Analysis of Consumer Preferences for Electric Vehicles

<P>Due to the recent global trend toward stricter restrictions on both greenhouse gases emission and energy consumption, there is an emerging attention on electric vehicles (EVs). It is anticipated that proliferation of EV will be expanded rapidly in the near future. Accordingly, there is a need to analyze the consumer preferences for the EVs as the basic data for developing the relevant industries' strategies in the newly emerging market of EVs or establishing the government policies to popularize EVs. This paper analyzes the consumer preferences for the EV on the basis of the stated preference data from consumers in Korea. A conjoint method and a mixed logit model using the Bayesian approach were used to estimate the preferences of consumers. The stated preference data of the conjoint method is collected through a face-to-face survey conducted in June 2009. The consumer preferences on the key attributes that affect the choices of EV are estimated by a mixed logit model. Marginal willingness to pay is calculated to quantitatively analyze the consumer preferences on the key attributes. The results of this paper show that the consumers have greater preference for EV with swappable battery rather than unswappable battery, and for lump-sum payment rather than installment of the subsidies.</P>

임베디드 시스템 분야가 발전하면서 하드웨어와 소프트웨어의 복잡도가 증가하고 또한 응용프로그램들의 요구사항이 점차 다양해짐에 따라 기존의 범용 운영체제에서 모든 작업을 처리하는 방법은 시스템의 신뢰성과 안정성을 떨어뜨리게 된다. 이를 해결하기 위해 응용프로그램 특성에 맞는 운영체제가 동작할 수 있는 다중 운영체제 플랫폼을 구성하는 것이 임베디드 시스템의 가상화 기술이며 시스템의 안정성과 신뢰성을 증진시키는 목적으로 사용한다. 본 논문은 가상화 기술을 임베디드 시스템에 적용하고 가상화 기술에 알맞은 디바이스 드라이버를 작성하고 이에 대한 성능을 측정, 평가한다.
Study of a Hybrid Magnet Array for an Electrodynamic Maglev Control

This paper introduces an innovative hybrid array consisting of both permanent and electro magnets. It will enable us to develop an active control mechanism for underdamped electro-dynamic suspension (EDS) Maglev systems. The proposed scheme is based on the Halbach array configuration which takes the major technical advantage from the original Halbach characteristics: a strongly concentrated magnetic field on one side of the array and a cancelled field on the opposite side. In addition, the unique feature of the proposed concept only differs from the Halbach array with permanent magnets. The total magnetic field of the array can be actively controlled through the current of the electro-magnet’s coils. As a result, the magnetic force produced by the proposed hybrid array can also be controlled actively. This study focuses on the magnetic characteristics and capability of the proposed array as compared to the basic Halbach concept. The results show that the proposed array is capable of producing not only an equivalent suspension force of the basic Halbach permanent magnet array but also a controlled mode. Consequently, the effectiveness of the proposed array confirms that this study can be used as a technical framework to develop an active control mechanism for an EDS Maglev system.
확장성표기언어 기반의 LED 조광제어 플랫폼에 관한 연구

In the study, an XML based platform is presented for LED dimming control. The XML platform is designed in an open architecture, providing with interoperability and scalability. Also, it enables the accommodation of off-the-shelf wired and wireless communication protocols and make it fast and easy to implement various application programs for LED dimming, comparing to the legacy platforms. In the study, a test best has been built for demonstration of the merits of the XML platform with dimming control by responding to the scenario of demand response event. Benefit calculation of the power saving and incentive from demand response shows the applicability and usefulness of the XML platform.
Design of Time-Varying Rate Considering CO<tex> $_2$</tex> Emission

<P>Under fixed retail rates, electricity demands have no incentive to change their usage pattern. In contrast, under time-varying rates, suppliers can reflect the actual supply cost during the peak hours in retail prices enabling end-users to respond to the prices and reduce their loads or shift their loads from the high-price hours to the low-price hours. Load shifting may increase the reliability of the system, but may increase CO<SUB>2</SUB> emission if coal-fired generators are the marginal generator used during the low- price hours. CO<SUB>2</SUB> emission taxation is one of ISO's options to deal with the CO<SUB>2</SUB> emission problem. In this paper, a new time-varying rate design method considering the CO<SUB>2</SUB> emission taxation is suggested. In addition, market power problem and non-shifting elastic loads are considered. The suggested method is applied to a test market with critical peak pricing (CPP) and real-time pricing (RTP) and the results are analyzed. Also the suggested method is applied to the Korean power system and the results are analyzed.</P>

본 논문에서는, 제주지역 전력계통에 설치되는 배터리 저장장치의 최적용량을 산정하였다. 본 논문에서 검토한 내용은, 제주지역의 ’06~’07년도 실제 전력사용데이터를 바탕으로 ’06~’16년도까지의 전력사용량을 추정한 후, 4차 전력수급계획에 따른 전력설비 증감계획데이터를 사용, 최대전력저감, 전력량 요금저감, 정전발생비용저감, 3가지 측면에서 배터리 저장장치의 용량별 얻을 수 있는 이득을 계산하고, 최적용량을 제시하였다. In this Paper, optimal capacity of battery storage in Je-Ju is calculated. First, Electricity demand data of Je-Ju(’06~’16) is estimated based on real electricity demand data of Je-Ju(’06~’07). Then, the 4th power supply planning is used to calculate benefits from battery storage capacity in view of maximum power savings, preventing outages savings and energy charge fee reduction. Finally, optimal battery storage capacity is suggested.

<P>Bottom-contact bottom-gate organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) are fabricated using a low band gap pDTTDPP-DT polymer as a channel material and single-layer graphene (SLG) or Au source/drain electrodes. The SLG-based ambipolar OFETs significantly outperform the Au-based ambipolar OFETs, and thermal annealing effectively improves the carrier mobilities of the pDTTDPP-DT films. The difference is attributed to the following facts: (i) the thermally annealed pDTTDPP-DT chains on the SLG assume more crystalline features with an edge-on orientation as compared to the polymer chains on the Au, (ii) the morphological features of the thermally annealed pDTTDPP-DT films on the SLG electrodes are closer to the features of those on the gate dielectric layer, and (iii) the SLG electrode provides a flatter, more hydrophobic surface that is favorable for the polymer crystallization than the Au. In addition, the preferred carrier transport in each electrode-based OFET is associated with the HOMO/LUMO alignment relative to the Fermi level of the employed electrode. All of these experimental results consistently explain why the carrier mobilities of the SLG-based OFET are more than 10 times higher than those of the Au-based OTFT.
