        Maxwelle-Wagner polarization in grain boundary segregated NiCuZn ferrite

        The present work investigates the polarization response in polycrystalline Ni0.9yCuyZn0.1Fe1.98O4d (y ¼ 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5) ferrite synthesized by solidestate reaction method. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed cubic spinel phase formation in the calcined samples. Sintered samples contain a continuous network of CuO-rich segregation along the grain boundaries for y 0.2. Dielectric spectra showed a relaxation peak for y 0.2 in the frequency range of 1 kHze1 MHz. This relaxation has been explained based on MaxwelleWagner polarization considering two-layer model in connection with two heterogeneous dielectric media.

        Isoxazole계 화합물을 합성하고 항균활성연구를 수행하였다. 3-Di(alkylamino)acryloalkanones을 hydroxylamine hydrochloride 또는 hydroxylamine-O-sulphonic acid와 반응시켜서 target isoxazole계 화합물을 합성하였다. The synthesis, characterization and antibacterial activity of novel isoxazole derivatives were reported. 3-Di (alkylamino)acryloalkanones were prepared and used as synthons to get the target isoxazole derivatives via reaction with hydroxylamine hydrochloride or hydroxylamine-O-sulphonic acid.

        Design, Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Novel Analogs of Bortezomib

        Novel analogs of bortezomib were designed, synthesized and in vitro biological evaluation was carried out using human tumor cell lines A549 and PC3. Docking studies of these analogs of bortezomib was discussed. According to biological investigations, the inhibitors 4, 6, and 8 were found to be more potent than reference drug candidate bortezomib. A549 cell line showed significant sensitivity towards 4, 6, and 8 with $IC_{50}$ values 14.03, 18.5, and 12.4 nM, respectively, and PC3 cell line showed IC50 values 26.1, 37.0, and 21.2 nM, respectively. The $IC_{50}$ values of bortezomib in these cell lines are 27.3 nM and 42.0 nM.

        Characteristics and Variability of Carbonaceous Aerosols over a Semi Urban Location in Garhwal Himalayas

        Extraction of organic carbon (OC) and elemental carbon (EC) were carried out over Srinagar, India, an ecologically sensitive semi-urban site in Garhwal Himalays. The PM2.5 sampling was carried out during January to December, 2017 over the site. The OC and EC were extracted from PM2.5 samples using a thermo optical OC/EC analyzer. Highest OC and EC concncentrations were found during postmonsoon (17.67 ± 1.1 μg/m3 OC and 6.34 ± 0.75 EC) and Winter (17.31 ± 3.045 μg/m3 OC and 6.32 ± 0.585 μg/m3 EC) seasons are attributed to boundary layer dynamics and anthropogenic activities. The lower concentration of OC/ EC was observed during monsoon season (11.64 ± 1.75 μgm−3 OC and 3.46 ± 0.19μgm−3 EC) owing to wet scavenging of aerosols and minimum count of forest fire/biomass buring incidences. Both pre-monsoon and post-monsoon season concentrations are also influenced by biomass burning in the IGP (Indo-Gangetic Plain) region and forest fires in the adjecent areas. The OC/EC ratio sounds that vehicular exhaust and biomass burning are the major source of OC/EC over the site. Generation of secondary organic carbon (SOC) at the region causes variability in OC/EC ratio in different seasons. It is found that 24–32% of PM2.5 is contributed by carbonaceous aerosols (OC and EC) over Srinagar. The pivotal role of meteorology in modulating OC/ EC concentrations has been illustared in detail.

      • Performance and Emission Improvement of Biodiesel Fueled Diesel Engine with Exhaust Gas Recirculation and Ethyl Hexyl Nitrate Additive

        Performance, combustion and emission results of the diesel engine fueled with biodiesel blends with cetane improver as additive are presented in this paper. Cetane improver Ethyl Hexyl Nitrate (EHN) as 0.5% and 1% by volume is added as an additive to diesel-biodiesel blends. Experiments were conducted on a single cylinder, four stroke, and naturally aspirated, direct injection diesel engine with the said fuels using Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) to analyze the performance, combustion and emissions. Experimental results reveal that both cylinder pressure and Heat Release Rate (HRR) decreased with increase in blend percentage and EGR as well. With increase in EHN percentage, CO and HC emissions decreased considerably while NOx decreased marginally. Smoke increases with increase in both EHN and EGR, however, at a particular EGR, blends with cetane improver present the better performance with improved emissions.

        Enhanced mangnetoelectric voltage in multiferroic particulate Ni0.83Co0.15Cu0.02Fe1.9O4- δ/PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3 composites – dielectric, piezoelectric and magnetic properties

        Multiferroic particulate composites of Ni0.83Co0.15Cu0.02Fe1.9O4-δ – NCCF and lead zirconate titanate (PZT) were prepared conventional ceramic method. The generic formulae x NCCF + (1-x) PZT where x = 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 and 0.6 mole fractions. The presence of two phases in multiferroic was confirmed with XRD technique. The dielectric constant and loss tangent were studied as a function of frequency (100 Hz to 1 M Hz) and temperature (30–500 ℃). The piezoelectric coefficient d33 were also studied on these particulate composites. The hysteresis behaviour was studied to understand the magnetic properties such as saturation magnetization (Ms) and magnetic moment (μB). The static magnetoelectric (ME) voltage coefficient was measured as a function of dc magnetic bias field. A high value of ME output (3151 mV/Oe.cm) was obtained in the composite containing 50% highly magnetostrictive ferrite component NCCF – 50% highly piezoelectric ferroelectric component PZT.
