      • A Proposal of Performance Indicator of Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)

        The main purpose of this study is to derive the performance indicator of the LKAS (Lane Keeping Assist System) in consideration of the sense of heterogeneity felt by the driver, and to propose the necessary measurement data for an objective evaluation. As consumers’ interest in automobile safety has increased, research on Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) has been actively conducted worldwide. There is a need to consider the user experience on the driver’s side in future development direction. The heterogeneity was reenacted and observed using a test vehicle that can change the detailed settings of LKAS, and the heterogeneity was summarized through workshops and interviews with ADAS performance evaluation experts. Based on this, four performance indicators (lane keeping performance, vehicle behavior stability, steering stability, driver non-interference performance) were derived. In addition, the measurement data for each indicator was proposed. A program that automatically collects the proposed measurement data and supports the statistical analysis is under development, and it is expected to be useful for LKAS performance evaluation in the future.

      • An Eye Movement Analysis with Process Mining Techniques for Usability Evaluation

        The main purpose of this study is to propose an analysis and visualization method of eye movement that can be employed for usability evaluation. Eye tracking in usability evaluation has become more common over the past few years. A gaze plot and a heat map are popularly used to visualize the pattern of gaze movements, but it is difficult to integrate the gaze data of many subjects. We proposed a new method with process mining techniques, and a case study was conducted on K-MOOC website with 12 participants. As a result, a process model was derived from the event log based on the eye movements, and a gaze movement pattern could be obtained by using the developed model. We also found potential usability problems through simulation of the model and the bottlenecks. The proposed method might help to provide novel insights in usability evaluation.

      • Touch or Push?: Button Design for VR HMD using Hand Interaction

        Virtual reality (VR) enhances immersion by allowing users to view and manipulate virtual situations, landscapes, or objects through devices such as HMDs (Head-Mounted Displays). The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of button depth on the usability of virtual buttons in VR environments using hand interaction. The experiment was conducted in a desktop setting with Oculus Rift and Leap motion, and was designed with a balanced Latin Square. A total of 18 subjects performed a button selection task. Task completion time, number of errors, and subjective preferences were used to test different levels of button depth. The touch method that has 0-mm depth took a shorter task completion time with higher scores of subjective preferences. However, the push method that has 10-mm depth recorded a smaller number of errors, due to the visual push-feedback. The results can be applied to many different application areas.

        차선 유지 보조 시스템으로 인해 발생하는 이질감의 계측에 대한 연구

        Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the intrusive feeling caused by a Lane Keeping Assistance System (LKAS) and measure it objectively through the sensor log data of a vehicle. Background: LKAS, one of the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), directly intervenes in the steering wheel control to assist the driver to keep the lane. Due to the torque generated by the LKAS, the driver has a different and undesirable feeling from a usual situation, which can affect the driving experience. Nevertheless, the performance of the LKAS in most studies focused only on how well the system keeps the lane. Method: Through an actual driving test using a test vehicle equipped with an LKAS, two ADAS experts and two human factor experts observed the intrusive feeling while collecting sensor log data at the same time. After the types of the intrusive feeling were classified, variables that could account for the feeling were derived. Then, this study compared the data collected from the vehicle with and without the intrusive feeling. Results: Three types of the intrusive feeling were observed: abrupt lateral change, steering wheel vibration, and heavy steering. The lateral speed (LS), the high-pass filtered steering angle (FSA), and the interrupt torque (IT) were then derived as the variables that could explain each feeling, respectively. It is found that the patterns of the derived variables are different in driving with and without the intrusive feeling. Conclusion and Application: The intrusive feeling found in this study can be used as a performance index in the development stage of the LKAS. It will be helpful to systematically reduce the intrusive feeling.

        Influence of yeast hydrolysate supplement on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, microflora, gas emission, blood profile, and meat quality in broilers

