Okada, S.,Beer, G.,Bhang, H.,Cargnelli, M.,Chiba, J.,Choi, S.,Curceanu, C.,Fukuda, Y.,Hanaki, T.,Hayano, R.S.,Iio, M.,Ishikawa, T.,Ishimoto, S.,Ishiwatari, T.,Itahashi, K.,Iwai, M.,Iwasaki, M.,Juhasz, North-Holland Pub. Co 2007 Physics letters: B Vol.653 No.5
We have measured the Balmer-series x-rays of kaonic 4He atoms using novel large-area silicon drift x-ray detectors in order to study the low-energy K@?-nucleus strong interaction. The energy of the 3d->2p transition was determined to be 6467+/-3(stat)+/-2(syst) eV. The resulting strong-interaction energy-level shift is in agreement with theoretical calculations, thus eliminating a long-standing discrepancy between theory and experiment.

The Telescope Array experiment studies ultra high energy cosmic rays using a hybrid detector. Fluorescence telescopes measure the longitudinal development of the extensive air shower generated when a primary cosmic ray particle interacts with the atmosphere. Meanwhile, scintillator detectors measure the lateral distribution of secondary shower particles that hit the ground. The Middle Drum (MD) fluorescence telescope station consists of 14 telescopes from the High Resolution Fly's Eye (HiRes) experiment, providing a direct link back to the HiRes measurements. Using the scintillator detector data in conjunction with the telescope data improves the geometrical reconstruction of the showers significantly, and hence, provides a more accurate reconstruction of the energy of the primary particle. The Middle Drum hybrid spectrum is presented and compared to that measured by the Middle Drum station in monocular mode. Further, the hybrid data establishes a link between the Middle Drum data and the surface array. A comparison between the Middle Drum hybrid energy spectrum and scintillator Surface Detector (SD) spectrum is also shown.

In order to improve the prediction accuracy of core performances in the fast reactor core design study, the unified cross-section set has been developed in Japan. The unified cross-section set, which combines a wide range of integral experimental information with differential nuclear data, is produced by using the cross-section adjustment technique based on the Bayesian parameter-estimation theory. A new set ADJ2010 is currently under development. The present paper describes the results of the cross-section adjustment for ADJ2010 which is based on the JENDL-4.0 data. The evaluation of the core design accuracy for a commercial power fast reactor core is also discussed. ADJ2010 will be released soon and will be expected to be utilized for core design of future fast reactors.

<P></P> <P>The CCQM-K97 key comparison was organized by the inorganic analysis working group (IAWG) of CCQM as a follow-up to completed pilot study CCQM-P96 and P96.1 to test the abilities of the national metrology institutes to accurately quantitate the mass fraction of arsenobetaine (AsB) in standard solution and in fish tissue. A pilot study CCQM-P133 was parallelized with this key comparison. National Institute of Metrology (NIM), China and National Metrology Institute of Japan (NMIJ) acted as the coordinating laboratories.</P> <P>Six NMIs participated in CCQM-K97 and two institutes participated in CCQM-P133, and all of them submitted the results. Some NMIs submitted more than one results by different methods. The results were in excellent agreement with each other, and obviously better than those of previous P96 and P96.1. Therefore the calibrant which each NMI used was comparable. It shows that the capabilities of some of the participants have been improved after the previous pilot studies.</P> <H2>Main text</H2> <P> To reach the main text of this paper, click on <A HREF='http://www.bipm.org/utils/common/pdf/final_reports/QM/K97/CCQM-K97.pdf'>Final Report</A>. Benchmarks of subcriticality in accelerator-driven system at Kyoto University Critical Assembly
Cheol Ho Pyeon,Masao Yamanaka,김송현,Thanh-Mai Vu,TOMOHIRO ENDO,Willem Fredrik G. Van Rooijen,GO CHIBA 한국원자력학회 2017 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.49 No.6
Basic research on the accelerator-driven system is conducted by combining 235U-fueled and 232Th-loaded cores in the Kyoto University Critical Assembly with the pulsed neutron generator (14 MeV neutrons) and the proton beam accelerator (100 MeV protons with a heavy metal target). The results of experimental subcriticality are presented with a wide range of subcriticality level between near critical and 10,000 pcm, as obtained by the pulsed neutron source method, the Feynman-α method, and the neutron source multiplication method.

The bursts of high energy events observed by the telescope array surface detector
Abbasi, R.U.,Abe, M.,Abu-Zayyad, T.,Allen, M.,Anderson, R.,Azuma, R.,Barcikowski, E.,Belz, J.W.,Bergman, D.R.,Blake, S.A.,Cady, R.,Cheon, B.G.,Chiba, J.,Chikawa, M.,Fujii, T.,Fukushima, M.,Goto, T.,Ha North-Holland 2017 Physics letters. Section A. Vol.381 No.32
The Telescope Array (TA) experiment is designed to detect air showers induced by ultra high energy cosmic rays. The TA ground Surface particle Detector (TASD) observed several short-time bursts of air shower like events. These bursts are not likely due to chance coincidence between single shower events. The expectation of chance coincidence is less than 10-4 for five-year's observation. We checked the correlation between these bursts of events and lightning data, and found evidence for correlations in timing and position. Some features of the burst events are similar to those of a normal cosmic ray air shower, and some are not. On this paper, we report the observed bursts of air shower like events and their correlation with lightning.
