Spillover Effects of US Monetary Policy on Asian Countries

        Jianping Ding,Wei Ye,Yang Wu 한국APEC학회 2017 Journal of APEC Studies Vol.9 No.2

Ever since the global financial crises of 1997 and 2008, the recurrence of crises ledus evaluate the spillover effects of US monetary policy on Asian economies (Jan. 2005 - June 2017). This study makes precise use of various monetary policies (interest rate, money supply, exchange rate, and capital account) from the United States to different blocs (ASEAN, South Asian economies, and North Asia) and their spillover effects on the corresponding variables. Panel Vector Autoregression (PVAR) was applied in the cases. The findings are as follows. First, USD exchange rate volatility affects all Asian economies, ASEAN in particular; however, it doesn’t hold for the North Asian economies. For the exchange rate via SDR standard, only the South Asian countries are subjected to dollar volatility. The Fed money supply is ranked second in spillover effects, especially for the South Asian economies. The Fed’s policy interest exerts an impact on ASEAN, Northeast Asia, and South Asian economies. However, the US capital account movement only affects the latter two. The reasons behind the various intensities of spillover effects are interpreted accordingly. Regional location and size of economy might serve as an explanation for the spillover.

Correlation analysis of muscle amino acid deposition and gut microbiota profile of broilers reared at different ambient temperatures

        Yang, Yuting,Gao, Huan,Li, Xing,Cao, Zhenhui,Li, Meiquan,Liu, Jianping,Qiao, Yingying,Ma, Li,Zhao, Zhiyong,Pan, Hongbin Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2021 Animal Bioscience Vol.34 No.1

Objective: Temperature could influence protein and amino acid deposition as well as gut microbiota profile and composition. However, the specific effects of ambient temperature on amino acids deposition and gut microbiota composition remain insufficiently understood. Methods: A total of 300 one-day-old Avian broilers were randomly divided into three groups and reared at high, medium, and low temperature (HT, MT, and LT), respectively. Breast muscle and fecal samples were collected for amino acid composition analysis and 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis. Results: Our data showed that compared to the MT group, there was a decrease of muscle leucine and tyrosine (p<0.05), as well as an increase of methionine in the HT group (p<0.05) and a decrease of serine in the LT group. Examination of microbiota shift revealed that at genus level, the relative abundance of Turicibacter and Parabacteroides was increased in the HT group (p<0.05) and that the relative abundances of Pandoraea, Achromobacter, Prevotella, Brevundimonas, and Stenotrophomonas in the LT group were higher than those in the MT group (p<0.05). In addition, there were substantial correlations between microbes and amino acids. In the HT group. Turicibacter was negatively correlated with aspartic acid and tyrosine, whereas Parabacteroides was positively correlated with methionine (p<0.05). In the LT group, there were multiple positive correlations between Achromobacter and arginine, isoleucine or tyrosine; between Prevotella and cysteine or phenylalanine; between Brevundimonas and cysteine; and between Stenotrophomonas and cysteine as well as a negative correlation between Stenotrophomonas and serine. Conclusion: Our findings demonstrated that amino acid content of breast muscle and intestinal microbiota profile was affected by different ambient temperatures. Under heat exposure, augmented abundance of Parabacteroides was correlated with elevated methionine. Low temperature treatment may affect muscle tyrosine content through the regulation of Achromobacter.

Review of researches on coupled system and CFD codes

Long, Jianping,Zhang, Bin,Yang, Bao-Wen,Wang, Sipeng Korean Nuclear Society 2021 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.53 No.9

At present, most of the widely used system codes for nuclear safety analysis are one-dimensional, which cannot effectively simulate the flow field of the reactor core or other structures. This is true even for the system codes containing three-dimensional modules with limited three-dimensional simulation function such as RELAP-3D. In contrast, the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) codes excel at providing a detailed three-dimensional flow field of the reactor core or other components; however, the computational domain is relatively small and results in the very high computing resource consuming. Therefore, the development of coupling codes, which can make comprehensive use of the advantages of system and CFD codes, has become a research focus. In this paper, a review focus on the researches of coupled CFD and thermal-hydraulic system codes was carried out, which summarized the method of coupling, the data transfer processing between CFD and system codes, and the verification and validation (V&V) of coupled codes. Furthermore, a series of problems associated with the coupling procedure have been identified, which provide the general direction for the development and V&V efforts of coupled codes.