        A total of 1512 Ross 308 broilers (one - day - old) were assigned (random blocks) to 1of 3 dietary treatments with 28 replicates of 18 chicks/cage. The dietary treatments were Corn-soybean-meal based basal diet supplemented with 0%, 0.1%, and 0.2% of commercial yeast hydrolysate (YH [Saccharomyces cerevisiae]). The graded level of YH supplementation has linearly increased broilers body weight gain on d 21, 35, and overall (p = 0.044, 0.029, and 0.036, respectively) experimental period. In addition, the increased level of YH supplementation has linearly reduced feed conversation ratio of broilers on d 21, 35, and overall trial period (p = 0.041, 0.052, and 0.032, respectively). However, the feed intake and mortality of broilers were not affected by the graded level of YH supplementation. Though nutrient digestibility of dry matter (p = 0.012) and nitrogen (p = 0.021) was linearly increased in broilers fed YH supplementation, at the end of the trial it fails to affect the total track digestible energy. Dietary inclusion of YH supplementation showed a beneficial effect on the microbial population as linearly improved lactobacillus (p = 0.011) and reduced Escherichia coli counts (p = 0.042). An increasing level of YH supplementation has tended to decrease NH3 (p = 0.069) and linearly decrease H2S (p = 0.027) of noxious gas emission in broilers. Moreover, dietary YH supplements trend to increase the glucose (p = 0.066) and reduced cholesterol (p = 0.069) level. At the end of the test, YH supplementation elicited a linear reduction in drip loss on days 5 and 7, respectively (p = 0.045, and 0.021). Furthermore, dietary inclusion of YH supplementation had linearly increased villus height (p = 0.051) but fails to affect crypt depth. Therefore, in terms of positive effects on the broiler’s overall performance, we suggest that dietary supplements containing graded YH levels in the broilers diet could serve as a potential alternative for growth promoters.

        Septicemia Caused by Leuconostoc lactis with Intrinsic Resistance to Vancomycin in a Patient with Biliary Stent

        Leuconostoc spp. is intrinsically resistant against vancomycin and rarely causes the infection in immunocompromised patients. In this report, we describe a fatal case of Leuconostoc lactis bacteremia in a patient with biliary tract stent insertion to resolve the biliary tract obstruction by multiple pseudocysts in the pancreatic head region. Leuconostic lactis isolated from the blood of the patients was confirmed by 16S rRNA sequencing and this isolate was susceptible against most antibiotics, including levofloxacin, penicillin, erythromycin and cefotaxime except vancomycin. The septic shock and multi-organ failure was abruptly progressed due to delayed use of adequate antibiotic. Using vancomycin as the empirical antibiotics in a bacteremic patient by Gram positive cocci, the treatment failures by the isolates with intrinsic resistance against vancomycin have to be considered. In addition, the prompt and accurate identification of Leuconostoc spp. are very important to select the adequate antibiotics.

        Objective: The aim of this study is to define the walking characteristics of the mobility impaired based on their physical, sensory, and cognitive characteristics. Background: The mobility impaired are suffered by restricted and the limited range of mobility that caused by the limited infrastructure and hazardous environment. Nowadays, the Korean society settled the requirement of the enhanced infrastructures and environment. To enhance the accessibility of the mobility impaired, it is important to understand physical characteristics, sensory, and cognitive characteristics that could influence the walking behaviors or capabilities of the mobility impaired. Method: This study followed four stages to analyze the walking characteristics of the mobility impaired. (1) Characteristics of the mobility impaired were collected through literatures survey. (2) The collected characteristics were classified and categorized into physical, sensory, and cognitive characteristics of the mobility impaired. (3) The possible walking behaviors and problematic scenarios were investigated and defined into 20 walking characteristics of the mobile impaired. (4) The proposed walking characteristics of the mobility impaired were reviewed by domain experts through in-depth interviews. The walking characteristics were also supplemented. Results: The mobility impaired has 27 basic walking characteristics that based on the 8 physical characteristics and 20 sensory and cognitive characteristics. Conclusion: The 27 walking characteristics of the mobile impaired were defined. Theses walking characteristics were deduced based on their basic physical and sensory, and cognitive characteristics and validated through expert interviews. Application: The result could be useful to investigate possible problems and the sources of the problems of the mobility impaired may could encounter on their daily life. The drawn characteristics could be used to construct the representative personas of the mobile impaired to be considered by environment/infrastructure designers.

      • Investigating Research Trend of User Experience Based on a Literature Survey

        The aim of this study is to investigate research trend of user experience (UX) and find limitations of current researches. UX have obtained attention as one of the important trend in various fields. With the advent of the 4th industrial revolution, use behavior of product and service is changed. Although there is needs to consider and research this change in academia, it is not that mature yet. In order to systematically understand the research trend and find limitations of current researches, we collected literature published after 2000 from various fields. Total 347 literatures are collected. Collected literatures were analyzed from several perspectives such as definition of UX and research type. Based on the result, three limitations are drawn. There are two issues, target of interaction and scope of interaction, related to the definition of UX. UX researches have been conducted for several purposes such as UX occurrence principle and evaluation criteria. However, there are still some limitations of current researches. Among them, three limitations we suggest are in the following: First, it is limited to one-to-one relationship between user and product/service. Second, most researches are focused only on the direct interaction with product or service. Third, evaluation of UX mainly depends on the subjective criteria. The result of this study is expected to be helpful when researchers decide direction of future UX research.
