Genetic Variants in Interleukin-2 and Risk of Lymphoma among Children in Korea
Song, Nan,Han, So-Hee,Lee, Kyoung-Mu,Choi, Ji-Yeob,Park, Sue-K,Jeon, Su-Jee,Lee, Yun-Hee,Ahn, Hyo-Seop,Shin, Hee-Young,Kang, Hyoung-Jin,Koo, Hong-Hoe,Seo, Jong-Jin,Choi, Ji-Eun,Kang, Dae-Hee Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.2
To estimate the genetic susceptibility for childhood lymphoma, we conducted an association study for 23 cases and 148 controls. Total 1536 tag single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were selected in 138 candidate gene regions related to immune responses, apoptosis, the cell cycle, and DNA repair. Twelve SNPs were significantly associated with the risk of lymphoma ($P_{trend}$ <0.05) in six genes ($IL1RN$, $IL2$, $IL12RB1$, $JAK3$, $TNFRSF13B$, and $XRCC3$). The most significant association was seen for $IL2$ variant rs2069762 ($OR_{TG+GG}$ vs. TT=3.43 (1.29-9.11), $P_{trend}$=0.002, min$P$=0.005). These findings suggest that common genetic variants in $IL2$ might play a role in the pathogenesis of childhood lymphoma.
Chondroblastoma : MR Characteristics with Pathologic Correlation
Jee, Won-Hee,Park, Yong-Koo,McCauly, Thomas R.,Choi, Kyu-Ho,Ryu, Kyung-Nam,Suh, Jin-Suck,Cho, Jae-Hyun,Lee, Jeong-Hoon,park, Jung-Mi,Lee, Youn-Soo,Ok, In-Young,Kim, Jung-Man 가톨릭대학교 2000 Bulletin of The Catholic Research Institutes of Me Vol.28 No.-
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to describe the MR findings of chondroblastoma with pathologic correlation. Method : In 22 patients with pathologically proven chondroblastoma, MR signal characteristics were correlated with pathological findings. Results : On T2-weighted images, 12 (55%) lesions were hyperintense with hypointense areas in 9 lesions, whereas 10 (45%) were hypointense. Therfore, 19 of 22 (86%) lesions with pathologic correlation had hypointenes areas entirely (n=10) or partly (n=9) on T2-weighted images On gadolinium-enhanced images, 13 (59%) lesions showed lobular enhancement and 9 (41%) showed marginal and septal enhancement. Low signal intensity on T2-weighted MR images was most strongly associated with an abundance of immature chondroid matrix, hypercellularity of the chondroblasts, calcifications, and hemosiderin on histology. Conclusion : Chondroblastoma was found to show hypointense portions on T2-weighted images. Signal intensity on T1- and T2-weighted MR images in chondroblastoma was dependent on the amounts of histopathological components. (Jornal of Computer Assisted Tomography 23(5):781-726, 1999)
Cell Yield of Cerebrospinal Fluid Cell Count Using Cytocentrifuges
Koo, Bon-Kyung,Shim, Hyun-Seol,Oh, Jung-A,Lee, Yong-Tag,Choi, Dae-Yong,Lee, Beom-Se,Kim, Eun-Jee,Lee, Seung-Tae,Kim, Sun-Hee 대한임상검사과학회 2013 대한임상검사과학회지(KJCLS) Vol.45 No.1
The cells are concentrated approximately 20-fold by cytocentrifugation. This study evaluated the nucleated cell number for cells recovered on slide by using Cytospin-3 (Thermo Shandon Ltd. UK) and Cytopro-7620 (Wescor Inc., USA) cytocentrifuges to hematocytometer cell count of $0{\sim}5WBCs/{\mu}L$ of hematocytometer in the cerebrospinal fluid cell count. One hundred forty eight samples of $0{\sim}5WBCs/{\mu}L$ on hematocytometer, were cytocentrifuged by Cytospin-3 and Cytopro-7620 instruments. The nucleated cell number for cells recovered on slide was counted after Wright stain. The nucleated cell number for cells recovered on slide was 0~40 cells in the 44 samples of $0WBC/{\mu}L$, and 3~95 cells in the 31 samples of $1WBC/{\mu}L$. It was observed that the nucleated cell number for cells recovered on slide was 13~100 cells in the 44 samples of $2WBCs/{\mu}L$, and more than 100 cells in the 29 samples of $3{\sim}5WBCs/{\mu}L$, respectively. In addition, extremely normal lymphocyte, monocyte and polymorphonuclear neutrophil were observed in the 143 samples of $0{\sim}5WBCs/{\mu}L$. Macrophage and eosinophil were also rarely observed. The nucleated cell number for cells recovered on slide was 20 cells, which were regarded as $1WBC/{\mu}L$ in body fluid cell count. However, in this study, we made alterations to report nucleated cell percentage as 0% without preparing the cytocentrifuged slide at $0WBC/{\mu}L$ by using the cell yield in a comparison between the value of $0{\sim}5WBCs/{\mu}L$ and nucleated cell number for cells recovered on slide.
중환자실 환자의 사망 관련 요인에 관한 연구 : APACHE Ⅲ 도구를 중심으로
구미지,김명희 성인간호학회 2002 성인간호학회지 Vol.14 No.1
Using the APCHE III tool, this study was about the factors related to the death of ICU-patients. From 1999.12. 1 to 2000. 9. 30. the 284 patients admitted to ICU at P university who were over 15 years of age were selected for the subjets. The data was analyzed through SPSS WIN program for frequency, percentile, x^²-test, t-test and logistic regression. The results are summarized as follows: 1) Of the 284 patients, 88died. The mortality is 31.0 percent. The average APACHE III point was 48.62±32.32. The average point of non-survivors was higher than that of survivors. 2) There are the significant difference between APACHE III marks and mortality. The mortality rate were over 50 percent 60 points of the mark. When the marks were over 100 points, the mortality were over 90 percent. Below 40 points, the mortality was below 10 percent. Among the variables in the APACHE III, the most significant variables in explaining death were neurologic abnormalities, pulse, PaO_2/AaDO2, creatinine, sodium, glucose, chronic health state and age. According to the variables, the models explained the 42.43 percent of the variance in patient's death. In conclusion, the APACHE III tool can be used to predict the progress of ICU patients, and can also be used for the selection of patients for ICU admission/discharge criteria.
