Recently, rehabilitation intervention research applying virtual reality (VR) technology has been actively conducted due to the development of computers and information and communication technologies. To play a commercially immersive VR game, a user"s posture control, weight transfer, and dynamic balance are required, which are essential components for rehabilitation training. These characteristics are expected to be utilized for rehabilitation interventions, but actual cases of rehabilitation research using commercialized immersive content are rare. Therefore, in this study, the effects on proprioceptive sensation, balance, and agility were evaluated after immersive VR game training was applied to normal people and below-knee amputees. Three normal people and 3 below-knee amputees participated in this study, and VR games were played 5 times a week for 2 weeks and 10 min per session. This study used a pre- and post-test experimental design. Then, an joint position reproducibility test, a standing balance test under six conditions, and an agility T-test were conducted to evaluate proprioceptive sensation, balance, and agility, respectively. The results of the study confirmed that the peak heart rate during training was increased to 75% compared to the intrinsic maximum heart rate in both groups, indicating a relatively medium level of exercise. In addition, both groups confirmed a decrease in error angle, decrease in Sway Index, and decrease in Agility T-test execution time. Through these results, it was confirmed that immersive VR game training is effective in proprioception sensation, balance, and agility, and the possibility of using it as a rehabilitation intervention. These results are intended to be used as basic data for the development of VR rehabilitation training programs for people with lower limb amputation.
