        Pharmacokinetics of Carbamazepine Polymorphs and Dihydrate in Rats, Related to Dogs and Humans

        Species differences in the oral pharmacokinetics and absolute bioavailability (F_abs) of carbamazepine polymorphs (form I and form III) and dihydrate were studied. The pharmacokinetics of each form was investigated in rats following a single oral/intravenous administration of 10 mg/kg and an oral dose of 80 mg/kg, which were compared with the published data obtained from dogs and humans. No significant differences were found in their C_max, T_max, AUC_(0-∞) and F_abs among the forms at the low dose. However, significant differences were observed at the high dose. The F_abs of each form was markedly reduced with increasing of doses in species (e.g. F_abs in rats ranged from > 82% to 38.4% - 56.0%). At a comparable dose, the C_max, and AUC_(0-∞)of rats and humans were about 3-10 times higher than in dogs. The absorption rate of form III in rats exhibited a similar trend to that in humans, and was far higher in dogs. A multi-peak phenomenon in plasma curves was observed in rats and humans, but not in dogs. In conclusion, rats appear to be a better predictor of carbamazepine polymorphs absorbed in humans,and form III may be more suitable as a pharmaceutical crystal.

      • A study of plastic plateau disappearance in stress-strain curve of annealed polypropylene films during stretching

        The changes of plastic plateau in the stress-strain curves of annealed polypropylene (PP) films during stretching under room temperature were followed and the corresponding melting properties and microstructure were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It was found that during stretching the plastic plateau disappeared progressively with the increase of drawing ratio. At the same time, the endotherm plateau in DSC curves also disappeared progressively. The presence of the plastic plateau was attributed to the stretching of unstable crystalline part which was formed by tie chains around initial row-nucleated lamellae structure during annealing. During stretching, the unstable part was stretched and converted to bridges connecting separated lamellae. There was direct relationship between the disappearance of plastic plateau and pore formation.

        Comparison of Triangular Silver Nanoprisms with Different Capping Agents and Structural Size for H2O2 Etching-Based Biosensors

        This study compared the susceptibility of different triangular silver nanoprisms (TSNPRs) towards the etching of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), a catalytical product of glucose oxidase (GOx). The influence of capping agents and structural size have been explored towards the oxidation of silver nanoprisms. Results indicated that the etching of the TSNPRs was extremely effected by surface capping agents, in which citrate contributed a highest H2O2-sensitive effect in the absence of secondary capping ligands (e.g., glycerol and ethanol). Meanwhile, compared to bigger TSNPRs, smaller nanoprisms exhibited a different signal output of plasma resonance peak through intensity decrease rather than wavelength shift, making them more H2O2-etching susceptibile. In virtue of GOx etching-based system, TSNPRs with a small size and citrate capping were served as a substitute for big nanoprisms to sense glucose, offering a number of advantages such as high sensitivity, improved calibration, time-saving and extended detection ranges. Moreover, the small sized TSNPRs capping with citrate alone have been expected to be of great interest in the trace of GOx, providing an ultrahigh sensitive GOx etching-based analytical platform for point-of-care diagnostics towards other analytes (e.g., DNA, protein).

        A new model and testing verification for evaluating the carbon efficiency of server

        To cope with the risks of climate change and promote the realization of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, this paper first comprehensively considers the policy background, technical trends and carbon reduction paths of energy conservation and emission reduction in data center server industry. Second, we propose a computing power carbon efficiency of data center server, and constructs the carbon emission per performance of server (CEPS) model. According to the model, this paper selects the mainstream data center servers for testing. The result shows that with the improvement of server performance, the total carbon emissions are rising. However, the speed of performance improvement is faster than that of carbon emission, hence the relative carbon emission per unit computing power shows a continuous decreasing trend. Moreover, there are some differences between different products, and it is calculated that the carbon emission per unit performance is 20-60KG when the service life of the server is five years.
