Facile fabrication of platinum nanodots assembly core-silica shell nanosystems
( Diana ),유효종 한국공업화학회 2015 한국공업화학회 연구논문 초록집 Vol.2015 No.0
Nanosystems using platinum (Pt) nanodots assembly (multi-Pt nanoparticles, m-Pt) as the core and silica (SiO2) shells were successfully synthesized as m-Pt@SiO2 spherical nanoparticles (NPs) and m-Pt@SiO2 nanochains (NChs) by a reverse microemulsion (water-in-oil) based method. The kinetically controlled reduction of K2PtCl4 by the Brij35 surfactant within reverse micelles, followed by condensation of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS), led to the formation of multi-Pt nanodot core-slica shell systems. The reduction kinetics for the growth of coreshell systems were compared in both the presence of reducing agents and in the absence of supplementary agents, as well as the variation of water-to-surfactant ratio. To assemble Pt nanoparticles within in onedimensional silica matrix for m-Pt@SiO2 NChs, the pH of the reaction media was systematically changed.

Background and objective: Climate change is a current issue that need to be solved by innovation in environmental education. However, efforts specifically to develop a teaching material based on the learning needs of the students related to climate change has not been given attention. This study aims to describe the Pro-Environmental Behavior (PEB) of students as basis for the development of an educational material to be known as Climate Change Book Series (CCBS-US). Methods: It entailed a descriptive research design and survey method, involving a sample of 642 students in Jakarta and Semarang, Indonesia. The data were treated using descriptive statistics. Data analysis using ANOVA test to see the significant of the difference between each group. Results: The results indicate that the university students’ PEB score is high while the high school students’ PEB score is moderate. The lowest average score is found in aspects related to efforts in reducing garbage and recycling. Details of average score were Junior high school students (74.49), senior high school students (66.28), Faculty of Math and Science university students (73.69), Non-Faculty Math and Science university students (72.27). Conclusion: It is along these inputs that the CCBS-US must be developed as a learning material in environmental education. It is hoped that the results of this study, the developed CCBS-US can significantly empower students' PEB scores in classroom learning.

Objective To determine predictors of early recovery of functional swallow in patients who had gastrostomy (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy [PEG]) placement for dysphagia and were discharged to inpatient rehabilitation (IPR) after stroke. Methods A retrospective study of prospectively identified patients with acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke from July 2008 to August 2012 was conducted. Patients who had PEG during stroke admission and were discharged to IPR, were studied. We compared demographics, stroke characteristics, severity of dysphagia, stroke admission events and medications in patients who remained PEG-dependent after IPR with those who recovered functional swallow. Results Patients who remained PEG dependent were significantly older (73 vs. 54 years, p=0.009). Recovery of swallow was more frequent for hemorrhagic stroke patients (80% vs. 47%, p=0.079). Age, adjusting for side of stroke (odds ratio [OR], 0.89; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.82–0.98; p=0.016) and left-sided strokes, adjusting for age (OR, 15.15; 95% CI, 1.32–173.34; p=0.028) were significant predictors of swallow recovery. Patients who recovered swallowing by discharge from IPR were more likely to be discharged home compared to those who remained PEG-dependent (90% vs. 42%, p=0.009).Conclusion Younger age and left-sided stroke may be predictive factors of early recovery of functional swallow in patients who received PEG. Prospective validation is important as avoidance of unnecessary procedures could reduce morbidity and healthcare costs.

This study examines the role of Leadership style and Organizational culture in predicting employee Performance. The aim of the research is: 1) to know the direct effect of Democratic Leadership on employee Performance, 2) to know the direct effect of Democratic Leadership on organizational culture, 3) to know the direct effect of Organizational culture on employee Performance, 4) to test the role of Organizational culture as mediation the effect of Democratic Leadership on employee Performance. The respondents were all employees at the Education Office East Java. The sampling method was used to collect data from 106 employees at the Education Office East Java, Indonesia, using surveys and questionnaires. The data obtained were analyzed using the Path Analysis with SPSS statistical software. The study had four findings. Firstly, Democratic Leadership has a significant effect on employee Performance. Secondly, Democratic Leadership also has a significant effect on Organizational culture. Thirdly, Organizational culture has a significant effect on employee performance. Fourthly, organizational culture mediates the effect of Democratic Leadership on employee Performance. Furthermore, the direct effect of Leadership style and the mediation role contribute to knowledge. The results showed that implementing Democratic Leadership supported by a conducive organizational culture guides employee to perform better.
