Effects of operating parameters on the combustion oscillation behaviour in a lean premixed CH 4 combustor

Chengfei Tao,Hao Zhou 대한기계학회 2021 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.35 No.8

This article experimentally studies the influence of operating parameters on thermoacoustic instability in a lean premixed combustor. The combustion chamber length and methane flow rate were selected as the operating parameter. Experimental results show that the flame experienced different oscillation modes as the combustion chamber length varies. With the nonlinear time-series analyzing tools, such as phase space reconstruction or recurrence plot, the dynamic characteristics of thermoacoustic instability can be acquired. As the methane flow rate increased from 2.0 L/min to 4.5 L/min, the thermoacoustically flame evolves from a chaotic state to a limit cycle state. There exists extreme oscillation point as the combustion chamber length increased from 100 mm to 800 mm. The maximum thermoacoustic instability point occurred at 600 mm. The flame shape is tightly connected with the thermoacoustic instability process, and a hollow inner recirculation region emerged. This article can promote the application of passive control methods in the prevention of combustion instability.

Effects of corn particle size on energy and nutrient digestibility in diets fed to young pigs and adult sows

        Ma, Dongli,Zhu, Tao,Yang, Fengjuan,Zhang, Shuai,Huang, Chengfei Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2021 Animal Bioscience Vol.34 No.9

Objective: This research was carried out to investigate the effects of corn particle size on the apparent total tract digestibility (ATTD) of energy and nutrients fed to pigs at four different growth stages and therefore to provide basis for better application of corn in pig feeds. Methods: Eighteen weanling piglets, 18 growing barrows, 24 gestating sows and 24 lactating sows were used in this study. Within each stage, pigs were allotted to 1 of 3 or 4 corn-soybean meal diets which were formulated with different corn particle size in a completely randomized design with 6 replicate pigs per diet. Each stage lasted for 19 days, including 7 days for cages adaptation, 7 days for adaptation to diets and followed by 5 days for total collection of feces and urine. Results: For nursery and growing stages, the results showed that digestible energy content and ATTD of gross energy (GE), dry matter (DM), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), and acid detergent fiber (ADF) was increased (p<0.05) as the corn particle size reduced. Meanwhile, the metabolizable energy content and ATTD of crude protein (CP) tended to increase. For gestating sows, no differences were found in the ATTD of nutrients among dietary treatments. As for lactating sows, there were linear and quadratic increases (p<0.05) in the ATTD of DM, GE, NDF as the corn being finer milled. Quadratic response in ATTD of ADF and CP (p<0.05) were observed as sows fed with four different diets. Conclusion: Reducing corn particle size can increase digestibility of nutrients fed to young pigs and lactating sows. No effects were observed in present experiment when gestating sows were fed with different particle sized corn.

Attenuation effects of perforated plates with heterogeneously distributed holes on combustion instability in a spray flame combustor

        Hao Zhou,Zihua Liu,Hao Fang,Chengfei Tao,Mingxi Zhou,Liubin Hu 대한기계학회 2020 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.34 No.11

Perforated plates have been widely used in combustors to attenuate harmful sounds. In this study, the acoustic absorption capability of plates with heterogeneously distributed holes under bias flow was evaluated in an impedance tube, and the sound attenuation effect of each plate located in the liquid fuel combustor inlet section was experimentally studied. The perforated plate with heterogeneously distributed large holes showed the best control effect under the designed experimental conditions. After control, the peak dynamic pressure in the chamber and plenum decreased by 90 % and 75 %, respectively, and the reduction in the heat release fluctuation was 60 %. When the primary air flow rate deviated from the optimal value, the plate with large holes still reduced the pressure amplitude in the chamber by approximately 70 %. It was also found that installing the perforated plate with a back cavity had the dual effect of gaining and damping combustion instability.

Segregation Ratio in Selfed and Crossed Progenies Demonstrates Single Dominant Gene Inheritance of Day-neutrality in Strawberry

        Jiwei Ruan,용영록,Chunmei Yang,Guoxian Wang,Lifang Wu,Shenchong Li,Pang Tao,Chengfei Liao,Ji-Hua Wang 한국원예학회 2017 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.58 No.6

Studies on the inheritance of day-neutrality, a highly desirable trait in strawberry (Fragaria×ananassa),have not been conclusive because flowering phenotypes were evaluated based on different materials and experimentalsites. In the present study, selfed and crossed progenies of Day-neutral (DN) ‘Albion’ and June-bearing (JB) ‘Akihime’cultivars, namely ‘Albion’ × ‘Albion’, ‘Akihime’ × ‘Akihime’, and ‘Akihime’ × ‘Albion’, were established in 2013and 2014. The flowering phenotype (DN or JB) of seedlings from each of the three progenies, as well as of parentalplants, was evaluated for two successive years (2015 and 2016) in Central Yunnan, China, and their segregationratios were used to elucidate day-neutrality inheritance. Single dominant gene inheritance was demonstrated forday-neutrality, although minor genes (from the JB parent ‘Akihime’) likely increase DN magnitude. During thejuvenile stage (i.e., long before the first inflorescence), the major gene controlling day-neutrality may not beexpressed. We provide basic information for DN gene mapping and cloning, as well as materials (progenies) fordomestic DN strawberry breeding.
