What’s Next? Connecting the Past and Future of Business-IT Alignment Research
Joshy K. X.,Rahul Thakurta 한국경영정보학회 2022 Asia Pacific Journal of Information Systems Vol.32 No.2
The importance of Business-IT alignment has been well emphasized, and the topic has been a top management concern for the past four decades. The current business environment demands in response to digitalization have made Business-IT alignment even more challenging. We take on the challenge in this research by presenting a comprehensive review of the domain of Business-IT alignment, based on a conceptual model which we propose, to facilitate future theoretical work. The review brought out multiple representations of the concept of Business-IT alignment and the characterization of its antecedents, nature, and outcomes. Based on the treatment of the domain in the extant literature, we chart out possible areas of future explorations. By doing so, this research lays a f
A Comparison and Contrast of the Various Feature Extraction Techniques in Speaker Recognition
Jaison Joshy,Koj Sambyo 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.9 No.11
Speaker Recognition and Verification is becoming one of the widely used forms of biometric authentication in today’s scenario where remembering strings of textual passwords and numbers are becoming a hassle. Authentication of users using voice offers many advantages and easy to use techniques. In this paper a comparison is drawn among the most commonly used feature extraction techniques in Speaker Recognition and Verification. Extracting useful and unique features from the user’s voice forms the backbone of an efficient Speaker Recognition System. Here, the most commonly used methods for Feature Extraction viz. MFCC (Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient), LPC (Linear Predictive Coefficient), PLP (Perceptual Linear Prediction) are discussed, compared and an attempt is made to deduce which one performs best.
In vitro sustained release of amoxicillin from lanthanum hydroxyapatite nano rods

Nano rods (∼100 nm) of pure hydroxyapatite [Ca_10(PO_4)_6(OH)_2)-HAp] and lanthanum doped HAp was synthesized by sol-gel route using calcium nitrate and diammonium hydrogen phosphate as precursors. The samples were without La_2O_3 or β-TCP phases, which were present in samples prepared by solid state and co-precipitation technique. Increase in the concentration of lanthanum lead to the enhancement of crystallinity and crystallite size. In addition, increase in specific surface area (31%) and hardness (14%)was observed in doped samples. The studies using PBS revealed a decrease in the dissolution of the samples as the dopant concentration increased. Further, the doping extended the amoxicillin release from the samples. Bactericidal effect against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria indicated high antimicrobial resistant activity of these samples.

Objective: To assess the diagnostic performance of a deep learning-based algorithm for automated detection of acute and chronic rib fractures on whole-body trauma CT. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively identified all whole-body trauma CT scans referred from the emergency department of our hospital from January to December 2018 (n = 511). Scans were categorized as positive (n = 159) or negative (n = 352) for rib fractures according to the clinically approved written CT reports, which served as the index test. The bone kernel series (1.5-mm slice thickness) served as an input for a detection prototype algorithm trained to detect both acute and chronic rib fractures based on a deep convolutional neural network. It had previously been trained on an independent sample from eight other institutions (n = 11455). Results: All CTs except one were successfully processed (510/511). The algorithm achieved a sensitivity of 87.4% and specificity of 91.5% on a per-examination level [per CT scan: rib fracture(s): yes/no]. There were 0.16 false-positives per examination (= 81/510). On a per-finding level, there were 587 true-positive findings (sensitivity: 65.7%) and 307 false-negatives. Furthermore, 97 true rib fractures were detected that were not mentioned in the written CT reports. A major factor associated with correct detection was displacement. Conclusion: We found good performance of a deep learning-based prototype algorithm detecting rib fractures on trauma CT on a per-examination level at a low rate of false-positives per case. A potential area for clinical application is its use as a screening tool to avoid false-negative radiology reports.

<B>Abstract</B><P>The lowland area of southern Vietnam contains a high diversity of corticolous, crustose lichens, particularly in the family <I>Graphidaceae</I>. Two species, <I>Acanthothecis verrucosa</I> S. Joshi, Upreti & Hur and <I>Graphis exuta</I> S. Joshi, Upreti & Hur, are described new to science. <I>Acanthothecis verrucosa</I> is characterized by a verrucose, olive green thallus containing irregular to shortly lirellate apothecia, hyaline to brownish proper exciple apically lined by robust periphysoids, muriform ascospores, 30-70 × 15-20 μm, and the presence of psoromic and subpsoromic acids. <I>Graphis exuta</I> is characterized by a smooth, greenish white thallus, simple lirellae lacking thalline margin, entire labia coarsely white pruinose towards slit, muriform ascospores, 20-35×10-13 μm, and norstictic acid in the thallus. A new name, <I>Acanthothecis yokdonensis</I> S. Joshi & Hur, is proposed here for the species <I>Acanthothecis salazinica</I> S. Joshi & Hur, a later homonym of <I>A. salazinica</I> van den Boom & Sipman. In addition, 34 species from Vietnam are newly reported. A world key to the group of <I>Graphis</I> species characterized by short, simple and sessile lirellae lacking or with basal thalline margins (<I>nuda</I>-morph) is presented.</P>

<B>Abstract</B><P>Eleven species are recognized of which <I>C. bogilana</I> and <I>C. subflavorubescens</I> are described here as new to science while nine species (<I>C. cinnabarina</I>, <I>C. decipiens</I>, <I>C. ferruginea</I>, <I>C. inconspecta</I>, <I>C. pellodella</I>, <I>C. scopularis</I>, <I>C. stantonii</I>, <I>C. squamosa</I> and <I>C. subsoluta</I>) are reported for the first time for South Korea. Both new species are peculiar due to their secondary chemistry; anthraquinones along with atranorin, gyrophoric acid and lecanoric acid in <I>C. bogilana</I>, and gyrophoric acid together with anthraquinones in <I>C. subflavorubescens</I>.</P>
