Background/Aims: Recent advances in zoom endoscopy have enabled the subepithelial capillary network (SECN) in different organs of the gastrointestinal tract to be visualized. Ex vivo studies have suggested that the SECN demonstrates a honeycomb-like structure in the large intestine, but this has not yet been visualized in vivo. The high clarity and resolution of narrow-band imaging (NBI) may allow visualization at the single red-blood-cell (RBC) level and more accurate visualization of the SECN. We investigated whether high-definition magnification colonoscopy with NBI is useful for visualizing capillaries and RBCs in the large intestine. Methods: Sixteen patients with bowel symptoms undergoing routine colonoscopy with normal findings in a tertiary referral academic gastroenterology and endoscopy unit were included in the study. Total colonoscopies were performed using a high-definition magnification colonoscope (CF-H260AZI, Olympus, Tokyo) and a prototype high-definition electronic endoscopy system capable of NBI. Each part of the large intestine (cecum, ascending, transverse, descending, and sigmoid colon, and rectum) was observed at the maximum magnification with white-light imaging (WLI) and NBI. The normal honeycomb-like SECN and RBC movement by high-definition magnification colonoscopy with either WLI or NBI was prospectively successfully visualized for each part of the large intestine. Results: In all subjects, high-definition magnification colonoscopy with NBI allowed the visualization of a honeycomb-like SECN together with RBC movement in each segment of the large intestine except for the rectum. In contrast, with WLI alone, neither this SECN structure nor RBC movement could be detected. Conclusions: High-definition magnification colonoscopy with NBI could be a new optical method for facilitating noninvasive investigations of both the microvascular architecture and microcirculation without the need for contrast materials. A Review of Experimental Detection Methods of Cavitation in Centrifugal Pumps and Inducers
Georgios Mousmoulis,John Anagnostopoulos,Dimitrios Papantonis 한국유체기계학회 2019 International journal of fluid machinery and syste Vol.12 No.1
An important flow mechanism that affects the performance and efficiency of centrifugal pumps is cavitation. In recent years, many researchers have studied the physics of cavitation in order to create appropriate detection methodologies. The aim of this paper is to review the various experimental tools that have been developed so far and enlighten the area of future research on the field of cavitation monitoring. According to the results, cavitation detection is possible, but a large number of sensors have to be used and permanent changes in the machine need to be made for increasing the results reliability. Therefore, future research steps are proposed towards the development of reliable, accurate but also easy to install and low cost experimental set ups.

Mild traumatic brain injury is common in elderly patients, many of whom are on anticoagulant. The common practice is to discharge these patients from the emergency room if the computed tomography (CT) of the brain is normal. However, a very small proportion of these patients may develop a life threatening intracranial haematoma in the following days. We present here a case of a 66-year-old male on anticoagulant therapy that developed a subdural haematoma 48 hours after a mild head injury, with a normal initial CT scan of the brain. The patient underwent a craniotomy with evacuation of a large subdural clot. Postoperatively he had progressively improved and six months later has a Glasgow Outcome Score of three. This case is characterized by the delayed onset of a subdural haematoma in a patient on anticoagulation and we discuss here the possible pathogenesis related to this phenomenon. We also briefly review the pertinent literature and the current guidelines for the management of this type of head injuries.
Development of a computer aided program for slipforming operations incorporating maturity approach
K.M.A. Hossain,C. Anagnostopoulos,M. Lachemi 한국계산역학회 2006 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.3 No.2
Slipforming is a construction method in which the forms move continuously during the placement of concrete. This paper presents the development of a computer aided program designated as 밅ADSLIPFORM?for slipforming operations. The program incorporates maturity methods for the prediction of initial setting times of slipform concrete layers using laboratory data (time-temperature histories and setting times of concrete mixtures at different temperatures) and generates slipform mock-up times. The performance of CADSLIPFORM is validated by comparing simulated mock-up times with those estimated in the field through conventional hard front by rod (R) method. Moreover, the program versatility is demonstrated by illustrating mock-up simulations for different cases with variable slipform parameters such as: number and thickness of concrete layers, concrete temperature (simulating variable setting times) and slipform speed. The program also incorporates the choice of Freiesleben Hansen & Pederson (FHP) and Carino & Tank (CT) maturity functions. CADSLIPFORM can assist user to develop reliable schedule of slipforming operation suitable for a specific project by optimizing various slipform parameters.

The present study was conducted to investigate the prognostic significance of co-expression patterna of HER-2, IL-6, TNF-a and TGF-${\beta}1$ in breast cancer, by correlating the number of markers with positive expression with clinicopathological characteristics indicative of tumor progression and overall survival. One hundred thirty consecutive patients with primary breast cancer were prospectively included and evaluated. Serum concentrations of the above markers were measured by ELISA. Median split was used to subdivide patients with marker positive or negative expression. The presence of ${\geq}3$ positive markers was independently associated with extended lymph node (>3) involvement (aOR, 11.94, p=0.001) and lymphovascular invasion (aOR, 12.04, p=0.018), increasing the prognostic significance of each marker considered separately. Additional prognostic information regarding survival was also provided; as the number of positive markers increased, a gradually reduction of survival time was observed. In addition, patients with 4 positive markers had significantly shorter survival (25 vs 39 months, p=0.006) and a more than 4 fold increased risk of death (aHR, 4.35, p=0.003) compared to patients with 3 positive markers. Our findings suggest that the coexpression pattern of these four markers could be used clinically as a useful marker for tumor extension and outcome of breast cancer.

With the usage of technologies like the Internet of Things and Cloud, spanning across the spectrum of manufacturing, production and distribution, typical supply chain management (SCM) systems rely on a multitude of services for support. The aim of this paper is to present an integrated system microservice architecture and implementation, consuming and semantically annotating data feeds from online systems, while performing post-processing tasks such as supply chain monitoring, goods location analysis and estimated delays. Suitable application code programmed through intuitive workflow-programming based structures is also injected while the approach is validated through a set of deployment scenarios.
