edge-functionalized with sulfur (S-GnPs) as highly efficient LSB cathode materials of practical significance. LSBs based on the S-GnP cathode materials, produced by ball-milling 70 wt % sulfur and 30 wt % graphite, delivered a high initial reversible capacity of 1265.3 mAh g–1 at 0.1 C in the voltage range of 1.5–3.0 V with an excellent rate capability, followed by a high reversible capacity of 966.1 mAh g–1 at 2 C with a low capacity decay rate of 0.099% per cycle over 500 cycles, outperformed the current state-of-the-art cathode materials for LSBs. The observed excellent electrochemical performance can be attributed to a 3D “sandwich-like” structure of S-GnPs with an enhanced ionic conductivity and lithium insertion/extraction capacity during the discharge–charge process. Furthermore, a low-cost porous carbon paper pyrolyzed from common filter paper was inserted between the 0.7S-0.3GnP electrode and porous polypropylene film separator to reduce/eliminate the dissolution of physically adsorbed polysulfide into the electrolyte and subsequent cross-deposition on the anode, leading to further improved capacity and cycling stability.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/ancac3/2014/ancac3.2014.8.issue-10/nn5047585/production/images/medium/nn-2014-047585_0007.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nn5047585'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

      • Tanshinone IIA Reverses the Malignant Phenotype of SGC7901 Gastric Cancer Cells

        Xu, Min,Cao, Fa-Le,Li, Nai-Yi,Liu, Yong-Qiang,Li, Yan-Peng,Lv, Chun-Lei Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.1

Backgrounds: Tanshinone IIA (TIIA), a phenanthrenequinone derivative extracted from Salvia miltiorrhiza BUNGE, has been reported to be a natural anti-cancer agent in a variety of tumor cells. However, the effect of TIIA on gastric cancer cells remains unknown. In the present study, we investigated the influence of TIIA on the malignant phenotype of SGC7901 gastric cancer cells. Methods: Cells cultured in vitro were treated with TIIA (0, 1, 5, $10{\mu}g/ml$) and after incubation for different periods, cell proliferation was measured by MTT method and cell apoptosis and cell cycling were assessed by flow cytometry (FCM). The sensitivity of SGC7901 gastric cancer cells to anticancer chemotherapy was investigated with the MTT method, while cell migration and invasion were examined by wound-healing and transwell assays, respectively. Results: TIIA (1, 5, $10{\mu}g/ml$) exerted powerful inhibitory effects on cell proliferation (P < 0.05, and P < 0.01), and this effect was time- and dose-dependent. FCM results showed that TIIA induced apoptosis of SGC7901 cells, reduced the number of cells in S phase and increased those in G0/G1 phase. TIIA also significantly increased the sensitivity of SGC7901 gastric cancer cells to ADR and Fu. Moreover, wound-healing and transwell assays showed that TIIA markedly decreased migratory and invasive abilities of SGC7901 cells. Conclusions: TIIA can reverse the malignant phenotype of SGC7901 gastric cancer cells, indicating that it may be a promising therapeutic agent.

ON FIXED POINT OF UNIFORMLY PSEUDO-CONTRACTIVE OPERATOR AND SOLUTION OF EQUATION WITH UNIFORMLY ACCRETIVE OPERATOR

Xu, Yuguang,Liu, Zeqing,Kang, Shin-Min The Youngnam Mathematical Society Korea 2008 East Asian mathematical journal Vol.24 No.3

The purpose of this paper is to study the existence and uniqueness of the fixed point of uniformly pseudo-contractive operator and the solution of equation with uniformly accretive operator, and to approximate the fixed point and the solution by the Mann iterative sequence in an arbitrary Banach space or an uniformly smooth Banach space respectively. The results presented in this paper show that if X is a real Banach space and A : X $\rightarrow$ X is an uniformly accretive operator and (I-A)X is bounded then A is a mapping onto X when A is continuous or $X^*$ is uniformly convex and A is demicontinuous. Consequently, the corresponding results which depend on the assumptions that the fixed point of operator and solution of the equation are in existence are improved.

An intelligent hybrid methodology of on-line system-level fault diagnosis for nuclear power plant

        Min-jun Peng,Hang Wang,Shan-shan Chen,Genglei Xia,Yong-kuo Liu,Xu Yang,Abiodun Ayodeji 한국원자력학회 2018 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.50 No.3

To assist operators to properly assess the current situation of the plant, accurate fault diagnosis methodologyshould be available and used. A reliable fault diagnosis method is beneficial for the safety ofnuclear power plants. The major idea proposed in this work is integrating the merits of different faultdiagnosis methodologies to offset their obvious disadvantages and enhance the accuracy and credibilityof on-line fault diagnosis. This methodology uses the principle component analysis-based model andmulti-flow model to diagnose fault type. To ensure the accuracy of results from the multi-flow model, amechanical simulation model is implemented to do the quantitative calculation. More significantly, mechanism simulation is implemented to provide training data with fault signatures. Furthermore, oneof the distance formulas in similarity measurementdMahalanobis distancedis applied for on-line failuredegree evaluation. The performance of this methodology was evaluated by applying it to the reactorcoolant system of a pressurized water reactor. The results of simulation analysis show the effectivenessand accuracy of this methodology, leading to better confidence of it being integrated as a part of thecomputerized operator support system to assist operators in decision-making.