Three dimensional reconstruction and measurement of underwater spent fuel assemblies

        Zhao Jianping,He Shengbo,Yang Li,Feng Chang,Wu Guoqiang,Cai Gen 한국원자력학회 2023 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.55 No.10

It is an important work to measure the dimensions of underwater spent fuel assemblies in the nuclear power industry during the overhaul, to judging whether the spent fuel assemblies can continue to be used. In this paper, a three dimensional reconstruction method for underwater spent fuel assemblies of nuclear reactor based on linear structured light is proposed, and the topography and size measurement was carried out based on the reconstructed 3D model. Multiple linear structured light sensors are used to obtain contour size data, and the shape data of the whole spent fuel assembly can be collected by onedimensional scanning motion. In this paper, we also presented a corrected model to correct the measurement error introduced by lead-glass and water is corrected. Then, we set up an underwater measurement system for spent fuel assembly based on this method. Finally, an underwater measurement experiment is carried out to verify the 3D reconstruction ability and measurement ability of the system, and the measurement error is less than ±0.05 mm.

The Development of Clinical Document Standards for Semantic Interoperability in China

        Peng Yang,Feng Pan,Danhong Liu,Yongyong Xu,Yi Wan,Haibo Tu,Xuejun Tang,Jianping Hu 대한의료정보학회 2011 Healthcare Informatics Research Vol.17 No.4

Objectives: This study is aimed at developing a set of data groups (DGs) to be employed as reusable building blocks for the construction of the eight most common clinical documents used in China’s general hospitals in order to achieve their structural and semantic standardization. Methods: The Diagnostics knowledge framework, the related approaches taken from the Health Level Seven (HL7), the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE), and the Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) and 1,487 original clinical records were considered together to form the DG architecture and data sets. The internal structure, content, and semantics of each DG were then defined by mapping each DG data set to a corresponding Clinical Document Architecture data element and matching each DG data set to the metadata in the Chinese National Health Data Dictionary. By using the DGs as reusable building blocks, standardized structures and semantics regarding the clinical documents for semantic interoperability were able to be constructed. Results: Altogether, 5 header DGs, 48 section DGs, and 17 entry DGs were developed. Several issues regarding the DGs, including their internal structure, identifiers, data set names, definitions, length and format, data types, and value sets, were further defined. Standardized structures and semantics regarding the eight clinical documents were structured by the DGs. Conclusions: This approach of constructing clinical document standards using DGs is a feasible standard-driven solution useful in preparing documents possessing semantic interoperability among the disparate information systems in China. These standards need to be validated and refined through further study.

Genome-wide association study reveals genetic loci and candidate genes for average daily gain in Duroc pigs

        Quan, Jianping,Ding, Rongrong,Wang, Xingwang,Yang, Ming,Yang, Yang,Zheng, Enqin,Gu, Ting,Cai, Gengyuan,Wu, Zhenfang,Liu, Dewu,Yang, Jie Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2018 Animal Bioscience Vol.31 No.4

