Tourism employee’s balancing work, family, and training in the tourism city
Pham Le Hong Nhung,정남호,William C. Hunter,Robert John Hart (사)한국관광레저학회 2019 관광레저연구 Vol.31 No.3
This study uses conservation of resources theory to investigate the work, family, and training (WFT) balance of tourism employees in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam. The results show that WFT domains have both domino effect and give-and-take relationships. Domino effect relationship describes WFT facilitation and WFT conflict discretely, while give-and-take relationship describes the complicated relationships of all three domains. WFT relationships can be facilitation in one direction and conflict in the other two directions or facilitation in two directions and conflict in the other. Using constraint theory, the study explores what intrapersonal and interpersonal constraints prevent tourism employees from investing resources to achieve WFT balance while structural constraints provoke difficulties for tourism employees to achieve effectiveness and satisfaction in WFT domains. Finally, a comprehensive understanding of how tourism employees can better gain a WFT balance is provided.

Sustainable Earnings and Its Forecast: The Case of Vietnam
DO, Nhung Hong,PHAM, Nha Van Tue,TRAN, Dung Manh,LE, Thuy Thu Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.3
The study aims to provide better understanding of sustainable earnings by a comprehensive analysis of earnings persistence of business firms in Vietnam as an example of developing economies in South-East Asia. Dataset of 1,278 publicly listed firms (excluding banking and financial services firms) on Vietnam Stock Exchange for the period from 2008 to 2017 was collected. By applying fixed effect regression model, the empirical results provided the basis to measure the persistence index (Pers index) and find low level of their earnings persistence. The literature of earnings quality analysis in developed countries suggests earnings persistence as a noteworthy determinant of future earnings forecast and stock valuation. However, research of sustainable earnings in developing countries is still highly underdeveloped. For Vietnamese listed firms, the average Pers index was estimated for the period from 2008 to 2010, indicating low level of earnings persistence. We also incorporated earnings persistence level into future earnings forecast by running the quintile regression model divided the data into four equal levels and conducted each section independently to see the difference in each percentile, thence assessed the factors' influence on the specific model. The findings provide important information on the expected returns of firms, especially helping investors make sound decisions.
Optimize Negotiation Price in Construction Procurement using Bayesian Fuzzy Game Model
Sou-Sen Leu,Pham Vu Hong Son,Pham Thi Hong Nhung 대한토목학회 2015 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.19 No.6
The challenge of construction procurement negotiation arises partly because each negotiation side has private information on their payoff function but is uninformed of the values and strategies of the opposite side. The uncertain and limited contractor information as well as complex correlations among various factors affect contractor behaviors, making learning a supplier’s negotiation strategy and deciding the appropriate offer price difficult for contractors. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to apply the forecasting ability of a novel Bayesian Fuzzy Game Model (BFGM) in providing negotiation support and recommendations for contractors determining an appropriate current bid price. The validation analysis revealed that the contractor can foresee the supplier’s future bidding strategy to increase the success rate and profit, reduce the time spent in unnecessary negotiation, and improve negotiation efficiency in the construction material procurement process. Based upon the survey data from Taiwan and Vietnam, the preliminary validation of the model shows that both contractor and supplier can obtain the profitable agreement by applying the BFGM within a reasonable negotiation time.
The Impact of Foreign Ownership and Management on Firm Performance in Vietnam
NGUYEN, Thi Xuan Hong,PHAM, Thu Huyen,DAO, Thi Nhung,NGUYEN, Thi Nga,TRAN, Thi Kim Ngoc Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.9
The human and capital resources from foreign investors are important sources of finance for developing countries. Foreign ownership can help the firm to raise funds for operations and the foreign management can help the firm expand the market and improve management. However, does this really happen to Vietnamese firm? To find the answer to that question, this paper examines the impact of foreign ownership and management on the financial performance of listed firms on Vietnam's stock market. The data collected include 427 listed firms in all fields over five years, from 2014 to 2018. The financial performance is measured by Tobin's Q, ROA and ROE. The study carried out testing of each model by the least squares method of Pool OLS, assessing random effects (REM) and evaluating fixed effects (FEM). The most effective model is the FEM model. The results show that the foreign ownership ratio and the size of the firm have a positive impact on the financial performance. The foreign management, the age of the firms, the liquidity and financial leverage have a negative impact on the financial performance. Based on the research results, the study proposes some recommendations to improve the financial performance of listed firms in Vietnam.