Objective: Average daily gain (ADG) is an important target trait of pig breeding programs. We aimed to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and genomic regions that are associated with ADG in the Duroc pig population. Methods: We performed a genome-wide association study involving 390 Duroc boars and by using the PorcineSNP60K Beadchip and two linear models. Results: After quality control, we detected 3,5971 SNPs, which included seven SNPs that are significantly associated with the ADG of pigs. We identified six quantitative trait loci (QTL) regions for ADG. These QTLs included four previously reported QTLs on Sus scrofa chromosome (SSC) 1, SSC5, SSC9, and SSC13, as well as two novel QTLs on SSC6 and SSC16. In addition, we selected six candidate genes (general transcription factor 3C polypeptide 5, high mobility group AT-hook 2, nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase, oligodendrocyte transcription factor 1, pleckstrin homology and RhoGEF domain containing G4B, and ENSSSCG00000031548) associated with ADG on the basis of their physiological roles and positional information. These candidate genes are involved in skeletal muscle cell differentiation, diet-induced obesity, and nervous system development. Conclusion: This study contributes to the identification of the casual mutation that underlies QTLs associated with ADG and to future pig breeding programs based on marker-assisted selection. Further studies are needed to elucidate the role of the identified candidate genes in the physiological processes involved in ADG regulation.

      • A Digital Camouflage Generation Algorithm Using Color Similarity

Hengfu Yang,Jianping Yin 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Vol.10 No.6

A novel digital camouflage generation scheme based on color quantization is proposed. First, a color similarity measurement in RGB color space is presented by exploiting the similarity of two color vectors. Then main colors in the background of the host image are extracted by combining color similarity and color quantization. Finally, the camouflage image is generated by replacing target pixels with main background colors. Simulated experiments prove that the proposed algorithm can achieve full fusion of the target and the background, and the generated camouflage image has satisfactory visual quality.

Tissue-associated profiling of gene expression in the fifth-instar larvae of Chinese Oak Silkworm, Antheraea pernyi

        Duan Jianping,Liang Shimei,Zhu Zhenni,Yang Xinfeng,Li Ying,Xu Xin,Wang Jiazhen,Zhu Xuwei,Yao Lunguang 한국응용곤충학회 2023 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.26 No.2

Antheraea pernyi is an edible insect with important economic value in both traditional and non-traditional ap plications. Elucidating the details of gene expression variation among different A. pernyi larval tissues will greatly improve our knowledge about A. pernyi biology and promote its protection and breeding. Here, tissue-based transcriptome and gene co-expression network analysis were performed for the fifth-instar larval tissues of testis, midgut, Malpighian tubule, head, trachea, silk gland, integument, hemocyte, ovary, and fat body. A total of 1,991 tissue-associated genes, including 62 transcription factor-encoding genes, were correlated with the development and functions of these tissues. Moreover, 10 gene co-expression modules that were highly corre lated with the tissues were also determined. The most important 30 genes with top connectivity in each module were identified as hub genes to form the core co-expression network with important biological functions in the corresponding tissues. Based on these resources, further in-depth studies should be conducted to determine the roles of candidate genes and transcription factors governing tissue development and trait formation in A. pernyi.

A transcriptional atlas of the silk gland in Antheraea pernyi revealed by IsoSeq

        Duan Jianping,Li Shanshan,Zhang Zhengtian,Yao Lunguang,Yang Xinfeng,Ma Sanyuan,Duan Nini,Wang Jiazhen,Zhu Xuwei,Zhao Ping 한국응용곤충학회 2023 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.26 No.2

Silk fibers spun by the silk gland of Antheraea pernyi have many unique properties and are of great value in genetic improvement and non-traditional applications. However, the complete transcriptional landscape and accurate genic annotation of the silk gland are yet to be conducted, which limits related studies on this organ. In this study, isoform sequencing revealed the full-length transcriptome of the A. pernyi silk gland, producing 12,572 high-confidence isoforms from 7,658 genes, among which more than 40 % of genes have not yet been annotated in the reference genome. Moreover, approximately 9 % of isoforms are computationally identified as long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs). Up to 1,492 alternative splicing (AS) and 3,068 alternative polyadenylation (APA) events were revealed within this transcriptome. In addition, 2,569 putative transcription factors (TFs) belonging to 68 different families were first identified in A. pernyi genome, including 871 TFs in silk gland, and some TF families have undergone expansion or contraction. This study significantly improve our knowledge of the genes expressed in the silk gland of A. pernyi and provide a valuable resource for the in-depth study of silk protein synthesis and spinning, genetic improvement, and non-traditional applications in A. pernyi.
